Riding Off Into the Sunset

Tonight, Wendy told me she loves digging in the dirt. Not even for fossils or gyroids, but just for the fun of digging! She should work for Resetti.

Wendy: I mean, it is SO fun to just dig around in the dirt! I bet EVERYONE will be doing it soon! With it being Saturday night, I headed over to the Roost to catch a performance from K.K. I asked him to play a random song and he played a sad tune for me: K.K. Sonata.

K.K. All right, get ready to dig the riffs on this ditty: K.K. Sonata.I went from K.K. to Kiki. The black cat in town seems to be enjoying the lazy days of summer.

Kiki: Ahhh... You know, these lazy days are actually pretty fun.And when I went in to visit Elmer, I got a surprise. He’s packed up in boxes, ready to move out. 🙁

Elmer: Well, Mr. J, I guess the time has finally come.Even though he mentioned the possibility of leaving last Saturday, he hadn’t said anything about it since. So I thought maybe he had changed his mind but just hadn’t confirmed it; they do that sometimes. It really stinks to lose my favorite villager again. If anyone is going to stick around, it should be Elmer.

I wish Animal Crossing games let you lock in your favorite villager (or three) to keep them around. Because if they expect you to play for hours every day for the rest of your life just to keep your favorite animals in town, that’s not too cool. Especially since losing your favorites gives you even less motivation to keep playing at all. You don’t see Yoshi and Toad abandoning Mario if he doesn’t meet a certain quota of levels played per day. A game shouldn’t punish you for not playing constantly.

Kiki now becomes my new favorite in town, although I also like several other of my current villagers including Lily, Ribbot, and Octavian. I’ll see you all next time.

  1. Aw man i’m sorry elmer left without saying anything. i don’t like this feature where villagers leave randomly without warning. But i wish they would send you goodbye letters in ACNH like they used to.
