Lost Cities of Gold

Yesterday, I received my award letter from Chip in the mail, from winning last weekend’s fishing tournament. Chip congratulated me for the win, and he sent me my prize: a silver trophy.

Results Announcement: The big winner of the January 21st, 2023, Fishing Tourney is Jeff's 7-inch pond smelt! You're number one! -From Chip

The northern lights were shining up in the sky, and I took a photo of them from right in front of my house. 🙂

The northern lights in Forest.

Hopper was talking about Grizzly and Tom, saying they almost act like family. Then he wondered if they actually were related, mentioning that they look alike! A grizzly bear and a cat?! I don’t think so, Hopper.

Hopper: I wonder if they ARE related? Eh, probably not. ...Though they do look a lot alike, slushie.

Tonight, I went down to the Roost to check out the Saturday night show. I asked for a random song, and K.K. Slider performed K.K. House for me. It’s not a bad song, and I enjoyed the show. 🙂

K.K.: All right, get ready to dig the riffs on this ditty: K.K. House.

Outside, Tom was walking around with a shovel, looking for fossils (even though villagers never actually dig them up). He said it reminded him of being a kid, dreaming of finding lost cities of gold.

Tom: Takes me back to being a kid, dreaming of being an archaeologist and finding lost cities of gold.

I didn’t dig up any gold, but I did find an iron frame in the recycle bin at town hall. I’ll always take free furniture!

Cranky Horse, Fishing Tourney

There was a new house in town, and I found Roscoe the black horse inside.

Roscoe: Wait a minute, who are you? Were you in one of these boxes? Oh, you live in this town?

Roscoe isn’t bad, but of course he is another cranky villager! So once again, I have eight crankies in town! It may have been an interesting novelty at first, but it’s really annoying for my cranky count to keep going back up to eight every time I get rid of one. Ugh!

Anyway, the fishing tournament was held today, and only pond smelts were eligible. But that wasn’t a problem, because the river was loaded with them. I had no trouble catching this one.

I caught a pond smelt! Whew! This guy's ripe!

I took it over to Chip, and he measured it for me: 4.9 inches.

Chip: Ah, it's...a 4.9-incher!

That wasn’t big enough, because Boomer had a 6.1-incher. But I didn’t give up; I caught two more fish. The next one was 6.2 inches, and it took over the top spot! Chip rewarded me with a siphon. The other one was 7.0 inches, and Chip gave me a folk guitar.

In the recycle bin at town hall, I found a country guitar. I wonder if this was someone else’s tourney prize that they didn’t want? 😛

I rode the bus out to the city, and I asked Phineas for a bubble blower. It’s nice that the bubbles are unlimited in this game. 🙂

Phineas: Have you ever noticed when there are bubbles in the air, it's impossible to frown? Or is that just me?

Later on, I returned to the game to see if my 7-inch pond smelt held on for the win. Chip confirmed that it did! I’ll be getting my trophy in the mail next time.

Chip: Today's winner was a fine, succulent 7.0-inch pond smelt. Caught by you!

At the Roost, I told K.K. Slider I was feeling grumpy, and he played K.K. Rock for me.

K.K.: I've got the tune to nix that frown and kick it clean out of town. It's a little ditty called K.K. Rock.

Curt Out of Town

On Monday, I found Curt all packed up and ready to move out of town. 👍

Curt: It's like I was sayin' before. I've made my mind up, and I'm saying good-bye to this little burg.

By today (Wednesday), he was gone. I found his goodbye letter in the mail.

Jeff, Well, I'm finally moving out of Forest tomorrow. If it makes you feel any better, you're the only reason I stayed as long as I did. Thanks, pal. -Curt

Vladimir was enjoying some coffee at the Roost tonight, even though it was after midnight. He may be up all night now! 😉

Vladimir: I got nothing to complain about...as long as the refills keep coming.

I don’t do much fishing in winter, unless I see a huge fish shadow in the river. And that’s what happened tonight; I caught this big stringfish!

OH MY GOSH!

I’d like to think this is the same one that got away on Christmas Eve. 😉 Maybe I just let it enjoy the holidays, then I came back and got it for good tonight. 😆

Harry has been sick with a cold, so I gave him some medicine Monday, and then again tonight. I want him feeling better so he can move out soon. 😉 Of course, I’ll have to get a new villager before someone else can move out…so I’ll see what happens next week.

See you next time!
