Familiar Faces

It was raining in Forest today. That was the good news. The bad news? Guess who’s back.

Katie: Oh, poo! I'm l-lost again! WAAAAAAHHHHHH!Katie again. She was just here last week! With Katie getting lost twice and Jambette moving in, it has not been a good 8 days in Forest. For the moment, I ignored her and moved along.

I went to the city and saw a former villager of mine, Lolly. She’s one of my favorite animals in the game. She mentioned seeing Megan recently.

Lolly: I couldn't help but stare. I think she was from May West, bonbon.I also saw another former villager of mine, Francine. As you can probably tell by my nickname for her (Frankengaga), she is not one of my favorites. Check out the equally creepy pig over her shoulder.

Francine: I've got time to kill before my next appointment, so I was thinking about going to the Marquee...Later on in the day, Megan invited me over to her town–not even realizing that she had the mother cat in her town. I went over to return the lost kitten and I returned some pitfall seeds I borrowed. While I was there, Savannah was flirting with me.

Savannah: It's raining in May West, but it's sunny in my heart, and that's all because of you, partner!Megan had a path lined with seashells. She said it’s for a game she’s working on. Interesting.

Jeff: Shell Street?Yann also came over to May West for a visit. I saw another former villager of mine, Ruby the alien rabbit.

Ruby: I'm Ruby! And you're...Megan informed me that the tree I planted the other day actually survived. Good to know.

Jeff and Megan, in unison: JEGG TREE!In case you’re wondering about “Jegg,” it’s a nickname of mine that started when Megan made a typo last week or so. She typed Jegg and then corrected it to Jeff, but in making fun of her typo, the name kind of stuck. 😛

At 11:00 (8:00 her time), Megan closed her gate and I ended my game for the night.

Creepy Crystal DLC

It’s DLC time again, so Pete met me outside my door to deliver the new item from Nintendo. This time, it’s a creepy crystal.

Pete: You have a letter from Nintendo!

Dear Jeff, Gaze into the creepy crystal and a vision emerges...of a frighteningly stylish house! -Nintendo

The creepy crystal is a crystal ball like a fortune teller uses…so Katrina isn’t the only one in Animal Crossing that has one now. When you press the A button, a skull face appears in the ball.

A skull face appears in the creepy crystal ball DLC.Later, I went back outside to check on my flowers. To my dismay, it turns out that the monthly charm rewards only last one day, not the rest of the month as I had mistakenly assumed. Very disappointing. So I had to go back to watering my flowers.

I heard someone fall into a pitfall seed somewhere, and a bit later, I saw a depressed Bob.

Bob: I feel like cotton candy that someone sat on...Speaking of pitfall seeds, I had some fun with pitfalls of my own after I was done watering flowers. I had experimented with this the other night, but now that I had enough pitfall seeds (thanks to Megan), I put my plan into motion. After watching the title screen sequence, I noticed there is a path that Jambette usually follows. So I planted pitfall seeds along that path.

A line of pitfalls outside of Jambette's house.I then saved and quit my game. Why? Because my plan involved making her fall on the title screen! To see how it turned out, you’ll have to watch this video:

Sunday Summer Sunday

I took the bus to the city to check the new emotions. I decided to get delight again as my “happy” emotion. Delight is the clapping one.

Clerk: What show would you like to see today?I returned to Forest to water my flowers. But there were no wilted flowers today, and I’m pretty sure it didn’t rain yesterday. But Megan told me there was a charm reward if I planted a tree in her town, and I did that last night. I’m hoping the reward was the non-wilting flowers one. That would be hugely awesome for someone with as many flowers as me to be able to go the rest of the month without watering! I’ll keep you posted to see if that is indeed the case.

Update: The monthly charm rewards only last one day, unfortunately.

But moving right along, I spotted a scorpion near the river. I backed up, got my net out, and crept towards it. It was hiding behind a tree and I wasn’t quite sure if it was still there or not. But I got close to where I thought I saw something, swung my net, and caught it.

I caught a scorpion! It looks kind of crabby to me...I went into The Roost and had a cup of coffee next to Phyllis. For some reason, it wouldn’t let me save the pictures I took of her talking to me. I tried about five times, and none of them would save.

Me and Phyllis enjoying coffee in the Roost.Avery approached me and said he wanted to move out of Forest (already?!). I told him not to go, and he decided to stay.

Avery: And moving's such a hassle, anyway. All right, you've convinced me. I'll stay in Forest!Rowan asked me what I thought of him. I told him he rules. He liked that.

Rowan: I bet we'd make a sweet crime-fighting, tag-team wrestling duo, inside me!I figured I’d do a little bug-hunting before I ended my game for the night. I decided I’d go from Nook’s, down to the right end of the beach, then left across the entire beach and back to Nook’s again. If I earned less than 20,000 bells in that span, I would stop there.

So I made the trip and ended up with over 21,000 bells. I gave the trip another try, and again I made over 21,000 bells. My third trip wasn’t as lucky; I only caught three dynastid beetles which netted me a total of only 4,050 bells. So I called it a night. But on my last beach walk, I did talk to Del. He asked me for a new greeting, so I gave him one.

Del: I ate my kids! The kids will love that like a clown made of balloons, you punk!
