October Fishing Tourney

The October fishing tournament was held today. During my first run, I caught my first mitten crab. (Don’t worry, I remembered to take it out of the cooler and donate it to the museum.)

I caught a mitten crab! Gotta keep this up!

On my first five tourney attempts, I scored 7 points every time! Each time, it seemed like I messed up at least once…reeling in too early, or barely missing a fish at the buzzer, etc. So I was determined to get eight points, so I tried again. And this time, I did worse, only scoring 5 points!

After a little break, I decided to give it one final attempt. I had my best round of the day, scoring 9 points.

C.J.: SPLASH! That's 9 points!

I redeemed my points for some fishy rewards, and I got a fish lollipop wand, fresh cooler, fishing-rod stand, fish pochette, and a fish-print tee.

I had some new pumpkins today, so that allowed me to finish crafting the spooky arches I needed.

I continued my island’s transformation, renaming two more parts of town to give them Halloweeny names. Apple Lane is now Candy Apple Lane, and Eagle Mountain is now Evil Mountain.

I officially removed the frog race course today. The logs look a bit different without the water, don’t they?

I’ve started working on its replacement. It will be a Halloween themed race, but part of it will be a maze, and it’ll have some obstacle course elements as well.

However, it’s only going to be for four people at a time. I would need a much wider area to make it work with eight people, and I’m not willing to sacrifice half my town to do that. 😛 But it should be fun. 🙂

I posted a new video today, ranking the random visitors in New Horizons. Please give it a watch if you haven’t seen it yet. 🙂

Have a great day, and I’ll see you all next time!

Final Frog Race?

Yesterday, I updated my dream (address 6717-1633-3682), so it will now reflect the changes I’ve previously mentioned in the blog (up through the Wrinkly Kong pattern I mentioned Wednesday).

But of course, I’m still continuing to make changes as I prepare for Halloween…so this won’t be my final Halloween update.

Saharah was in town yesterday, so I made some purchases from her. I ended up with a simple medium orange mat, a tree-lined wall, brown argyle rug, and pyramid tile.

Today, Judy was camping at the campsite. She’s one of the eight new villagers in New Horizons, and she is kinda cute, but I did not ask her to move in.

Judy: Oh, thank you for stopping by. I don't believe we've met. I'm Judy.
It’s an honor to meet you, Judge.

C.J. was also in town, and he asked me to catch three big-time fish in a row for his challenge. I caught a sea bass, a barred knifejaw, and a zebra turkeyfish to complete the challenge.

Tia was crafting today, and she taught me the recipe for the spooky arch. It requires 10 orange pumpkins, 10 pieces of hardwood, and three pieces of clay. I only had enough pumpkins and wood to make one, but I’ll make more another day.

At 10:00 tonight, I opened my gate for Friday Night Forest. Logan, Xavier, and William showed up…and that seemed to be it. We visited some villagers, talk about the apparent lack of creepy furniture in New Horizons, hung out at the graveyard, and went diving.

Alex from Pawnee then came over, so we had five players. That was as many as we were going to get, so we headed over to the frog course for likely one last race. I plan on taking the frog race course out soon to make something Halloween-themed. The final frog race ended just like the first frog race, with William winning. Congrats, William!

Xavier achieved a personal best by completing the race for the first time. 😂 As you may remember, he got stuck on the course last week. 😛

After the race, Logan left, and I took this photo by my spooky scarecrow. The white spooky stuff seems to look the creepiest, IMO.

Shortly after 11:00, William left, and then Alex left as well. I was feeling tired tonight, and maybe I was boring everyone. So about 11:15, I ended the session and closed the gate for the night. Thanks to everyone who came! I’ll try to have a new activity to make things more interesting next week.

If all goes well, I’ll be posting two videos this weekend: one on Saturday and one on Sunday. You can see my latest videos here.

Have a great weekend, everyone! I’ll be back with another entry tomorrow for the fishing tournament!

Wrinkly Kong

Yesterday, my pumpkin plants yielded another crop. So apparently it’s every two days that more pumpkins grow. Not bad.

It was raining in town, which saved me some time from watering. And Gulliver was in town, washed up on the beach. I dug up the five pieces of his communicator and returned them to him.

Gulliver: Weigh anchor... Check its blood pressure. Who's your provider... Nyam, nyam...

Hornsby was sick with a cold, so I gave him some medicine. He thanked me by giving me a biker jacket.

Also, Lopez taught me a recipe for a spooky lantern.

Today, I received my thank-you letter from Gulliver. He sent me the Tower of Pisa as my reward.

I’m glad he sent a furniture item this time, instead of some silly accessory. But I’m not sure how or where to use it, so I’m leaning towards putting it into storage for now.

Leif was in town again today, which makes twice in the first week of October. I bought some more pumpkin starts and some more orange windflower seeds as well.

I bought another spooky arch at Nook’s Cranny, but I’m hoping to get the recipe for this one soon. I plan on replacing my stone arches with spooky arches, so I’ll still need four more.

Hornsby was talking about the Halloween decorations around town, and he wondered if it was ghosts putting them up! No, it’s me!

Hornsby: What do you think of the idea that ghosts put them out while we're not watching?

Lopez taught me a new D.I.Y. recipe for a spooky standing lamp, and I got the recipes for the spooky chair and spooky candy set from balloon presents. Even though I hated using up three pieces of candy so soon, I made the candy set and put it on the table at the amusement park.

Between the entrances of Death Valley and Decay (D.K.) Country, I put a pattern of Wrinkly Kong. She’s a Donkey Kong character, but she’s also a ghost (in later games, at least). So it fits both themes; I can’t resist things that have a double meaning (such as puns).

I cleaned up a lot of the extra flowers that appeared overnight (because of the rain yesterday), and I moved some flowers around. I haven’t updated my dream yet, but I’m going to try to do that tomorrow.

See you next time!
