Christmas is coming, and it’s starting to show. Snow now covers the ground in Animal Crossing, and Christmas lights are now flickering on many of the trees in town. It’s making things look really nice.

Stella the purple sheep, who just recently moved into town, has already moved out. I got her goodbye letter in the mail today.

I met up with Static near the bottom of the waterfall, and he wanted to play a game where he pretends to be Crazy Redd.

You know, it’s the game where you’re forced to buy one of five items he has for sale.

This is one of those things I don’t like about the GameCube game. Fortunately, there will be one item that’s priced under 1,000 bells and that’s how I determine what to buy. This time, I ended up with an office desk for 560 bells.

Anyway, I went to meet my new villager Midge, but she was already asleep. What kind of animal is in bed by 9:00 p.m.? I don’t think her and I are going to see eye to eye.

Over by the wishing well, Hank was telling me how fun it is to cut trees down. I don’t know about you, but I find it hard to picture a chicken holding an axe, let alone cutting down a tree.

Once I completed my walk around town, I finished up by depositing some money into my bank account at the post office and mailing some fossils away. I then returned to the warmth of my home. Be sure to bundle up everyone, it’s cold out there!

The day after Thanksgiving is Sale Day in Animal Crossing, so I headed up to Nookington’s to check out the deals. The first floor was filled with grab bags for 2,013 bells each. Each one contains three items, which are often shirts, pinwheels, carpets, or wallpapers.

The pinwheels are bigger and better-looking than the ones in later Animal Crossing games. I went running around with this flower pinwheel spinning in the animals’ faces when I spoke with them. Belle asked a good question about the trees in the game. She wondered why trees that are cut down just disappear as soon as they hit the ground.

I then went to meet my newest neighbor, Stella. She’s a purple sheep that never made it to the later Animal Crossing games. Her default catchphrase is baa-da-bing.

Tortimer was celebrating Sale Day over at the wishing well. He will give you a market model the first time you attend on Sale Day, but of course the GameCube game only gives holiday items once (not every year like in later games). So he didn’t have anything for me this time, except some words expressing excitement about the upcoming holiday season.

Another feature of Sale Day is that Crazy Redd will be somewhere in town (after 6:00 p.m.). There is a cool glitch that only works on Sale Day, so I made sure to do it today. First, you have to find Redd’s tent and buy all three items he has. This can be expensive, but it’s worth it if you’ve never seen this glitch for yourself. So I bought his items, including this overpriced Golf NES game for 12,000 bells.

After buying everything, leave the tent. You’ll see the door is now closed. If you quickly leave and re-enter the acre, you’ll see the tent disappear completely. But it’s not gone for good; the tent will reappear somewhere else in town, without Redd in front. Do not go in it, or you’ll have to buy all his items once again for this to work. Instead, keep looking at all your sign posts around town. You will find Crazy Redd standing in front of one of them, without his tent!

Speak with him and when he’s finished, he will walk into the sign post and disappear right before your eyes!

I got a goodbye letter from Coco today. She moved out pretty quickly. Nestle Quikly.

Coco’s replacement has not moved in yet, so I have 14 villagers at the moment. But that didn’t stop Maple from talking about moving out of town herself.

For some reason, I told her I’d miss her if she left. But I don’t think these conversations actually mean anything on GameCube anyway.

Hank was looking forward to the harvest festival; he can’t wait to stuff his gut!

Tom asked if I liked playing sports, and I said yes. So he said I look like someone who likes tumbling! Only if you mean Tumblr.

After speaking with Emerald, I spotted a moving shadow go across the ground. It was a balloon present! It flew north to south, and I followed it all the way down. At least twice, it looked like it should have gotten stuck in trees that had nothing in them (no fruit or bugs), but for whatever reason, it went all the way out to the ocean. Once it got there, it took a sharp turn upwards and disappeared from view.
