Fishing Tournament

I started up the game and saw that the fishing tournament was in progress. However, it only had a few minutes left, so I didn’t participate.

Tom: This here's my spot. Ain't nobody gonna pry me from it today.Katrina’s tent was there, so I stopped in and got my fortune told. She told me that money would be coming my way.

Katrina: On a train, a scared-stiff board game will be yelling loudly...I circled around town, and when I got to Static’s acre, Static appeared to fall from the sky! You can’t really tell by the picture so much, but I will likely include a video of it in a future “GameCube Moments” video on Youtube.

Static falling from the sky?I found the day’s money rock, but I messed up and only got five money bags from it. However, Katrina’s spell increased the value of them. Two of them were 10,000 bell bags and the other three were 1,000 bell bags. So instead of 2,300 bells, it was 23,000 bells. That 50 bells for the fortune really paid off.

Ursala then asked me if I ever notice things like who’s dating who and who’s mad at who. I told her not really, and she called me a liar. What nerve.

Ursala: Oh, you're such a liar!So I made a nice little spot for her.

Putting Ursala in jail.On my way back home, I checked the bulletin board to see who won the fishing tournament. It was Mint, who won with a 17-inch fish.

Champion: Mint, for catching a 17-incher!

Carmen Out, Mint In, and a Wild Goose Chase

I started up the game and found a goodbye letter in my mailbox; it was from Carmen.

Carmen's goodbye letter. That means I had a new villager in town…turns out it’s Mint the squirrel. Mint is also currently in my ACCF town.

Meeting Mint. While talking to Ursala, I accidentally asked for a job. She asked me to pick up her comic book from Mint’s house.

Ursala: Mint borrows stuff but then never returns it! Beware the scoundrel! So I went to see Mint, but she had loaned the comic book to Belle.

Mint: Oh, but I lent that to Belle quite a long time ago!So I went over to Belle’s house. But she said Genji took it from her.

Belle: Actually, Genji just came and took the comic book from me with no explanation! So I went over to Genji’s. Fortunately, he still had the comic book and he gave it back to me.

Genji: Here's the comic book. Totally slipped my mind.Ursala was happy to have it back, and she rewarded me with…a wavy pink shirt. Ugh.

Ursala: Impressive! Most impressive! You're incredible!I didn’t want to wear that, and I didn’t want to keep wearing my ruined clothes from Halloween, so I checked the lost and found at the police station. They had a snappy print shirt, so I took that and put it on before I headed for home.

Halloween

I spent most of the night playing the Halloween festival in City Folk, so I didn’t have much time to play the GameCube game. But still, I wanted at least a little taste of the action.

The first thing I noticed was how vicious the animals are on GameCube. They don’t stroll around, they CHARGE at you, full speed. Or they’ll hide behind a tree and wait until you’re close and strike. They’re fierce. And it’s not like City Folk where half of the animals are indoors, no. All FIFTEEN of your villagers are outside (no sleeping tonight) and they will all ambush you. The festival is a cakewalk on City Folk, and this is a real challenge…especially if you have limited candy.

Tutu: Fine! I've got ways of dealing with people like you, twinkles! The only beings that don’t harass you are Jack…

Jack: Of course, only a fool would dare go out on Halloween without some candy.…and Tortimer.

Tortimer: It's a smart policy not to walk around with anything you find valuable.Somehow I managed to find Jack twice in a relatively short amount of time. I got the spooky carpet and the spooky sofa.

At one point, I saw a balloon present go by. It was a red one. For some reason, that really stood out to me. I don’t think many balloon presents are red, are they? Or maybe it just stood out because the bright red balloon landed in a bright gold tree.

A balloon present on a red balloon lands in a golden tree.At any rate,  I shook the tree and opened the present. Oddly enough, it contained a bright red apple. I then headed for home. Here are a couple more pictures of my friendly animal neighbors tonight.

Carmen: You loser! Take this, bumpkin!Puck: You have to keep giving candy 'till it hurts! Give all you've got!
