First Ramp, Coelacanth

It was raining in town today, for perhaps the first time (if I’m not mistaken).

Keaton told me he heard about Project K, and he wanted to help out. It just wasn’t quite what he was thinking.

Keaton: I was hoping you might be producing a low budget, yet artistically groundbreaking feature film...
How about Beetlejuice? I’ll need to craft some out of some beetles.

Still, he gave me a menu chalkboard to help out.

My first ramp was complete, so I attended the completion ceremony. Yay!

I took advantage of the rain by looking for a coelacanth, and it didn’t take me long to find one! Yes!

Blast from the past! (Jeff catches his first coelacanth.)

Agent S taught me a new reaction, curiosity. It’s the question mark (“?”), and it’s a very useful one to have. It’s an easy way to say “what the heck are you doing?” 😛 I added it to my reaction wheel by replacing the “encouraging” reaction.

I learned the curiosity reaction! Huh? What's that? I need to know!

In Shari’s house, I enjoyed watching the droplets of water roll down the windows. But I also took a close-up picture of Shari’s cork board.

Saharah was in town, and I bought a “ruins wall” from her for 3,000 bells.

When I ran into Louie later tonight, he had a thought bubble over his head. He was thinking about moving out of town! He’s the first villager to bring that up, but I told him to stick around.

Louie: Hey, Jeff. Perfect timing. I've been thinking about moving out.

Isabelle told me Forest is still a two-star island, and this time, she mentioned that I could use more flowers. So I bought a few flower seeds at Nook’s Cranny and planted them near my sumo ring. It wasn’t enough to make a difference, but it’s a start. I guess I should be buying and planting flowers every day.

After I planted those flowers, Louie had another thought bubble over his head! I was wondering if he wanted to move out again. 😂 But he just wanted a new catchphrase; I told him to say “oh, banana!” 🍌

I did some more fishing, hoping to catch another coelacanth. I never did find another one, but I did catch another oarfish and a bunch of red snappers.

Just as a reminder, I will be having Friday Night Forest this week. It will be at 10 p.m. Eastern time (7 p.m. Pacific) and anyone already on my roster is welcome.

Here is my latest video, showing highlights from Days 12 and 13.

See you next time!

Bunny Day

The Happy Home Academy sent me two letters today, one with a punching bag to commemorate my new room, and the other with a bronze HHA plaque for topping 20,000 points. Agent S also sent me an exercise bike for my new room. I wasn’t planning on making my new addition an exercise room, but it’s already looking that way. 💪

Unfortunately, I can’t even sit on the bike, let alone ride it. 🙁

Today is Bunny Day (Easter Sunday), so Zipper T. Bunny was standing at the event plaza. 🐰

Zipper: Boingity boing! Hey there, skipper! It's me...Zipper!

Zipper gave me a bunny day arch recipe. The arch is really cool, and it’s easily my favorite item of the Bunny Day items. I made one and returned to Zipper. He told me I had now crafted every piece of the Bunny Day recipes except for one. One that looks like him. Yikes.

He saved the worst for last.

The only problem (well, aside from the prospect of seeing Zipper’s freaky face on a wobbling toy) is that I didn’t have enough water eggs. I had plenty of everything else though. (I had at least 25 of every other kind, but only one water egg). So I had to go fishing for more…or is that egging for more? 🥚

Once I had enough, I crafted the toy and returned to Zipper. My reward was yet another recipe. This one was for a Bunny Day wand. The wand requires the wobbling Zipper toy and three star fragments. I only had two star fragments in storage, so I was unable to make the wand today.

Zipper also had something else for me. After giving him one egg of each type, he gave me a Bunny Day basket. He also had a trading service available, where I could trade three of one type of egg for one egg that I needed. For example, I could trade three sky eggs for one water egg.

By the way, all of the outdoor villagers were wearing Bunny Day eggshell outfits. Some of them, including Tia, looked really cute this way.

Tia: I felt like wearing something special for Bunny Day. I hope everyone likes it, teacup!

