End of a Long Run

I was very disappointed, and downright sad, to discover that Static had his belongings packed up in boxes tonight. He’s moving out of Forest.

Static: Usually you're not super quick, and yet somehow you manage to pop up at a strange time like this.

Not only has Static been my favorite villager in town for years, but his exit comes five years (almost to the day) of his arrival. He moved in on May 20, 2015, and leaves on May 21, 2020.

It’s always sad when a favorite villager moves out unexpectedly. But when that villager has been in your town for that long, it stings even more. Maybe I just have a case of Static cling. I know I still have Static in my GameCube town, but that’s not helping much right now. 🙁

After saying goodbye, I went outside and tried to cheer myself up. I saw my two least favorite villagers, Kitty and Rasher, hanging out together. So I decided to pitfall them both.

Rasher, in a pitfall: Whaa!
Kitty, in a pitfall: Stop right there! Turn the other way! This is just TOO humiliating!

Punchy asked me to catch a tiger butterfly for him, but it was too late to find one (and I probably won’t be playing in the next day or two). So I told him I couldn’t help.

I went to the city and made a rare visit to the fortune teller, Katrina. I gave her 100 bells, and she bashed me over the head and gave me a vague fortune. “You must just remember that impressions of you are not affected by your own personal preferences.” I didn’t know what that meant.

Katrina: YEEEEEEEEEeeeeeee!

I returned to Forest, and…my day got worse. Kitty, of all people, was suddenly attracted to me! Yikes. Go away, Kitty!

Kitty: I can't stand downwind, because your scent makes me feel...wowie-wow!

After that, I just gathered some fruit to sell, earning about 60,000 bells. I found a lovely lamp in the recycle bin before ending my game for the night.

Good night, everyone! I hope you all have better luck with your favorite villagers than I did tonight!

  1. Curious- why didn’t you ask Static to say? If I’m not mistaken, you can ask villagers to stay when they’re already in boxes. Does that work differently in City Folk?

      1. Wait, so was that actually flirting? that existed? and why you hating on kitty? seems average

        1. Well it wasn’t as obvious as some other dialogue I’ve seen, but yeah. Kitty has overstayed her welcome, and I’ve been wanting her to leave for years.

  2. That’s heartbreaking to lose Static especially after he practically became a permanent resident…

    1. Yeah, it’s rare for a villager to last 5 years in City Folk. Not even Bob made it to five years. Maybe I should just be thankful that I had him as long as I did.

  3. That’s really sad… I’ve never really had anyone I loved move out and I always know they are there in pocket camp. I have static in my camp so he’s not too far away!

  4. I havent had city folk as long and 2 of my starting villagers have left but I wasnt sad. But if Sterling, Butch or Pierce leave, I will be as upset as when Cube left my city folk town.

  5. Although isnt it strange that within the spam of a few months, Jeff lost his 2 longest villagers in his both of his city folk towns. Bob in Mushroom and Static in forest. Maybe the colour purple hates him?

  6. It was funny when you said,” I was feeling sad, but when I went outside, I saw Kitty and Rasher. I pitfalled them both. Static is one of my favorite villagers in animal crossing too, so I get why it’s disappointing. It’s a good thing that in new horizons, the villagers always have to ask you before they move out. Some day your Kitty and Rasher will move out and you will get someone new and better

  7. I feel you there… I recently returned to my childhood City Folk file only to find that Pate, my best friend in that game was moving out… She had to have been in that town for nearly a decade and she left. Maybe this is what I get for leaving my CF town for so long haha.

  8. I can’t imagine how I would feel if my favourite in town suddenly moved out ( coincidentally my favourite is Rasher because he is a big sweetie)
    I feel bad for you

  9. Awww, I’m sorry to hear about Static. Something similar happened to me with Amelia. I got the game Christmas of 2008, and she was one of the first villagers I met. Unfortunately, she moved away a couple years ago. Though I like her replacement (Tiffany), I still kinda miss Amelia.

  10. I’ve had Lily, and Freckles, Lily moved days ago, Freckles moved today this morning. I don’t feel sad for Freckles, because I have two users, in same attic, 1st’s name is Hiroshi, 2nd’ Mura, they are two gay men married with eachother, Hiroshi – Uke, Mura – Seme (I made them). I liked Freckles for thinking this one villager was a boy… I was wrong… Now I’m here, smiling a lot because she FELL IN LOVE WITH MURA!!!!! Hiroshi was angry, so was I… now we’re here happy for her moving away! Plus, my peach tree grew up to full state today!!! I’m happier for this detail more!

  11. Oh nooo I’m so sorry that happened, Static is one of my favorites too and I know how it feels to lose a fave 🙁 I lost O’Hare in New Leaf, my all time favorite villager because i stopped playing that game for a while and I don’t want to even go on it anymore because it doesnt feel like my town without him. It’s sad man

  12. I hope you’ll get either Pippy, Iggly, Pudge, or Sandy to move in your town that’ll be good to see my favorites in your Village. *͡°͜ʖ͡– ͡°͜ʖ͡– P. S. Give me your opinion of these villagers to be nice.
