Jingle Comes to Town

As expected, I received Midge’s goodbye letter in the mail today.

Dearest Jeff, I'm leaving Forest today... I know it's the right step, but I'm still sad, because I'll be leaving you. I hope I see you again someday. -Signed, Midge

Of course, today is Christmas Eve (aka Toy Day). I grabbed a bunch of hats out of storage, and then I began my search for Jingle as I made my rounds.

When I visited Roscoe, he assumed I was out looking for whoever was out delivering presents. But he assured me it wasn’t him. 😆

Roscoe: Well, better keep looking, 'cause it ain't me.
Literally no one ever suspected you of being Santa, or Jingle for that matter.

A few of my villagers mentioned writing letters to the dude in red. So I mentally replied, “Mario?” 😆

Punchy: I wrote a letter to the dude in red and told him what I wanted for being so good this year.

Robin stated it quite differently, referring to a “red-bellied” guest!

Robin: Oh, Jeff. You're NOT going to stay up late to surprise our red-bellied guest, are you?

Santa (and Jingle) wear red, but they’re not red-bellied! You know who is red-bellied, though? Robins! Not you, Robin, but real robins. 😛

I eventually found Jingle outdoors and he gave me a Jingle bed. Moments later, I found him again…on the moon!

Jingle, seemingly on the moon: All right then. It's time to give you your present!

Well, okay, I guess it was Ruby’s house. But it looked like the moon! 🌑

The northeast part of my town has four villager houses, and it turned out that all four of them were away from home tonight. That was helpful, because I could quickly knock out four of Jingle’s potential hiding spots in rapid succession. Of course he’s not always indoors, so I still had to do some searching when he was outside somewhere. But there were times I found him in this area up to three times in a row!

I kept changing my hats to fool Jingle, and I was wearing a dressing (the mummy bandages) when I went into the Roost. Phyllis was in there, and she mentioned seeing me there before.

Phyllis, in the Roost: Hey. ...I've seen you here before.
How do you know it wasn’t some other mummy? It’s not like you turned around to actually look closely at me.

Back outside, Punchy compared the falling snow to powdered sugar on a chocolate cake. Mmm, that sounds good.

Punchy: It's like... It's like the whole town is a big old chocolate cake and the snow is falling like powdered sugar...

Big Top asked me for a new catchphrase, and I thought I’d tell him to say something along the lines of “in a stocking,” since it’s Christmas Eve. Of course, that’s too long for a catchphrase, so I shortened it to “in a sock.” 🧦

Big Top: What's up, in a sock!

Back on the moon, I ran into Jingle again while wearing my hot dog hat. I couldn’t help but wonder if he was talking about my hat when he said this. 😛

Jingle: So, you're really into huge things.

Anyway, I experimented a bit with mixing accessories. On three consecutive attempts, this is what I wore (on my head):

  • hot dog hat
  • hot dog hat with a red rose
  • hot dog hat with a gold rose

And they all worked just fine to fool Jingle. But there was something else I also tried on my next two attempts. First, I wore nothing on my head and got my gift from Jingle. Then, I purposely got stung by bees. I wanted to see if a bee sting counted as a disguise! 😆 However, it did not fool him (even though it changes your appearance more than putting a rose in your mouth). 😆

Jingle: I know that face and that getup anywhere!

The next time I wore Majora’s Mask, I stood so that the camera could see my face as I spoke with Jingle. I just thought it would make a good screenshot.

Jingle: Oh, ho ho ho...hey.

I played for nearly an hour and a half in total, and I scored 15 furniture items from Jingle. I sold them for a total of 183,600 bells before wrapping up my game for the night.

I hope you all have a happy Toy Day and a Merry Christmas! 🎄 I’ll see you next time!
