New Year’s Shirt 2022

Today is the first day of 2022, and I received a bunch of New Year’s greetings from my villagers in the mail. That included one from my 2nd favorite villager, Lucky.

To Jeff, Happy New Year! My resolution is to be even better friends with you this year! -Your buddy, Lucky

Tortimer was standing outside of town hall, talking about starting out the new year like putting on a new pair of socks.

Tortimer: Ah, a new year! Fresh like a new pair of socks!

He gave me the New Year’s shirt for 2022. It has a tiger on it, because 2022 is the year of the tiger in the Chinese zodiac. Here’s a look at the front and back:

The front and back of the New Year's shirt for 2022 in Animal Crossing: City Folk.

This is the 2nd tiger shirt in the cycle (the first tiger was 2010). But the 2010 shirt was white, and this one is gray. So even if you only looked at the fronts of the shirts, you could still tell the 2010 and 2022 shirts apart.

Big Top was going through the list of Chinese zodiac animals, trying to remember what year it is. 😛

Big Top: Rat, ox, tiger, rabbit, horse, snake, sheep, monkey... Um... What year is it again?

Pretty much all of my villagers were talking about the start of the new year. Tom couldn’t believe how fast last year passed by.

Tom: Oh, heys, li'l guy! Can you believe it's already 2022? Man, last year flew by, me-YOWZA!

Even though he was seemingly in a great mood, that changed right after I took this screenshot. He started to remember that he didn’t get much accomplished last year. It’s okay, Tom, you did all that you were programmed to do. 😛

I found a new house in a spot that rarely seems occupied: It’s just north of the windmill, and just a bit south of my house and Goldie’s house. Inside, I found a depressed looking bear cub named Pudge.

Pudge: I was worried that no one had noticed me moving here!

He lived in my Wild World town in 2016, and in my GameCube town in 2018. But he didn’t stick around long either time, so he’s not very fresh in my memory.

Behind Nook ‘n’ Go, I listened in on a conversation between Maelle and Queenie. It’s the one where they call each other bland. I’ve seen it multiple times before, so I didn’t snap a picture of the dialogue…but I did catch the surprised look on Queenie’s face as she stood back on her heels. 😂

Queenie, surprised: ...

And in the city, I ran into my old friend Static.

Static: I think I'll visit Katrina myself. If nothing else, it'll give me something to talk about at the cafe.

Even though he’s long gone from my ACCF town, I currently have him in New Horizons and in my GameCube town as well.

Happy New Year, everyone! I hope you all have a great, successful, safe, and healthy 2022! 🙂

Jingle Burglar?

I received Simon’s goodbye letter in the mail tonight. So long, monkey. 🐵

To Jeff, Today's the day I leave Forest. I hope there's someone as fun as you in my new town. Take care! -Simon

It’s Christmas Eve, and Big Top told me that the way to Santa’s heart is through his belly. He suggested that I should leave Santa some apple strudel if I want to get a lot of presents. 😛

Big Top: Between you and me, the way to that chubby dude's heart is through his overstuffed belly.

Christmas Eve is the night that Jingle comes to town, also known as Toy Day in later games. I found Jingle the black-nosed reindeer hanging out by a pond.

Jingle: Happy holidays! I'm Jingle, the black-nosed reindeer!

Each time we find him, we can get a special gift (a piece of Jingle furniture). But only if we disguise ourselves as a different person each time, by wearing a different hat (or a pattern as a hat). One interesting element of this event compared to other games is that since Jingle is delivering presents to villagers, we may find him inside the houses of villagers that aren’t home!

Jingle: Oh, ho ho ho...hey.
Wait, you are delivering presents, not stealing them…right? He is acting a little shady here…

In fact, this is the only night of the year that we can enter any villager’s house, whether they’re home or not.

About 15 minutes in my session, the event ended at the stroke of midnight. I had obtained four pieces of Jingle furniture by that point, and I was able to sell it all for a total of 48,960 bells. Not bad! If you have the time (and a few spare hats), this event is a really good way to make some bells!

Tom Nook: Ah, for all of that, I'll give you 48,960 bells!

Happy holidays, everyone! 🎄

Simon Says Goodbye

I found Forest’s resident monkey, Simon, all packed up and ready to move out of town tonight. Even though I’m not a big fan of monkey villagers not named Champ, Simon has grown on me a bit. I’m certainly not devastated that he’s leaving or anything, but I do wish it was someone else.

Simon: Well, you probably already know, but I'm leaving this town, woof woof.

Some of my villagers are looking forward to Toy Day (Christmas Eve). Curt is already wondering what gifts he’ll receive this year. None from me. 😛

Curt: I sure love the feeling of goodwill this time of year. I wonder what gifts I'm getting, fuzzball...

At the Roost, K.K. Slider performed K.K. Western for me.

K.K. All right, get ready to dig the riffs on this ditty: K.K. Western.

Big Top was walking around with his watering can, talking about flowers. He said he loves roses, tulips, and…cosmoses?

Big Top: Roses, tulips, and cosmoses! I love 'em all!

I always thought the plural of cosmos was also cosmos. But apparently, either way is correct. I still think “cosmoses” looks funny written out like that, though. 😛

Tom locked himself out of his house, and I wasn’t originally going to help him out. But I saw a small fish in the river, so I gave it a try…bingo! I wouldn’t mind these favors if I always found the key on my first try like this. 😂

I caught a key! ...Whose key is this?
Pay no attention to my minefield of pitfall seeds. 😛

When I took it over to Tom, he rewarded me with a rhythmoid.

See you all next time!