But Marcel didn’t fare as well. The egg shell made him look like a dunce. 😛

Rizzo spent the day indoors reading. He looks even weirder with glasses on. 😛

I put in a springy ride-on (toy), but unfortunately I can’t even sit on it. I was very disappointed by that. I’m hoping at least villagers can ride it? That would make for some very cute pictures. 🙂

At town hall, Tom Nook informed me that he can now customize my house. I could change my roof color or my mailbox, but I didn’t want to change anything right now.

With no further use of my eggs required, I started crafting some things. I made five arches, which I placed leading a path to my sumo ring. I’m sure I won’t keep it like this forever, but I like it for now. Maybe I could replace it with some other type of arches in the future.

Five Bunny Day arches in my town.

After that, I started crafting like crazy just to use up my remaining eggs. When I sold everything (except for the five arches and the toy I’m keeping for the wand), I racked up a total of about 120,000 bells. That’s actually less than I was hoping for, considering how much work and annoyance these eggs have been over the past 12 days. I can always sell the arches at some point in the future too, and they’re the most valuable of all.

I’m glad it’s all over now, and I now have about 15 free spaces in my inventory. Whew.

My last task of the day was to commission a natural ramp, between Midge’s house and Marcel’s house. It will be my first ramp when it opens up tomorrow.

I hope you all had a good Bunny Day and a Happy Easter! I’ll see you next time! 🙂

Spring Fishing Tourney

I was surprised to find some pink roses in my flower garden today, among my red roses. I didn’t even need a white rose to breed them with! This is apparently my first homemade hybrid in the game so far.

When I went to pick it up and move it though, I just picked off the petals. I’m still not used to the way flowers work in this game yet. 😛

Flick sent me my man-faced stink bug model in the mail. When I set it down, I immediately wondered why I thought this would be a good idea.

Man-face

At Nook’s Cranny, I bought a Mrs. Flamingo and put it on the beach.

The main event of the day was the spring fishing tournament! Many of my villagers were fishing by the river, all wearing hats!

Tia, Marcel, and Midge fish in the river while wearing hats.

C.J. is the host of the tournament, and the rules are simple (and quite different from previous games). You just have to catch as many fish as you can in three minutes. The fish you catch will automatically be placed in a cooler, so you don’t have to worry about pocket space. That’s a nice addition!

C.J.: Anywave, I'm anchroin' the premiere event of the spring seasports season, the Fishing Tourney.

My first attempt did not go very well. My first two catches were eggs. Then I missed one fish, caught a squid, and caught another squid…seconds after the timer expired. So my score was only 1. That was pathetic. 😂

The good news is that you can sell your cooler fish to C.J. easily, and he pays more than the Nooklings. After your first attempt at the tourney, C.J. charges 500 bells for subsequent attempts, but it’s worth it. I gave it another go, and it went better this time: I caught five fish and scored 7 points (he gives bonus points based on how many fish you catch).

C.J. told me that if I accumulate at least 10 points, I can get some fish swag. So I decided to give it one last try. This time, I caught six fish and scored 8 points. That brought my grand total to 16 points, earning me a prize: a fish-drying rack.

C.J.: THERE'S a keeper! Your very own fish-drying rack. Nyuk nyuk!
I’ll be sure to use this when… well, never.

The fishing tournament lasts until 6 p.m., but there is no winners’ ceremony like there is in New Leaf. C.J. just told me the next fishing tourney will be held in July.

At Able Sisters, I bought an orange printed-sleeve sweater. I then went outside and watched Rizzo walk into a pitfall. 😉

I planted some trees, sold some fish and bugs, and grinded out some Nook Miles. When I returned home, I found Tia standing in my garden! She watered some of my roses, which was nice. I was just surprised to find her there! I hope she can figure out how to get out! 😛

Before wrapping up my game for the night, I paid off my house debt. So my house should be expanded by tomorrow!

But more importantly, tomorrow is Bunny Day (Easter)! Zipper T. Bunny will be back in town to turn us all into zombies. Regardless of what he has in store for us, I’ll just be glad to get rid of these eggs (one way or another). See you then!
