Goodbye Chow, Hello Rizzo

I got a letter in the mail from Chow; he has moved out of town.

Chow's goodbye letter.I started my walk around town and saw a summer camper’s tent! I went inside and said hello to Ace. He called his tent the home base of the ultimate camping experience.

Ace: Welcome to Ace's tent, the home base of the ultimate camping experience.
Does he really believe that, or is that just his poker face?

I played a game with him where I had to guess which kind of fish he caught. I guessed “large char,” but he said I was wrong. So he got to take my mega fizzoid for free.

I noticed a new house over in Puck’s acre. It belonged to Forest’s newest resident, Rizzo the mouse.

Meeting Rizzo. As I walked around the lake, I saw a big shadow in the water. That’s fairly unusual, so I knew it was probably something good. I fished it out, and it was a giant catfish! It’s worth 3,000 bells.

I caught a giant catfish!I actually talked to Belle for a change, and she was telling me about how she snuck into Static’s house to play NES games! She said Officer Copper chewed her out for that.

Belle: I snuck into Static's house to play NES, and I got caught!I had a lot of weeds in town, so I was pulling up as many as I could find. When I talked to Baabara, she asked me if I wanted to hear her dieting tips. I chose to say the “BO-ring!” option and she got quite offended. So she insults my weight, says that I have the maturity of a six-year-old, and then calls me a big loser.

Baabara: You big loser!
This is why I don’t like you, Baabara.

Over by the ocean, I made the mistake of speaking to Ursala. She forced me to buy some of her clothes.

Ursala: I'll do you the sublime favor of selling you my used clothes. It was one of those games where they list five items, one at a time, along with a price. For each one, you can buy or pass. But if you pass on the first four items, you are forced to buy the fifth one no matter what. In my experience, these games will have one item that’s priced under 1,000 bells, and all the others will be more. So I followed that strategy and bought the second item, a misty shirt, for 870 bells.

And since it’s Saturday night, I stopped over at the train station to watch (and hear) K.K. perform a song. He sang Imperial K.K. for me.

K.K.: You tapped for tunes? No problem. Dig this one, man.

Hungry Animal Night

Tom Nook sent me an enticing offer in the mail today.

Letter: We have a special offer today on a stunning haz-mat barrel. As hard as it was, I somehow I managed to resist the urge to buy that stunning haz-mat barrel. But I did spot Chow sneaking around behind Nookington’s. When I went to see what was up, he quickly gave me a gift to get me to leave. I think he may be been burying a body back there.

Chow: You want this apple TV?Making my way around town, I ran into Puck. Not surprisingly, he was talking about food. Mmm, potato salad…

Puck: It's a great day for a potluck! I'd even bring the potato salad.I started to notice food was a recurring theme in Forest tonight. Everybody must be starving! Static thought he smelled chili dogs. Mmm, chili dogs.

Static: Sniff, sniff... I smell chili dogs!Robin also seemed to be hungry. But she wanted me to cook dinner for her. Every day! Sorry, but worm dishes aren’t my specialty.

Robin: I know! You could make my dinner every day!

Chow Time

I got a letter in the mail from Cyrano. It was a goodbye letter, as he has moved out of town.

Cyrano's goodbye letter. So I went to meet his replacement, Chow. He is a cranky panda bear, and he doesn’t seem very friendly.

Chow: Are you blabbing at me? Is that a poor attempt at communication? And nearby, Puck amazed me with his intelligence. Who knew we could stop rain just by waiting?

Puck: How do we stop all this rain? Just wait for the rainy season to end!A bit later, Kody showed me a letter he got.

A poem sent to Kody from an unknown poet. With all those pandas on the stationery, I wonder if Chow had something to do with it. But all Kody could think about was whether it was a love letter. He hoped it wasn’t.Kody: I wonder if it's a love poem! I hope not.And for once, Ursala said something I agree with.

Ursala: The night's far too beautiful to go to bed so early.Enjoy your beautiful night and I’ll see you next time!
