Cherry Blossom Festival

Freya the wolf has moved out of town. I got her goodbye letter in the mail today.

Freya's goodbye letter.I saw a new house close to where Belle lives, and I met my new neighbor, Pierce the eagle. I’ve had him in ACCF before.

Meeting Pierce.Belle wasn’t home, but I found her visiting the pond near Sydney’s house. She was talking about horoscopes and how she takes hers very seriously.

Belle: The future is bound to happen! After that, I made my way over to the wishing well. Even though New Leaf and City Folk have cherry blossom petals falling from the sky, the GameCube version of Animal Crossing has a three-day festival devoted to them.

Maple: Look at the cherry blossom petal in my juice. It's a work of art! There are tables filled with food and drinks, and several animals will be found here, laughing, dancing, and having a good time.

Kody dances at the cherry blossom festival, and Genji laughs at him.Not only does the festival have its own music, but each hourly song also has a special version, just for this event each April 5-7. It sounds soothing and relaxing. I don’t know why Nintendo hasn’t brought this event back in subsequent games, but it remains one of the GameCube game’s exclusive features.

Hank: I've forgotten about all my worries.Kody: Shake what your momma gave ya! Dance like you mean it!Bertha: This is better than yoga!Once I was done enjoying the festivities, I stopped at the post office and then returned home for the night.

Carrie Out

As expected, Carrie the kangaroo has quickly hopped on out of town. I got her goodbye letter in the mail.

Carrie's goodbye letter.I went to shop at Nookington’s, and when I went upstairs, I was greeted by the big creepy face of a totem pole!

Totem pole on sale at Nookington'sI hadn’t changed my shirt in months, so I decided to buy this deep blue tee.

Timmy: That would be a deep blue tee you're looking at.After putting it on, I continued my walk. Puck told me he was one day away from forgetting all about me.

Puck: I almost forgot about you! Ha-ha-ha-ha!It’s not that funny, Puck. Moving along, I soon saw a new house. It belongs to my new neighbor, Bertha the hippo.

Meeting Bertha. She lives in acre E-5, next to Maple. I believe it’s the same spot where Hank used to live. While making train rides years ago, I was shocked to find that Hank had moved to my secondary town Ohio. I was determined to get him back, so I had my Ohio character travel to Forest a bunch of times. It resulted in a lot of movement of characters from Forest to Ohio and vice versa. It got crazy when Belle from Ohio moved into Forest…because Forest already had a Belle! My original Belle moved out eventually, but the Ohio Belle still remains. Eventually, Hank moved back to Forest and I decided to stop traveling by train; it’s too risky!

Just down the ramp, Static was his usual friendly self.

Static: Shut up! Shut up! SHUTUPSHUTUPSHUTUP!Meanwhile, Hank was looking forward to seeing the flowers bloom. And nearby, Sydney and Baabara apparently just had an argument. Baabara was feeling a little blue.

Baabara: I have a lot on my mind. I'm feeling rather blue. And Candi was expecting me to change the weather, just so she can use her umbrella. Yeah, I’ll get right on that.Candi: I need you to make it rain. And be quick about it!I finished up with a stop at the post office and then returned home for the night.

Trading Items

Mitzi the cat has wandered away from Forest; I got her goodbye letter in the mail today.

Mitzi's goodbye letter.I had been asked by Savannah on Youtube (another Animal Crossing player–not the zebra) to send her a green bed. So I went up to Nookington’s to do that today. Nook generated the password for her, and I sent it to her in a Youtube message. It’s interesting when you think that City Folk and Wild World will soon be losing their ability to trade items with players over the internet, yet trading in the GameCube game can continue indefinitely. Animal Crossing was ahead of its time.

Getting a password to send an item.I found Gulliver down on the beach, and he told me another tall tale of how he ended up in the ocean. He then gave me a shogi piece as a reward for “saving” him.

Gulliver: ...when a wave snatched me off the deck!I talked to Sydney today, and apparently that’s the first time I’ve spoken with her in two months. She was looking very mopey and depressed.

Sydney: I've been searching for you for weeks. She cheered up briefly when she went into her sales pitch mode, though. She tried to talk me into buying some wood paneling for 3,000 bells. However, her frown quickly returned when I declined the offer.

I circled around town and I soon bumped into my new neighbor, Carrie the kangaroo (and her child). They seem nice, but I’m afraid they won’t stick around long. I bet they’ll be hopping away in a matter of weeks.

Meeting Carrie. After stopping at the post office and pulling the last few weeds I saw, I returned home and ended my game.
