Return of Elmer

Becky officially moved out on Saturday morning. This was her goodbye letter:

Becky's goodbye letter in Animal Crossing: City Folk.Today, there was a message on the bulletin board telling of the big snowfall expected tomorrow. So snow will cover the ground starting on Wednesday. But the sky was clear tonight, providing a good view of the meteor shower overhead.

A shooting star flies by the Big Dipper constellation in the night sky.I found a new house in the same spot where Becky lived. It’s the house next door to me, where Cyrano and then Del used to live. This spot never stays empty for long. So I went inside to meet my new villager, and I find out it’s actually a returning old villager of mine, Elmer! I had him in my town back in 2009.

Elmer: I just moved here today from Village, so I'm still cleaning up. Oh, I'm Elmer, by the way. This Elmer moved in from Brian’s town, Village. Hopefully he’ll stick around longer this time.

Friday Night Finale

(Note for clarification: Despite the name of this entry, it was not the final Friday Night Forest. The final FNF was on 5-2-14, and the final Wi-Fi night was 5-19-14.)

Being the first Friday of the month, this was my ACCF night. So I opened up my gate around 10:00, although no one came in right away. It was snowing in town, so I didn’t need to water my flowers.

Snow falls in Forest as I stand on my bridge.I bought a large festive tree from Nook ‘n’ Go and put it in my house.

A large festive tree on display in my house.Around 10:20, Brian came over to visit. This was the new Brian I added last month, not the Brian that used to visit.

Jeff and Brian say hello to each other.I showed him my houses and I showed him where my free flower area was. In Nook’s, we both went to the PTS machine at the same time and we merged momentarily.

Welcome to Nook's Point-Tracking System.Nobody else came to visit, which was disappointing. I ended the party at 11:00, and I’ve decided to end my “first Friday of the month” scheduled gate openings. I’ll still play on Wi-Fi occasionally, but it’s not going to be on a regular basis any more.

Becky Boxed Up

The other day, Lily was singing her old town tune from Tropical. She said it still haunts her.

Lily: Now that I've moved, it still haunts me, but it's nice to be reminded of my old life, down under! And last night, Saharah was in town. So I started asking my villagers for old wallpaper. But when I got to Rowan, he just kept talking about my mummy shirt and how I’m going to stretch it out by wearing it so much. Guess he doesn’t know these things can last thousands of years!

Rowan: If you keep wearin' that all the time, you'll stretch out the elastic! Then it'll be all floppy and weird. But the option to ask him for wallpaper wasn’t coming up. I talked to other animals too, and I couldn’t ask them either. I figured out that it must have ended at the stroke of midnight. Saharah must have turned into a pumpkin and I was out of luck. It is kind of weird that Animal Crossing days start at 6 a.m. for most things, but other things change at midnight. Oh well.

Today, I found Becky all packed up in boxes. I prefer chickens in buckets, not boxes. But she’ll be gone soon regardless.

Becky: I'm getting ready to move out of town, like we talked about.Octavian asked me to catch a mole cricket for him. So I kept my ears open as I made my walk around town. Once I heard one, I started digging. And digging. And then I dug some more. Eventually I found the little bugger and caught him before he went over the cliff like a Lemming.

I caught a mole cricket! Proceeding with interrogation!I took it back to Octavian and he rewarded me with 552 bells.

Octavian: At last! You brought it! The mole cricket is finally mine! Thanks, glub glub!Just a reminder that tomorrow is the first Friday of the month, which means I’ll be opening my ACCF gate at 10 p.m. Eastern time. For those of you already on my roster, feel free to stop by!
