Meteor Shower 2021

Unfortunately, Forest is all out of juice. Tangy has been squeezed out of town; I got her goodbye letter in the mail today. Her replacement is Bubbles the hippo. I really don’t like hippos, but she seems fairly nice.

Bubbles: Oh, really? Well, I'm super stoked to meet you, too! You seem nice enough, so let's be friends!

Bubbles previously lived in Forest in 2011.

At Nookington’s, I bought some sky blue paint for my roof. My roof had been an ugly shade of green for far too long. 😛

The annual meteor shower was held tonight, so I went to the lake for the event. Tom and Hank were sitting together. Tom said he was bored by the shooting stars, but he was staying just because Hank wanted to watch them more.

Tom: But Hank wants to stay and watch the meteors some more. What, are they s'posed to do anything else?

Hank told a slightly different story, though. He said he wanted to watch the meteors by himself, but Tom wouldn’t leave him alone. 😀

Hank: I wanna watch the meteors by myself, but Tom won't leave me alone, buhk buhk! Save me!

Meanwhile, Baabara was… well, she was being Baabara.

Baabara: What I mean to say is, leave me alone. I was just trying to be polite. I'm not very good at it, I'm afraid.

As simple as this event is, I love it. The music is so relaxing, ethereal, and nostalgic. It perfectly sets the mood for the event. There’s nothing quite like it.

Tom, Hank, Jeff, and Kody watch the meteor shower in Animal Crossing.

Elsewhere in town, Belle told me that my outfit doesn’t really wow her. 🙄

Belle: Do you really feel like yourself in that outfit? I mean, not to be a snoot, but it doesn't really wow me.

I don’t dress to please you, Belle. Besides, at least I’m not a clone of a previous villager. 😛 On the bright side, she did give me a spiderweb shirt for free.

What if Spider-Man could shoot webs out of his mouth? It may look something like this. 😛

Swinging my net. The end of the net appears to be coming out of my mouth.

I posted a new video that compares the pitfall dialogue of each Animal Crossing game. And of course, it shows a few GameCube villagers falling into pits…so I hope you’ll check it out.

I hope you enjoyed the meteor shower tonight, for those of you who still play. Have a great night (or day), and I’ll see you next time! The great September fishing season is just a few weeks away!

Tangy in Town

I was a bit surprised to see Amelia greeting me as I started up the game today. That meant that Patty, who has lived in town for over 10 months, was the animal leaving…not Amelia. This was Patty’s goodbye letter.

Guess what, Jeff! I realize this is a little cuckoo, but I've decided to move. Have I lost it? No!!! I've just got to try to get a fresh start. I don't even know where I'm going yet! See ya! -Patty

Copper posted a message to the bulletin board, announcing that summer aerobics season started today. I don’t know why, but it made me smile just to know that the event is now underway…even though I don’t plan on participating.

Starting today, I want to see everyone at the wishing well at oh-six-hundred hours! Your friendly neighborhood police dog will whip you into shape for swimsuit season!!!

But then again, who knows…maybe I will give it a go at some point…

There were some beetles on trees, and I caught several of them…even though I didn’t come across any really valuable ones. But I did catch something else that was valuable: an arapaima!

Jeff, catching an arapaima in Animal Crossing: WOW!!!

At Nookington’s, I bought a green tie-dye shirt and put it on. I like changing my clothes every few months, whether I need it or not. 😉

I spoke with Tom over at the wishing well, and he said he was going to start running his own business. So he started listing items for sale, and I had to choose one of them to buy (or I’d be forced to buy the 5th item whether I wanted it or not).

I ended up buying the 4th piece, which was an exotic end table, for 770 bells. It was the only sub-1,000 bell item, so I think I made the right choice.

Tom: If you don't make your choice by the time I get to the fifth piece, you'll be buying it whether you like it or not!

Belle was also trying to run a business. She wanted me to buy a mystery item for all the money in my pockets: 49,330 bells! Obviously, I said no.

Belle: It looks like you've got 49,330 on you. That oughta be enough. What do you think?
Are you insane?!

I was very pleasantly surprised when I saw Patty’s replacement: Tangy the (orange) cat has moved into town!

Tangy: Oh, really? Well, I'm super stoked to meet you, too! You seem nice enough, so let's be friends!

Tangy is one of my favorites, but she’s a villager that rarely seems to move into any of my towns. And most likely, she won’t stick around here long. But I’m glad to see her while I can. 🙂

Between the fish and bugs I caught, the money rock, and some fossils, I actually made over 50,000 bells today. Making 50k might be a bad day in New Horizons, but it’s actually a pretty large amount for GameCube.

I’ll see you all next time! Have a great day. 🙂

Amelia Arrives

When I checked my mail today, I learned that Mallary has ducked out of town. This was her goodbye letter:

Dearest Jeff! During my entire move, I was sure I was forgetting something. You know what it was? I forgot to say adieu to you. I hope this letter will ease your devastation... All the best! -Mallary

I ran into Mallary’s replacement almost immediately: It’s Amelia, the snooty eagle. I’m already not a fan.

Amelia: You don't have to shout! I'm right here, eaglet! And I have delicate ears, so show a little restraint!

Unlike most incoming villagers, Amelia has not lived in Forest since I started this blog in 2011. (She may have lived here before that though, since I didn’t keep track of everyone.) But the only other mention of her in this blog is when she appeared as a camper who gave me a cow skull in 2011.

Emerald the frog told me that the rain was ruining her day. She wanted to make some raviolis, but she said she can’t go shopping in the rain? Why not? You’re outside standing in the rain anyway, so what’s the big deal?

Emerald: I really want to whip up some raviolis, but I can't go shopping in this rain...

When I spoke with Sydney, she begged me to take her to another town! Sorry, but I’m not taking you anywhere. I’ve secretly destroyed the train. 😛

Sydney: So, would you please take me to another village, sunshine? Please?

Ursala was looking forward to the fireworks festival next week, but it sounds like she enjoys watching the other villagers more than the fireworks themselves!

Ursala: Everybody hangs out by the lake, necks craned up at the sky, jaws dropping in awe at the fireworks.
They must see something I don’t see, because I have to look down at the lake to see the fireworks.

She thinks everyone looks like silly guppies. 😛

Ursala: I love how silly they all look, grooomph! Like big guppies or something!

Gulliver was washed up on the beach, so I “saved his life” by waking him up. He gave me a free matryoshka. What a doll.

Gulliver: Thanks for the whole saving my life thing. May your sails stay full and your socks stay dry!

Patty asked me to help her get through a maze in her Nintendo Power magazine (by choosing left or right several times). This bit of dialogue used to annoy me so much, mainly because I used to see it very often. But for whatever reason, I hadn’t seen it in a while!

Patty: I'm trying to get through the maze in the back of my Nintendo Power, but it's too hard! I can't find the end!

If you haven’t seen my latest video, which I posted a couple weeks ago, here it is: GameCube Moments #17.

Never Stop Crossing! 🙂
