Word of Mouth

Opal the green elephant has already moved out of town. I received her goodbye letter in the mail today.

Dearest Jeff! During my entire move, I was sure I was forgetting something. You know what it was? I forgot to say adieu to you. I hope this letter will ease your devastation... All the best! -Opal

Her replacement was a rude, pink mouse. No, not Candi; I already have Candi. It’s Carmen, and she’s even worse than Candi. 😛

Carmen: Stop shouting! I'm right here! I can hear you fine, bumpkin!
I think I see why you didn’t return.

She lived in Forest a decade ago (back when my blog entry titles were almost as long as the entries themselves). And even back then, I thought she was a returning villager. So that means this is likely Carmen’s third stint in Forest. Hopefully, it will be a short one.

Tom Nook is apparently having a sale on March 1st, and that’s all most of my villagers would talk about.

Belle: Tom Nook's gonna be throwing a major-league, blow-out sale, in a tutu!

Pippy even tried to convince me that Nook isn’t having a sale…so that I wouldn’t buy up everything. Some villagers are afraid of the competition.

Pippy: Because Tom Nook's definitely not having a sale soon!

Of course, Nook’s sales just have one item for sale, and villagers can’t buy them anyway. But whatever, Pippy. 😛

Tom had a very different approach to the sale, and I found it amusing. He said it doesn’t matter if you miss a sale or not, because Tom Nook will end up getting your money one way or another. Too true! 😂

Tom: It's no big deal if you miss out on a sale. Nook'll get your money one way or another! Ha ha ha.

Now that winter is over and the snow has all melted, I changed out of my winter sweater. I’m now wearing a stormy shirt, even though I don’t even remember where I got it. It was in my pockets somehow. 😀

I asked Static for a job, and he asked me to deliver something to his buddy Puck.

Static: Take these clothes to my buddy, Puck!

So I delivered the gift (a jagged shirt), and Puck really liked it. He rewarded me with a blue table.

Puck: Oh yeah...I just know people are gonna be checking me out now, brrrrrrrrr!

I recently posted a video that takes a look at the insulting things villagers will say about special characters like Tom Nook, Redd, Blathers, and more. It includes clips from this game, but also some from Wild World and City Folk. I hope you’ll give it a watch!

See you all next time!

Igloo Thief

Gwen has already moved out of town; I received her goodbye letter in the mail today.

My little Jeff, I can't stand for anyone to see me cry... You must know, that's the only reason I left without saying goodbye. Even now, the tears are... I can't bear it! Farewell! -Yours, Gwen

When I ran into Pippy, she asked me if I would give her a new catchphrase to replace “li’l hare.” I knew she likely wouldn’t be sticking around long, so I told her no. However, she refused to take no for an answer!

Pippy: No way! I'm not taking no for an answer! Come on...I need you to think up something good for me to say!

Since she forced me to pick something, I told her to say “I’m rude.”

I visited Puck, and he was talking about Katrina and her upcoming visit. He said that she just mutters nonsense and takes 50 bells. Too true. 😛

Puck: She mutters some nonsense at you and then takes 50 bells, brrrrrrrrr!

Genji was wondering about my gyroid’s dance moves, so he told me that he’s basically going to stalk my gyroid to learn its secrets.

Genji: I'm gonna hide out and watch your gyroid every day until I learn the secrets of its mad dance moves! You'll see!
Are you off your meds again?

Ursala told me that she likes igloos, but she thinks she’s above manual labor. So she’s going to wait for someone else to build an igloo, and then just take it for herself. 😮

Ursala: I'll just wait for someone to build a nice igloo, and then I'll take it, grooomph!

Speaking of igloos, I found Emerald in one tonight. She wanted to just eat chowder and warm up by the fire. 💚

Emerald, in an igloo: Let's sample the chowder and warm up by the fire, sproing!

Just before wrapping up my game, I met Gwen’s replacement, Opal. Even though she’s a snooty too, I like her much more than Gwen. Welcome to town, Opal!

Opal: Mine is Opal. Well, nice to meet you, snoot!

See you all next time. Never Stop Crossing!

Jingle Comes to Town

On December 9th, I received a goodbye letter from Amelia. Her replacement was Gwen, a rude, snooty penguin who I already have in my ACCF town.

Gwen: Stop shouting! I'm right here! I can hear you fine, h-h-h-hon!

Gracie was in town, so I washed her car and earned myself a nice new cow print shirt.

Jeff washes Gracie's car.

I played again tonight (Christmas Eve), and I found a goodbye letter in the mail. Unfortunately, it was from Cookie, not Gwen. Her replacement was Pippy, and she’s nice.

Pippy: Oh. Jeff, huh? Well, I'm Pippy. Now that we've met, does that mean we're friends?

Tonight is the night that Jingle comes to town (not to be confused with Toy Day). The Christmas Eve event doesn’t even seem to have an official name, at least not in-game. It’s not even shown on the calendar you’ll find in a journal.

Regardless, your job is to find Jingle the black-nosed reindeer to receive a gift.

Jingle: Just look at all this snow! It's a white winter! How romantic!

But unfortunately, you have to find him five times before you can receive a gift. And that doesn’t mean talking to him five times in a row; that won’t work, and he gets annoyed if you try it.

Jingle: What is it? We just spoke. You're so naughty!

You have to leave the area so that he can respawn elsewhere in town, then find him again. On the 5th meeting, he will finally give you a gift. In my case, he gave me a Jingle clock.

Jingle, handing over a gift: I think you'll find that it's something you like!

From that point on, you can get another gift each time you find him…but only if he thinks you’re someone else. So you have to change your shirt each time to trick him. I did this and got four items from him (including one from wearing a pattern). Unlike in City Folk, each pattern won’t work as a successful disguise.

I ran out of shirts, so I was out of luck. But that’s okay, because I was tired of searching all over town for him by that point anyway. 😛

Jingle: I'm only allowed to give gifts to people on my list.

On the bright side, I’ll be able to sell those items for 12,240 bells apiece next time.

If you haven’t yet seen my video showing 26 features from this game that never returned, here it is! Even though I made a similar video before, some of the previous featured returned in Version 2.0 of New Horizons. So this one is up-to-date, and it even includes a few things I missed the first time around. I hope you enjoy it!

Happy Toy Day and Merry Christmas, everyone! 🎄
