Island Guestbook

Nookington’s was already closed by the time I played, so I couldn’t sell the two fossils I got back in the mail. I pulled a few weeds and talked to Copper. He told me Crazy Redd would be in town Friday. There aren’t any Crazy Redd items that I need though, so I won’t go out of my way to check out his tent Friday.

I made a couple trips to the island tonight. I didn’t get any new items I needed, but I did experience something new: Ankha asked me to sign her island guestbook, so I did. I didn’t even know there was an island guestbook! It’s pretty amazing that I’m still learning new things about this game, nearly nine years after its release.

Mother’s Day

Today is Mother’s Day (hope you moms out there had a great one), and my Animal Crossing character got a letter from his mom:

Dear Jeff, I'm always joyous on Mother's Day, whether you give me flowers or worms. Flowers, please. -MomTortimer will give you a lovely phone for Mother’s Day if you find him by the wishing well, if you haven’t already received it in a previous year.

I also made some trips to the island, but I didn’t get any new island furniture.

Kapp'n: Yar, I've got me a fine idea! Ye wanna arm-wrestle me?

Seeking Saharah

I knew Saharah was in town today, so I made sure to play. First I ran into Wisp, who asked me to find his spirits scattered across town. But I didn’t have time for that.

I asked Copper where Saharah was, he told me B-2. I went there and talked to her. She reminded me that I needed to trade-in a carpet to get a new one. Great. I didn’t have any spare carpets on me, but I remembered I saw one buried on the island, so I took a quick trip to the island to get it.

Once I got back, Saharah was no longer in B-2. I went back to Copper, who told me she was in acre D-1 now. I went to talk to her. The good thing about Saharah on GameCube is that she tells you which carpet you’re trading for. If you don’t like what she offers, just decline and you can talk to her again to get her to offer a different carpet. It took me 6 or 7 tries, but she finally offered what I needed–the tropical floor. I needed it for my island room.

I still need the tropical vista from Wendell, so I’ll keep checking to see when he comes next. Unfortunately, he doesn’t give you a choice of what wallpaper you get. But I have an ace up my sleeve if it doesn’t work out…another character in my town has the tropical vista. So I can borrow it if I have to. But I don’t have all the island furniture items yet anyway, so it’s a moot point for now.
