I received Maelle’s goodbye letter in the mail today. I can’t say that I’ll miss her, but she did send a nice letter.
As I spoke with my villagers, a couple of them mentioned that Pascal was in town (standing on a bridge, of course).
I didn’t have any scallops on me, so I had to go looking on the beach for one. Once I tracked one down, I took it back to Pascal. He was talking about birthday parties and free cake. Not exactly the most serious topic for a philosopher, but who doesn’t like free cake? 🎂
He gave me some sea view wallpaper in exchange for the scallop, and then he took a dive into the river.
After making my rounds, I went on a fruit-gathering run. It took me about eight trips with full pockets, but I managed to meet the milestone that I was talking about last week: I have now saved up 50 million bells!
Aside from being a nice, big, round number, it has some slight significance. After 13.5 years of playing this game, I am now halfway to earning the first feather (the green feather). They made these things wayyyyyy too hard to earn, but at least it provides some (very) long-term goals to keep working towards.
If you’re used to New Horizons or New Leaf, let me assure that bells are much harder to come by in the older games. There’s no island filled with tropical bugs year-round, there are no characters that pay bonus for fish or bugs, there’s no “Bell Boom” ordinance, and there aren’t even hot items that earn more money at the shop. Earning money is a slow grind in the older games.
It’s nice to reach this milestone, and someday, that green feather will be mine! 😂 I don’t know if I’ll ever earn the other feathers, but I’ll take life one feather at a time. 😁 See you all next time!
I’ll be looking foward to that green feather in 2035 😉
I’ll be seeing you get that green feather in 2035, Jeff! 😉
