Yesterday, Midge informed me that she bought an extra gas range. I was fully prepared to buy it off her, but it wasn’t bells that she wanted. She wanted my whale shark! I begrudgingly agreed to the trade in the hopes that this will help me earn her photo. π
The empty house plot on Apple Lane had a “Sold!” sign on it. Tybalt the tiger is moving in. I’m pretty neutral about Tybalt; I haven’t seen much of him before.
Wisp was in town, so I gathered his spirits for him. In return, he gave me a groovy wall.
Today, Rizzo sent me a shirt in the mail. He told me to try it on and see what I thought. So I did…it was a holiday sweater! He really sent me a holiday sweater in July, when it’s not the holiday season, and it’s the middle of summer!
Gulliver was in town (regular Gulliver, not pirate Gullivarrr), and I collected his five communicator pieces for him. He’ll be sending me a gift in the mail tomorrow. I also earned 500 Nook Miles because that was the 10th time I’ve helped out Gulliver.
Nook’s Cranny had a popcorn machine for sale, and I bought it for my amusement park. I placed it next to the cotton candy machine.
At the plaza, I listened in on a conversation between Apple and Rizzo. Rizzo was getting annoyed because he didn’t understand Apple’s slang. π
While fishing at the pier, I caught my first blue marlin! That’s also how I lost my eye. .(
I then went to meet my new neighbor, Tybalt the tiger. He came from the town of Laverre: That’s where Ros lives.
I set up something different for Friday Night Forest: a treasure hunt. This is how it works: I hid a treasure somewhere in town–this time it was five gold nuggets. I set up patterns on the ground in various spots in town. Each one tells people where to go for the next clue. For example, one clue tells visitors to go to the end of my pier. There, you’ll see a message that says to go to my back room.
Oh, one more thing. In true jvgsjeff fashion, I buried pitfall seeds around town. So being the front-runner in the race to each clue wasn’t always an advantage, if you happen to fall into the pitfall first. π
At 10:00, I opened my gate for Friday Night Forest. Timo, Ros, Alex (from Pawnee), and Logan came over. I explained the treasure hunt and then I told them the first clue was on the frog race course. As they ran west, I headed east. I knew the next clue would send them to the pier, so I set up a camera near my pitfalls. Alex was first, and he passed right by the pitfalls. Logan wasn’t as lucky.
After Alex read the clue and headed for my house, I went to the next location, the campground. I again placed a camera to see the action when someone showed up, and I moved out of sight so I’d have time to reach the next spot ahead of the leader. This time, Alex fell into a pitfall and Timo and Ros caught up with him.
I scampered to the next location, getting there just barely ahead of Alex (who had retaken the lead). He fell into another pitfall, but he saw the final clue. He knew to go behind the lighthouse!
Since this was the final leg of the race, I was able to follow him to the lighthouse to witness him claiming his prize. Congrats, Alex! I plan on posting a video of this on Sunday, but I’m not sure if it’ll be part of Wi-Fi Moments 8 or a separate video of its own. But this was fun, and I’m sure I’ll do something similar again in the future. π
Ros shared some gifts for all of us: cherry hats! Thanks Ros!
After Alex disconnected and returned (which he blamed on his cat), we ran two frog races. Logan won both times! Congrats, Logan and Logan! π
After roasting some frogs and posing for frog photos by the waterfall, we went to welcome Tybalt to town. As we did that, Ryan and Valentine came over. But Alex disconnected and then returned. π And then Maria joined in too, so we had a full house.
Ros made enough cherry hats for everyone, which was really nice of her! We went swimming and diving, as a gang of cherry…zombies? Alex again disconnected and returned, and then Ros left about 11:30.
We went fishing in the pond and at the waterfall, stopped at Rainbow Road, and visited with Tia. While we were there, I noticed that Tia had an outfit in her refrigerator! That seems like a funny place to put clothes. π But actually, I didn’t even realize that you could see what villagers had in their storage like this!
