Puckerface City

Yesterday, I received Lucky’s goodbye letter in the mail. He’s a good dog, and I was lucky to have him around for the past year.

Dear Jeff, Moving day is finally here, and I keep thinking of the fun times we had. Those memories are what I'll take with me to my new town, not just boxes and stuff. I'll miss you! -Lucky

Goldie was talking about fishing, and how physically demanding it is…because the fish are so heavy. She said she was trying to take inspiration from me, since I’ve caught every type of fish.

Goldie: I'm trying to take some inspiration from you, boss. You've caught every fish there is!

Springtime has (unofficially) arrived in Animal Crossing games, and all the snow has melted. Big Top was excited because it means that it’s time to have a spring veggie party…whatever that means. 😛

Big Top: It's spring, woof woof! And that can only mean one thing! It's time to have a spring veggie party!
I don’t know, it could probably mean more than just that.

I listened in on a conversation between Goldie and Curt tonight. Goldie said that she recently made some chow mein that was really sour. Curt said that it sounded good to him, and he thought it would be funny to see people take a bite and then make a “puckerface.”

Curt: Nobody would suspect a thing until they took a bite, and then POW! Puckerface city! HAHAHA!
Take me down to the Puckerface City,
where the grass is green & the chow mein’s acidy.

Goldie got furious about that for some reason, and said Curt was absolutely awful. I didn’t really understand that reaction. Goldie herself said the food didn’t turn out right. 🤷‍♀️

Queenie was drinking some coffee at the Roost tonight, and she looked awful…as bad as I’ve seen her. She looks depressed or something. And she was disappointed that it was 11 p.m. and she let the day slip away.

Queenie: Wow, is it already 11? I let the day just slip away from me!

I asked K.K. Slider for a song, and he performed The K. Funk for me (and Queenie, I guess, even though she didn’t turn around the see the show).

Queenie sits at the bar during K.K.'s show.

I posted a new video today that takes a look at some of the insulting things that villagers say about special characters. It includes clips from City Folk, Wild World, and the original GameCube game. Check it out if you’re interested!

Luck Ran Out

I started up the game yesterday, and I was disappointed to see that Lucky was all packed up and moving out of town. 🙁

Lucky: That's right, I'm leaving Forest. It's been great knowing you, but it's time for me to move on now.
Maybe he misses his mummy.

Saharah was in town last night, and she was collecting old carpeting. Unfortunately, none of my villagers had any old carpet to give me! Not a single one!

Curt: Why don't you check with some of our slobbier neighbors, fuzzball?
You’re the slobbiest neighbor I have, so I guess I’m out of luck.

I played again tonight, and the northern lights were shining up in the sky. This is likely my last time seeing them this winter (since the snow will be gone by next Friday), so I stopped by the windmill to snap a photo.

Enjoying the northern lights (aurora) while standing next to my windmill.

To my surprise, Gaston told me that he hates when nature is this beautiful. I couldn’t help but wonder why? Does it make him look even uglier by comparison? 😛

Gaston: Man, I hate it when nature is this beautiful.

Actually, his reasoning is that it should look this good all the time. I don’t know about that; I like my explanation better. 😀

Lucky was still in town today, so I didn’t get his goodbye letter yet.

K.K. Slider was in town for his usual Saturday night show, and I enjoyed his performance of K.K. Sonata.

K.K.: All right, get ready to dig the riffs on this ditty: K.K. Sonata.

See you all next time! Spring is coming! 🙂

Impossible Tourney

Last night (Friday night), there was a heavy meteor shower underway. Maelle said that the clear, starry sky allowed her to see the Big Veggie Chili and the Big Pasta Salad. I’m guessing those are supposed to be constellations (like the Big Dipper)?

Maelle: Oh! I think I see the Big Pasta Salad!

They’re not constellations that I’ve created, though. The game must use random food names for them.

I played again today, and it was fishing tournament day. Believe it or not, I was playing early enough to actually participate for a change! However, I got some bad news before I whipped out my fishing rod. Big Top boasted that he was the proud papa of a 74.6-inch tuna that was currently in the lead.

Big Top: The fish in first place is the 74.6-inch tuna.

You can’t get more deflating than that. I gave it a try, catching several sea bass; but they were all in the 30-50 inch range. My biggest was 46.5 inches. Sea bass just aren’t even in the same ballpark as a tuna. You need to get lucky with a very rare fish like a stringfish or arapaima…and most of those aren’t even in season right now.

Even Curt seemed to recognize the futility of competing in this tourney.

Curt: Does the competition this time around seem unusually tough, fuzzball?

I never managed to catch a tuna or anything larger, so I failed miserably at this tournament. 😛 But at least Chip ate well, I suppose.

Chip: BAAARP!

I found a total of five items in the recycle bin today! In the afternoon, I picked up a kitchen sink, a hamster cage, and a red clock. Then tonight, I found a barber’s pole and a fern fossil. It’s rare to get a haul that big!

Have a great weekend, and I’ll see you next time! Never Stop Crossing! 🙂

Update: I titled this blog entry Impossible Tourney, but now I’m wishing I would have called it Fishin’ Impossible (like Mission: Impossible) instead. Oh well. 😛
