Curt, Turkey

On Saturday, I received three letters in the mail. That included Rizzo’s goodbye letter and a letter from Wolfgang, thanking me for the recent medicine. But I also received a letter from Queenie, who finally responded to the letter I sent her on her birthday. She thanked me for the letter and gift, but she did not specifically acknowledge that it was her birthday.

Dear Jeff, Your letter and present were so very thoughtful! I planned to give you this in person, but I got tired of waiting. So here it is! I won't spoil the surprise! -From: Queenie
Spoiler alert: it was a lovely carpet.

On Tuesday, I spontaneously decided to buy an axe and throw it in the fountain. Serena popped up, and surprisingly, she actually gave me a silver axe. Of course I’ve earned silver axes before, but it’s fairly uncommon. She typically keeps your axe or gives you the same one back.

Serena: Silver axes are pretty nice, too. Definitely up there in the whole precious-metal-axe scene.

Today (Thursday) is Thanksgiving in the U.S., which is known as the harvest festival in this game. Mayor Tortimer was outside of town hall, saying that today is the day we feast like kings. Or pigs. Or teddy bears. Yeah, something like that.

Tortimer: Today we feast like kings! Today we gorge like pigs! Today we stuff ourselves like teddy bears!

He gave me a knife and fork, and I had to keep an eye out for Franklin. But before I found the hiding turkey, I spotted a new house in town. Rizzo’s replacement is Curt the cranky bear.

Curt: Well, whoever you are, you've got nerve busting into a stranger's house without so much as a word!
Here’s your word: Goodbye.

That’s not exactly much of an improvement. Not much at all.

A few minutes later, I found Franklin freaking out behind Guest’s house.

Franklin: I'm freakin' out here!

I gave him my knife and fork, and he gave me a harvest chair. I went back to Tortimer to get some more silverware, and I continued searching for Franklin.

I repeated the process over and over. Ultimately, I found him nine times and earned nine pieces of the harvest furniture set. I sold them all for 27,864 bells, which doesn’t sound like nearly enough considering how much work it is to keep saving his life. 😛

In the city, Phineas gave me an orange balloon. I realized that I now have one color of each balloon (at least the standard balloons, not counting bunny balloons). So I started to straighten up my incredibly messy main room. I still have pitfalls everywhere, but this is actually cleaner than it was. 😛

Balloons and New Year's shirts in my house.

I posted a new video taking a look at 16 things that City Folk has introduced to the Animal Crossing series, which are still around today. I’ve had this video in the works for a long time, but I was waiting for the big New Horizons update to arrive. (Three of these things weren’t originally in the video until they were re-added in Version 2.0.)

I hope you all had a good Harvest Festival, Thanksgiving, Turkey Day, and/or Thursday!

Rizzo Exterminated

Rizzo was all packed up to move out today. It’s a great sight to see!

Rizzo: I've got everything packed, but it's going to be kinda lonely leaving this place behind...woof woof.

Saharah was in town, looking for old carpets. Even though Saharah claims to be from a far-off land, Goldie isn’t sure she believes it. Could it all be an act?

Goldie: Actually...I don't know how far off, or how distant, or if she's really even from there. Maybe it's all an act!

I couldn’t ask Rizzo for carpet since he’s leaving, and I couldn’t ask Wolfgang because he was sick. But I did give him some medicine.

Wolfgang: ...I don't need medicine... What do you mean, I can stop playing tough guy? Gimme that, wolfman!

Of my remaining villagers, exactly zero had old carpets to give me. It seems like I’m never going to get that lunar surface.

Simon: Oh, old carpets! I just went and traded mine for a sweet new one!

Kapp’n was enjoying some coffee at the Roost today. But he said coffee goes best with some cucumber slices! Ugh! Never!

Kapp'n: P'raps ye don't be knowin' this, but good coffee be best enjoyed with a few slices o' cucumber...

By the way, I did not receive a reply from Queenie about the birthday greeting I sent her on her birthday. Perhaps they only reply if the letter is sent early enough (before the mail goes out at 5 p.m.) on their birthday? I’m not sure, but I’ll have to test this again sometime.

Today is the 13th anniversary of ACCF’s release! I posted my annual slideshow of screenshots taken in the past year. Check it out if you’re interested! And happy ACCF anniversary! 🙂

Plantlike Furniture

Last Sunday, Lucky asked me to play a game of hide-and-seek. He gave me 15 minutes to find him, Big Top, and Gwen.

Lucky: If you find all 3 of us in 15 minutes or less, you win! If you don't find everyone, we win!

It took me less than two minutes to find Gwen, who was trying to hide behind a sign post!

Another two minutes passed by before I found Lucky. He was hiding behind the lone unoccupied house in town. However, I had a hard time finding Big Top. It wasn’t until my third trip around town (with less than two minutes remaining) that I found him behind town hall. Still, I won the game, and Lucky rewarded me with a daffodil table.

Yesterday, Simon asked me for some “plantlike” furniture. Why doesn’t he just ask me for a plant? 😛 ðŸŠī

Simon: The best furniture is plantlike stuff, 'cause all you gotta do is plop it down anywhere...
“I just plop down flowers…”

His phrasing may be a bit awkward, but I’ve seen worse. Like when Portia asked me for TV-tastic furniture last year. Yikes.

Anyway, there wasn’t any plantlike furniture at Nook’s shop, at Redd’s shop, or in the lost and found. I tried giving him a mush stool that was today’s fake mushroom, but he wouldn’t accept it. So I ordered a holly bonsai for him.

The plantlike holly bonsai arrived in the mail today, and I took it over to Simon. He seemed to like it, and he gave me a lovely carpet to thank me.

Simon: This holly bonsai furniture is making me feel chiller already!

Rizzo had some very good news for me today: He wants to move out of town! I’m an understanding friend, so I encouraged him to follow his dreams and wander off to another town. 😉

Rizzo: I'm a wandered, and I can only stay in one place for so long.

I’m glad he’s not sticking around as long as he did in my New Horizons town! It took me over a year to get rid of him there!

I saw on the bulletin board that today is Queenie’s birthday. This game doesn’t have birthday parties or anything, but I decided to wish her happy birthday in a letter. I even bought her a hamster cage and attached it as her birthday gift.

Queenie, Happy birthday, friend! I hope you have a great day! Here, have a hamster.

At the Roost tonight, K.K. Slider performed K.K. Sonata for me. It’s pretty good, even if it is a slow and sad song.

K.K.: All right, get ready to dig the riffs on this ditty: K.K. Sonata.

Wolfgang has been sick with a cold, so I gave him some medicine yesterday, and then again today. Get well soon, you big grump!
