Now that Animal Crossing (and my town, Forest) are 20 years old, I decided to finally do something that I have never done in the game: Go mushrooming! Even though mushrooms are easy to find in later games, they have very limited availability on GameCube.
In fact, you can only find them for one hour (starting at 8 a.m.) for about ten days in October (from the 15th through the 25th). What makes it even more challenging is that one of the five mushrooms will disappear each 15 minutes. So I started right at 8:00 on this rainy autumn Sunday morning, and I found my first mushroom near the lake at 8:01.
I later found one near the bottom of my eastern ramp, one near the museum, and one near the police station. I never found the 5th one, but that’s okay. I was satisfied just to finally participate for the first time. π
I spotted Joan in town, which is a very rare occurrence for me (since I almost never play this game in the morning). I didn’t buy any turnips from her, but I did stop to say hello.
Later on (when the shop opened), I sold my four mushrooms to Tom Nook for a total of 20,000 bells. That’s 5k each, which is actually quite good. This isn’t a bad way to make some extra money if you’re more of a morning person than I am. π
Forest Life… Goes On
Of course, mushrooms aren’t the only thing going on in Forest. Life goes on. When I played earlier this month (on October 5th), I received a goodbye letter from Mint in the mail. Her replacement was Alli the gator.
Alli previously lived in Forest ten years ago. But the most interesting part is that she moved into the same spot where she lived in 2012, with the river right behind her house!
Today, I learned that Dotty has also moved out. Her replacement was Nibbles the squirrel. Nibbles previously lived in Forest back in 2011…but not in the same spot.
Tonight, Belle stopped to gloat that she goes mushrooming every year, while suggesting that I never have. She would have been right about that before today, but not any more!
Meanwhile, Ursala tried to sell me a cherry for 2,370 bells. I had no need for it…especially at that ridiculous price.
She insisted that I’ll never find another cherry around here, which is completely false. I have plenty of cherry trees around. π
Here is my video of the mushrooming:
Omg Imm glad to find more people still playing ACGC in 2022. probably still my favorite out of all of them π
Lol Ursala doesnβt realize there are cherry trees around!
