Today is Keaton’s birthday, so I headed up to Eagle Mountain to attend his birthday party. Tia was also there to help him celebrate. I gave him a retro fan that I bought at Nook’s Cranny, and I think it blew him away.
Back outside, I saw a large dragonfly and I chased it around. Once I got to the beach, I caught it! It was my first banded dragonfly!
Crazy Jolly Redd’s ship was in town, and I bought a perfect painting from him. I also bought a beach ball for my beach.
I was standing near that beach ball when I caught my first whale shark. The arrival of June has brought shark season to New Horizons! Yay!
The funny thing is that I didn’t even know that was a shark before I caught it. The shark fins in this game aren’t as obvious as they were in earlier games…especially if fishing to the south (the fin gets lost in their shadow). This is what my whale shark shadow looked like:
If you’re fishing on the east or west coasts, they’re easier to spot. Although, the new suckerfish also has a fin…so it doesn’t always guarantee a shark.
Rizzo the rat was eating ice cream on the beach, and he complained about me banging my shovel on the rocks yesterday! How rude!
Just for that, I planted a pitfall for him. But to my surprise, he stayed there for a while. Apple even joined him, and she also whipped out an ice cream bar. After about four and a half minutes, Rizzo finally got up and pitfall’d himself. 😛
June is also wedding season, and Harvey has a special event on his island, Photopia. Reese and Cyrus can be found there, and they want to re-create photos of their wedding day.
Cyrus made several wedding-themed items, and we can use them (along with anything else in our catalog) to decorate the room. I just used the items he supplied, and then took the picture.
As a reward for helping them out, Reese gave me a wedding bench and some heart crystals. The heart crystals are basically currency that you can use to buy Cyrus’ other wedding items.
Reese asked me to help out again tomorrow. It seems like you can keep helping them each day in June to earn more heart crystals. I’ll probably keep coming back until I’m able to buy all of the items for my catalog.
It was a pretty busy day in New Horizons for me. In total, I had six new catches for the museum: a banded dragonfly, dorado, drone beetle, firefly, suckerfish, and the whale shark. Good luck with your shark and beetle hunting, everyone! See you next time. 🙂
one time I got five sharks in a row!
The summer months will always be my favorite for the sake of catching the rarer fish. Funny thing is that I crafted a ton of fish bait to start using yesterday, but I managed to catch 13 out of the 14 new fish without any bait.
I went fishing and bug catching yesterday and I’m only missing a few June fish. Also I worked for about 2 hours straight on updating my town so now it doesn’t look like a hot mess. Have a good day!
I have Keaton in New Leaf and it was his birthday there as well yesterday, I bought him a jar of pickles as a present and he was far from impressed!
Haha, a jar of pickles. That’s funny. I should try that on someone I don’t like very much. 😛
Whats your current City Folk town tune. I want to try and use it.
It’s the Final Fantasy VII airship theme. You can see the notes here.
My friends and I knew how many goodies June has been holding and basically since launch we’ve been waiting for June. We were all on a big group call at midnight and we kept fishing and bug catching till about 2 sharing the new catches we got. Combine that with the normal playtime today and I’m only missing 3 fish (I think) and no bugs. Probably should’ve spaced it out more but oh well, we had an amazing time. So much hype hearing us all shout out SHARK for the first time. And to top of this June 1st sundae, my friend had been holding Boots, my favorite villager, for a while and he’s finally moving out tomorrow! I usually don’t time travel but I’m making an exception in this case to get my #1 dreamie.
June just has so much to offer, probably because it’s the start of Summer, I just hope I can manage to get all the sharks, I’m pretty horrid with the timing on reeling them in.
Wow, congrats! Sounds like you had a great time! I always enjoy shark and bug hunting in summer, though many of the beetles don’t show up until July (at least in earlier games, and I imagine NH is the same). But it should be a fun summer in New Horizons! 🙂
