Pig Out

Lucy the pig was all packed up and ready to move out. Excuse me if I squeal with joy. 😛 Okay, maybe Lucy wasn’t that bad, but maybe it’s just that the timing wasn’t right. Maybe we’ll meet again someday, Lucy.

Lucy: Oh, Chill J... I know we talked about this before, but I've decided it's time to move on.

Saturday night is K.K. Slider night in Animal Crossing games (well, not always in New Horizons). But some of my villagers were excited about the show tonight. Violet even said she would show up at the concert, in a thong!

Violet: There's a song I really want to hear, so I'm hoping to make it to his show later, in a thong.

I didn’t want to be there later when Violet was letting all her purple fur hang out, so I went to the Roost right away. K.K. performed K.K. March for me.

K.K.: All right, get ready to dig the riffs on this ditty: K.K. March.

Later on, Purrl asked me for a new greeting. I had her say “Mario? Oh, Jeff.” That’s a reference to her being in both of my City Folk towns. And speaking of Mushroom, I plan to play in Mushroom soon and post a new Mario Plays ACCF video within the next week or so.

Purrl: Mario? Oh, Jeff...

I went on my usual summer bug hunt, and I felt like I was playing very efficiently. I wasn’t missing any of the valuable bugs. Sure, a lantern fly or two may have gotten away, but they’re not worth that much anyway. However, I didn’t play as long as I did last week. Still, I earned over 160,000 bells in about an hour of total play time. And I didn’t even see a single shark!

Seeing Multiples

Purrl was feeling sick today, so I bought some medicine for her. Get well soon, kitty cat.

Purrl: I haven't felt THIS terrible since I sipped a gallon of fruit punch...
How do you sip an entire gallon?

I got some good news from Lucy tonight: She told me that she’s moving out of town! I did not try to stop her.

Lucy: I just feel like I need a fresh start, woof woof.
Are you starting a new life as a dog?

Tom locked himself out of his house, and I fished his key out of the river for him. He’s my new buddy here in Forest, so I should be nice to him…for a while. 😉 Until his grumpy butt starts getting on my nerves in a few weeks. 😀

I caught a key! ...Whose key is this?

He appreciated the help, and he said he would tell everyone that I helped.

Tom: I'm gonna tell everyone how you helped me (but I may skip the part about losing my key in the river)!
It may be a hard story to tell without mentioning that part.

He gave me exactly 600 bells for my reward.

Goldie asked me to find some trendy furniture for her. I tried giving her a school chair that I shot down from a balloon, but it wasn’t trendy enough. So I bought a cabana lamp from Nook’s; she would accept it either. When I later shot down another balloon present, it had a starman inside: She refused it too. I like Goldie, but she’s being very picky tonight. Buying for her is ruff, ruff.

After I was done with all my regular tasks, I went bug-hunting. Back and forth across the beach, sometimes moving to other parts of town as well. At one point, I spotted three moths hanging out in front of Kitty’s house! Three moths in one place may be a common occurrence in real life, but it doesn’t happen very often in Animal Crossing games. I ran around to scare them all away.

And just seconds later, I spotted two sharks together…after not seeing any sharks for nearly an hour of play time before that.

Two sharks show up on-screen at once.

I played for about an hour and 20 minutes tonight. Some of my notable catches include a scorpion, a hercules beetle, three giant beetles, two rainbow stags, an elephant beetle, two atlas beetles, three scarab beetles, two goliath beetles, two hammerhead sharks, one regular shark, and at least five emperor butterflies. My best run of the night scored me 70k bells, but I made about 230,000 bells overall.

Tom Nook: Ah, for all of that, I'll give you 70,200 bells!

Of the three scarab beetles I found, two of them were appeared at the same time, right next to each other. I seemed to be finding many bugs and fish in bunches tonight. 😛

Are any of you enjoying the summer bug-hunting fun? If so, tell me how it’s going in the comments! I’ll see you all next time. 🙂

Stopping Wisp

Goldie is over her coldie cold, and she sent me a thank-you letter in the mail. She attached a cello to the letter, which seems like a totally reasonable reward for medicine. 😂

On the beach, I was a bit surprised when I ran into Wisp. I guess it’s been a while since I’ve seen him in City Folk.

Jeff runs into Wisp on the beach in Animal Crossing: City Folk.

I just realized a difference in Wisp’s behavior when comparing City Folk and New Horizons. In City Folk, Wisp typically appears in the south part of town near the beach, and in New Horizons, he generally appears in the northern part of town, on the cliffs.

Anyway, he asked me to find his lamp for him.

When I visited Lucy, she asked how I liked her outfit. But she was standing behind a screen, so I couldn’t exactly see it very well.

Lucy, standing behind a screen: What do you think of this top I'm wearing? Nice, hm, I'm awful?

Goldie asked me to make a delivery to Tom, and I agreed to help out. But Tom seriously disliked the gift.

Tom: Wow, it's like Goldie didn't even try to listen when I was describing what I wanted.

Goldie was sad to hear the news, but she gave me a kitschy wall for helping her out.

I ran into Tom again later, and he was talking about using wildflowers as decorations inside your house. But the interesting part is that Wisp was spawning as I spoke with Tom, and Wisp’s animation froze in this frame for the duration of my conversation!

Tom: It kinda makes you look like a cheapskate, but whatever.
He looked like he’d seen a ghost!

I eventually found Wisp’s empty lamp, and I took it back to him. He made me meet him in my attic to get my reward; he gave me a fan palm for helping out.

I listened in on a conversation between Wolfgang and Tom, and they were talking about food. Wolfgang said that his favorite thing to eat is an almond jelly with cream and honey on top. He said he had it recently when he took his niece out for lunch. Tom couldn’t believe the girl was his niece; he thought Wolfgang was blackmailing the girl into having lunch with him! 😮

Tom: That was your niece?! I figured you must be blackmailing that poor girl to have lunch with you!

I went bug-hunting, but I think it was a bit too early for the bugs to peak. I was playing in the 9 p.m. hour, and I typically have better luck after 11 p.m. I did end up making 110,000 bells on the night, but that took me about half an hour longer than my session last week (when I earned 150k).