I went outside and pitfall’d Alex. Shortly before midnight, Valentine and Logan left. I kept the gate open until almost 1 a.m. though. But since this blog entry is getting long (and it’s very late as I’m writing this), I’m going to try to sum up the final hour in one quick paragraph. π
Alex laggingly pushed me through the entire amusement park, we visited Agent S and trapped Maria in a chair, we tried pitfall-less sumo with Apple, we jumped on pillars, Timo drowned in the ocean, Ryan and Timo stole my life savings (200 bells from trees), we chased down the thieves, and Alex posted this monstrosity to my bulletin board.
On that nightmarish note, I’m off to bed. π I’ll be back with another entry on Saturday, and a video on Sunday. In the meantime, check out my recent video where I rank my favorite villagers by species if you haven’t seen it already.
See you next time! And Never Stop Crossing!
Youβre turning into a Tiger King!
I had a ton of fun last night, the scavanger hunt was a good idea.
P.S: I’ll keep my router out of my cat’s reach π
Thanks, and I’m glad you had fun! Haha, good luck with the cat! π±
I know you probably get asked this a lot but how far in the future will you let more people friend you on switch?
I don’t know… but if I start having trouble getting people to show up for Friday Night Forest, that’s probably when I’ll start adding new people…at least people who play at night like I do.
Tybalt was in my campsite the other day. I contemplated taking but I couldnβt win the game so I chose not to take him. Hope you grow to love him! Have a good day
Yeah, I wouldn’t have taken him from the campsite either. But I think he’s growing on me anyway. π Thanks, have a good day too!
Iβm looking forward to the treasure hunt video, that sounds fun!
I also got the holiday sweater from one of my villagers yesterday – I wonder if that was a game-wise gift that all players got?
Thanks for continuing to post your town updates!
Thanks, and I’m glad you enjoy the updates! π
Tybalt looks so cute! I love him already!
Seems like you had a fun night. The treasure hunt was a great idea and I can’t wait to watch the video that features it! I’m glad everyone had fun in this FNF!
Yeah, I’m already starting to like him. π
Yes it was fun. Thank you!
That actually was the most fun I’ve ever had in a Friday Night Forest so far (Although I think I kinda lost it). Regardless thanks for hosting Jeff and I really enjoyed the treasure hunt!
You lost control…of your bladder. π I had to wash that wet suit 18 times! π Glad you had a good time though!
Oh cool, tybolt! I like him and Leonardo because they look like cheetahs. I wish cheetah was a species of animal by itself, like how cows and bulls are separated. It’s odd that you got mock even thought you need sisterly and snooty. Kind of here when I saw savvanah(passed regretπ) who is normal. And I got Whitney. So maybe a update changed how random islanders work.
Wow, sounds like you had a great day. Really looking forward to that treasure hunt video, sounds like something really fun. Also, knowing you I’d be scared of running carelessly around Forest, and it seems you set up quite a minefield for the night.
I’m not a fan of tigers really, but this guy looks like Rolf’s younger, yellow brother. He kinda reminds me of Tony the Tiger. I can’t say I’m much of a fan of jocks, and in my experience they can be pretty rude (as far as rudeness goes in latest games) in New Horizons at the beginning, which is funny because I don’t recall my starter jock ever treating me like that. Hopefully you grow to like him.
Lastly, I was actually wondering the other night if you ever fish by the pier. Do you use fish bait for it? I’ve spent as much as 60 bait on one night and no luck. However, I’ve been lucky with mahi-mahis lately, they appeared to be ultra rare until the second player I share islands with donated the one they caught to the museum. Guess I’ll have to keep trying for that Marlin.
I think I’m already starting to like Tybalt.
If I’m walking by the pier, I’ll usually walk out to look for fish, but I don’t necessarily fish there more than any other spot on the ocean. And I rarely use bait. Good luck catching the marlin though!
