Today is New Year’s Day and I had a bunch of letters in my mailbox wishing me a happy new year. “Mom” sent me a letter with 1,000 bells attached. I also received good new year’s wishes from Static, Broccolo, Friga, and Twiggy.
I quickly headed over to town hall to get my free gift from Mayor Tortimer: A New Year 2016 shirt!
It’s the year of the monkey, so this year’s shirt has a monkey on the front and 2016 on the back. I’m not a fan of the color, but I’ll wear it for a while.
I temporarily took the shirt off, just to see how it looks lined up with my others. Here are the New Year shirts from 2010-2016. Sadly, I didn’t keep the 2009 one (apparently).
All of the villagers in town talked about the new year. Static was actually a bit sad; he called himself old. But everyone else seemed to be in a good mood, looking forward to the new year.
But Twiggy had a confusing way of wishing me a happy new year.
The new year also brought a new villager to Forest! Benedict the red rooster has just moved in! Benedict lived in my New Leaf town for most of 2013, and I grew to like him. He’s my 3rd favorite chicken in the series, behind Hank and Egbert.
After meeting him, I noticed that his house messed up my path!
But the most interesting thing is where he lives: It’s very rare for that spot to be occupied! It’s just east of where Bob’s house was, and I can’t remember the last time anyone lived there.
Everyone has different hopes, dreams, and goals for the new year. But as for what Broccolo wants? Well, it kind of stinks.
That’s all for now, but I’ll be back with more next time. Remember to pick up your 2016 shirt from Tortimer, if you collect them like I do! Happy New Year, everyone! I hope 2016 is a great year for you! 🙂
