The July Bug-Off was held today, and that was the first thing I did (before even checking my mail). I participated in four rounds, and I scored 7 points, 9 points, 8 points, and then 11 points in my last round. So I actually did worse than I did last month. But my accumulated point total was up to 41, so I was due for a few prizes.
For ten points apiece, Flick gave me a ladybug umbrella, a toy cockroach, a termite mound, and a bug cage. The bug cage isn’t furniture, though; it actually functions like a backpack. The ladybug umbrella is pretty cool, and the termite mound is really tall. This could actually function as a natural-looking pillar in an obstacle course or something. I’m going to keep it in storage just in case I come up with a way to use it in the future.
I then checked my mail, which included my art from Jolly Redd. I took it to the museum, where Blathers informed me that the informative statue is a forgery. It still looks cool though, so I’m hanging onto it anyway.
Later tonight, Rizzo told me that he did pretty well in the Bug-Off. But how do I know if he’s telling the truth? Unlike New Leaf, there’s no ceremony for the winners…and in fact, there are no winners at all. It’s not really even a competition (not even a phony one). So I’ve just decided that Rizzo is lying. 😉
I went diving until I found myself a scallop. Pascal popped up and told me it’s not all about the bells. But this didn’t seem to be a deep discussion about money and life; he seemed to be talking about Animal Crossing: New Horizons specifically!
I posted a new video of game highlights and funny moments today. Here is New Horizons Moments #1:
See you all next time!
Maybe Keaton wanted you to have the camera so you could spy on Rizzo! 😛
I remember finding the informative statue at Redd’s ship. I looked it up to see if it was real, and the blue coloring gave it away as a fake. Still, I thought it would look cool in my character’s office, so I bought it anyway. 😆
Yeah, the fake informative statue does look cool. I kept it in my upstairs room for a while. 🙂
Hey Jeff I was wondering why Shari moved out when she was one of your starters?
She wanted to move out a couple weeks ago, and I decided to let her go. I’ll probably keep Louie (my other starter) indefinitely, but I didn’t feel the need to keep both of them forever.
Regarding a past post I find it hilarious that you need a real informative statue and you got a fake one and I wanted a fake informative statue ( the color is nice with the scenery I would put it in) but have the real one! 😂 Also I’m pretty bummed that the old Ceremony’s are gone as well as not knowing how villagers do. Have a good day!
Hey Jeff I’m curious do you plan on posting a New Horizons review soon? Personally I would wait at least a year for these kinds of games.
I will post a review eventually, but likely not until next year. I want to see what most (or all) of the seasonal events are like first.
I really miss the old bug-offs, they were much more fun imo.
That Pascal tip is probably for those people that charge others for the right to enter their island. It’s not about the bells, maaaaan…
It’s kind of sad that the bug off isn’t really a competition anymore. And yet the villagers take it seriously. VERY. Luckily for me Whitney glitched into the museum and judy just never spawned. Bangle was in her house with Shari, and everyone else was in the “competition” I wonder if the game has a set amount of villagers it can have active in the town at once.
