Easy Come, Easy Go

Last night, Gabi told me she wanted a photo of herself with a nature theme. So she asked me to catch a peacock for her!

Gabi: You know? Something with a big bug! Can you imagine me in a photo with a peacock?

But it’s not Festivale, so I couldn’t track down Pavé! 😉 But of course, she meant a peacock butterfly. However, those aren’t out at night, so she was out of luck.

When I went into Goldie’s house, I was very sad to see her all packed up and ready to move out. 🙁

Goldie: The boxes probably gave it away, but...I've decided to move, honeybun.

When she returned to Forest in May, it was the nicest surprise to see that she was back in my life. But I guess it was too good to be true, or at least, too good to last. I’ll miss her. Again.

The Bug-Off was held today, but I played too late to participate. Nat informed me that Poncho was the winner, with a 65-point miyama stag.

Nat: The 65-point miyama stag caught by Poncho from right here in Forest.

When I walked up the ramp onto the cliff behind my house, I saw Poncho, Tom, and Gabi all hanging out there. I don’t know, it just seemed odd. It almost looked like Poncho was thinking about jumping off the cliff. 😛

Gabi, Tom, and Poncho hanging out on the cliff above my house.

Antonio told me he challenged Roscoe to see who could stay awake longer. But after 96 hours, Antonio fell asleep and lost the challenge.

Antonio: I fought it for 96 hours... But, honk! I couldn't handle it.
His catchphrase made this dialogue so much better. I don’t even know why. 😛

Queenie told me that she likes to get massages on Saturdays. This time, she was using essences of ice cream and…fried ice cream. 😛

Queenie: This week, my massage will use the essences of ice cream and fried ice cream!

And as of tonight, my savings account balance reached 57.5 million bells…so I’ve already met my summer goal! But with almost two weeks remaining in August, I’m sure I’ll still do some more bug hunts before the season ends. 🙂

Scraggly Old Carpet

Yesterday, Roscoe sent me a letter (and a modern desk) to thank me for the medicine I gave him last week.

Saharah was in town, looking for old carpets. So I started asking around. To my surprise, three villagers had some carpet to give me! Thanks to Poncho, Tom, and Antonio!

Antonio: Oh, dude! That's right! Saharah is in town today! This scraggly, faded old carpet is all yours!
For a second, I thought he was talking about Saharah! 😛

I took the three old carpets back to Saharah, and she gave me a tropical floor. I did not need that one.

Saharah: Here...a tropical floor. Very exotic... Treasure it. It is a very rare thing.

I did some bug hunting, and Poncho bought a dynastid beetle off me for 2,110 bells. That’s almost double the normal price.

Poncho: I got a dynastid beetle! WOOOOO! YEAH! Here's your 2,110 bells!

I seemed to be having amazing luck though; perhaps the best luck I’ve had all year so far. I kept seeing rare bugs very frequently, and I ended up making 255k on the night.

Tonight, I played again, and Roscoe asked me to deliver a gift to Antonio. It was a No. 1 shirt, and Antonio was confused by it.

Antonio: This is a No. 1 shirt, right? Uhh, what's this supposed to mean?
Maybe he thinks you’re #1?

Roscoe rewarded me with a kitschy tile for making the delivery.

Poor Goldie locked herself out of her house tonight. 🙁 I normally ignore these requests, but not when it’s Goldie! I went fishing, and it just took me a couple minutes to find her key.

I caught a key! ...Whose key is this?

I took it back to Goldie, and she gave me a kitchen wall. She was then able to get back in her doghouse. 🙂

Goldie: Oh...! Awesome! Yes, this is my key, honeybun!

I didn’t do as much bug-catching tonight, but I did manage to make over 40,000 bells anyway.

Catfish Gets Around

Yesterday, Tom reacted quite strongly to my racing helmet. He even seemed scared for some reason?

Tom: Sweet monkey of mercy! You scared the daylights out of me! What is that on your head, me-YOWZA?!

He asked if I was going to a costume party. I’m guessing this dialogue was written with Halloween costumes in mind, but it doesn’t make a whole lot of sense to be terrified of a race car driver, especially one that’s not currently driving a car. 😆 Any time I see Tom, I should sneak up behind him and say “Vroom!” real loud. 😉

After I caught a catfish, Poncho pinged me. He wanted it really bad, and he offered me 813 bells for it…so I sold it to him. But ten minutes later, I gave him a fossil he asked for…and he rewarded me with the same catfish! I guess he got tired of it pretty quickly! 😆

I thought that was the end of the catfish story, until Tom also wanted it! Fortunately, his offer was better than Poncho’s: He gave me 1,231 bells for it.

Tom: Let's see here... How does 1,231 bells sound to you, me-YOWZA?
And he never gave it back to me.

Today, Tom Nook was selling some elemental items: Fire, water, and earth. Of course it would’ve looked better if the sprinkler was turned on. 😛

The selection in Nook's shop: a campfire, a sprinkler, and a plant in a pot of dirt.

K.K. Slider was in town tonight, and he performed K.K. Aria for me. It’s a sad song, but it’s pretty good.

K.K.: All right, get ready to dig the riffs on this ditty: K.K. Aria.

Roscoe was sick with a cold, so I bought some medicine. But he was reluctant to take it!

Roscoe: You think you can boss me into taking that medicine?
You can lead a horse to medicine, but you can’t make him drink.

He did end up taking the medicine, though; he was just being stubborn about it.

I did some more bug hunting, and I also caught two blue marlins tonight. I made about 110k tonight, to go along with 60k I made last night. My account balance has now topped 57 million bells, so I’m already over 75% to my summer goal despite there being almost 4 weeks remaining.

Your current balance is 57,080,000 bells.

See you next time!
