Don’t Hog Them

I received Clyde’s goodbye letter in the mail today. So Forest is back to being a one-horse town…and I’m okay with that. (It is however, a two-monkey town…which is not ideal.)

Dear Jeff, Today's the day I leave Forest. I hope there's someone as fun as you in my new town. Take care! -Clyde

Nat was in town for the Bug-Off, which I did not participate in. But he informed me that Big Top was today’s winner! Congrats, big guy! He caught a 68-point banded dragonfly! Impressive!

I went over to the Roost to catch the Saturday night show, and K.K. Slider performed K.K. Condor for me. It’s the o-o-o-o-o song, if you know what I mean. 😛

K.K.: All right, get ready to dig the riffs on this ditty: K.K. Condor.

Curly was talking about friends, and he was saying that he needs to hang out with some new people. So he told me to invite my friends over, and not to hog them all to myself. 🐷

Curly: Don't hog them to yourself! Come on! Hook me up, giddyup!
How many friends could a friend-hog hog, if a friend-hog could hog friends?

After making my rounds, I got my net out and started hunting for bugs. I was having really good luck with giant beetles (I think I caught six of them tonight), but the other rare bugs were few and far between. In my ~75-minute session tonight (not all of which was spent bug-hunting, of course), I made about 180,000 bells.

I haven’t been bug-hunting much in the past few weeks, so I’ve fallen off my bell-earning pace from July. With just two weeks to go in August, I may have to go bug-hunting a few nights a week to meet my goal.

I recently posted my latest City Folk Moments video on Youtube, so I hope you’ll check it out.

Before ending my game for the night, I found a glow clock in the recycle bin at town hall. See you all next time!

Not Monkey’s Business

Nana was depressed today, because she was sick with a cold. When I told her I had some medicine for her, she got excited for a moment.

Nana: For real?!

Unfortunately, the news of me having the medicine seemed to help her more than the medicine itself. So she immediately returned to her gloomy demeanor. 😛

When I stopped in to visit Clyde, I saw that he was all packed up and ready to move out of town. This was expected, of course, after what he told me last week.

Clyde: Well, li'l guy, I guess the time has finally come.
Time to clip-clawp out of town.

Good luck wherever you end up, horsey. And hey, at least you didn’t get Pitfall Pandemonium‘d this time in Forest. 😆

Monty seems to be sticking his monkey nose into other people’s business: He told me that River needs to hurry up and pay off her home mortgage, because she’s not getting any younger. Wow. 😆

Monty: That girl needs to hurry up and pay her loan off! Be sure you tell her the same next time you see her!
Say that to her face. I dare you.

I played a little too late at night to catch K.K. Slider’s concert. Oops.

Booker: Oh... But I think that by this time, he's probably done performing...

And because it was so late, I also didn’t have a lot of time to go bug hunting and fishing. But I did do a little bit, and I earned about 75k for the night. But that doesn’t include my catches after the shop closed, so I’ll have some more to sell next time.

One other note: I shot down a balloon present, and it contained a koopa shell. Does that mean it was a Koopa Paratroopa inside the box before I hit it with my slingshot?

Flea Market, New Monkey

On Sunday, I started up the game to get some footage for a video I was working on. In particular, I needed footage of the flea market, my natural paths (under my green brick tiles, which I removed in some areas), and red turnips. I quickly spotted Joan, so I bought a red turnip seed for 1,000 bells. I then buried it, watered it, and later dug it up.

Look at that! I dug up a red turnip!

Because I dug it up on the same day, it only sold for 2 bells. 😆 You’re supposed to water it every day, and then sell it after a week for the full 16,000 bells.

As for the flea market, I bought an orange chair from Clyde (566 bells), a red tie-dye from Midge (164 bells), and a mochi pestle from Ruby (552 bells). I was just being a good neighbor. 😛

Ruby: I scratch your back, you scratch mine! ...But not too hard, li'l ears.

I also went home so that a villager could buy from me. Antonio showed up, and you can see what he bought in my video at the end of this entry.

I played again today, and Nana wanted me to catch her a giant snakehead! Those things are so rare, I knew I’d never find it in time. So I had to decline her request. Sorry, Nana.

Nana: Mint and I decided that it would be a good idea for me to have a pet giant snakehead!

When I ran into Clyde, he told me that he’s been thinking of moving out of town. He’s only lived here about six weeks! But still, I didn’t stop him from moving. He’s not leaving immediately, but probably by next week.

Clyde: Y'know, li'l guy, I've been thinking of moving out of Forest.

I was a bit confused when I went into a house in the northeast part of town. Monty was there, and he said it was nice to meet me. For one thing, he was already unpacked!

Monty: Call me Monty! I just rolled into town and decided to stay, at least for a while.

So that means he must’ve moved in on Sunday, and I didn’t notice his house. I do already have three other villagers in that little neighborhood, so it is easy to overlook somebody (especially when I didn’t even know he was there).

But also, Monty is another returning villager. He lived in Forest from 2019-2020; I didn’t care for him then, and I doubt I’ll care for him now. 😆

I found Mint enjoying some coffee at the Roost. She was commenting on his shelves full of gyroids.

Mint: Hmm. Ever notice that Brewster likes to decorate his shelves with gyroids?

In the city, Maple was enjoying the hustle and bustle of the city. Phineas was also there, as were Egbert, Bella, Elvis, and Pecan. (Phineas gave me an indigo balloon.)

Maple: This is the best time of day to be in the city. Lots of hustle, lots of bustle, honey.

By the way, my bank account balance just topped 63 million bells. So I’m well on my way to meeting my summer goal, needing just about a million bells during August. I should have no trouble doing that, even though I didn’t do any bug hunting today.

A quick note about items: I found a garbage can in a balloon present on Sunday, and I found a stove in the recycle bin today.

As for the video I mentioned earlier, it’s a look at co-exclusive features in the Animal Crossing series. As you might expect, City Folk has a lot of features in common with Wild World, that don’t appear in the other games. But you might not realize it also has a lot in common with New Leaf too! Check it out and see for yourself!
