Frozen Sculptures

As the new day started this morning, Isabelle gave me a DIY recipe for a snowflake wreath. It takes just four snowflakes to make, so I made one for my door, and three to give to villagers as gifts.

The Happy Home Academy sent me my weekly score, and I earned 156,886 points this week. But now that I’ve topped out at 150k+, I probably won’t keep mentioning my score in the blog. Also, that means I don’t have to keep my Halloween and mermaid rooms up either. I’ll probably replace one of them with ice stuff, once I have enough.

Daisy Mae was in town, and she was selling turnips for 97 bells apiece. I bought 1,600 of them for a total of 155,200 bells.

Daisy Mae: How much ya want at 97 bells per turnip?

Later, I spoke with my two previous snowboys, and they both gave me a large snowflake! So once you build a perfect snowboy, keep talking to him each day until he melts to get some extra large snowflakes!

Snowboy: I'm so embarrassed. Turns out I had this large snowflake stuck to me.

I rolled up today’s snowballs to make another snowboy, and he was perfect as well. He taught me how to make a frozen sculpture, which resembles a large bear. Here’s a look at my growing snowfam.

I found a lost item on the ground, and it was a book about bonsai trees. That confused me, because I had no idea who that would belong to. I asked Keaton about it, and he was offended that I thought it might be his!

Keaton: You thought this was MINE?! Have you been paying attention to my aesthetic at all?

He told me it looked like Rizzo-type item. So I took it over to the rat’s house, and there I noticed that Rizzo did indeed have several bonsai trees in his house. Oops.

Rizzo: Wait a minute...that's the exact book I lost recently!

Anyway, he thanked me for returning the book and he gave me a doublet.

When I gave Midge a snowflake wreath, she rewarded me with a bulldog jacket. I zoomed in to take a good look at it. I like how it says “DOG DOG DOG” all over it.

I wanted to see if the frozen sculpture could be customized, and it can! For those few brief seconds before the options showed up, I imagined customizing it into sculptures of other animals. However, the options only allow you to change the color of the bear. Oof.

But I decided to make the best of it. I wanted to make a red one and a green one…except that there was no red option. 😛 Okay, pink and green then. I like how they turned out, though! This is the entrance to my island.

See you all next time. Never Stop Crossing!

Forever Dung

One of today’s snowballs seemed to be moving around on its own today, and I knew that meant one thing: Dung beetle! I got my net out and caught my first one in New Horizons.

I caught a dung beetle! This species likes feces!

I donated it to the museum, and I just need three more bugs to complete my collection.

Both of today’s snowballs were again in the open area near Candy Cane Lane, so I didn’t have any trouble rolling up another snowman. I mean, snowboy.

Snowboy: Color? Check. Shine? Check. Size? CHECK. You made everything about me perfect!

He gave me a DIY recipe for some ice flooring, and he also gave me a large snowflake that’s required to make it.

When I passed by town hall, I checked out a new message on the bulletin board. Decco left this last night, referencing some discussion we had about murdering Tabby. 😛

December 11th, 2020. Jeff's making a list. He's checking it twice. He's gonna find out who's Tabby or Agent S. Jeff is readying up his murder pipe. -Decco from Overthere

I removed a bunch of new flower buds, and I also cleaned up the pile of unclaimed DIY recipes from last night. I left the mushroom wreath recipe, though. I figure the seasonal ones are more likely to be needed by someone than the basic recipes you can get year-round.

K.K. Slider was in town, and he performed K.K. Rockabilly. Midge, Hornsby, Apple, and Tybalt also attended the concert.

After the show, I did a little fishing. I earned 2,000 Nook Miles for catching my 2,000th fish.

Moments later, I shot down a balloon present that contained a DIY recipe for a ski-slope wall. It requires just 8 snowflakes to make, and it’s the first of the winter recipes that I’ve received from a balloon present.

And since I neglected to show a picture in yesterday’s entry, here is my Jingle Bells pattern that greets visitors as they arrive from the airport.

I wished on several shooting stars tonight, but there was no sign of Celeste.

See you all next time! Enjoy the rest of your weekend! 🙂

The Snow Has Arrived!

Yesterday, I received the quaint painting in the mail from Jolly Redd. I quaintly rushed it over to the museum, where Blathers confirmed its authenticity.

It was finally snowing in town for longer than three seconds, so it was nice to see the snowflakes falling. It was also nice to see villagers in their cute winter hats!

Tia wears a cute winter hat while standing in front of Nook's Cranny.

Nook’s Cranny had an exit sign for sale, and I thought it would be the perfect gift for Rizzo! 😉

Timmy: Seems like you're interested in an exit sign.
I hope he’ll take the hint.

C.J. was in town, and I completed his challenge by catching three large fish. I later sold him 46,000 bells worth of fish.

As of today (December 11th), winter has fully arrived! Snow now covers the ground and trees. I quickly checked it out this morning, and it’s beautiful!

A frosty winter scene in Forest, with snow covering the grass and trees. A lonely snowflake also floats by.

During the morning announcements, Isabelle said that we can roll up two snowballs to make a snowboy. Wait, just a snowboy? Apparently that’s the only type of snowperson that’s in New Horizons for some reason. I wonder why they didn’t include the others in the recent winter update? But still, I did my duty and built a snowboy.

Snowboy: I can't believe this is your first time making me. I mean, just look at me... I'm perfect!

He taught me a DIY recipe for a frozen counter, and he also gave me a large snowflake (which is required to build the counter). You can also catch (regular) snowflakes as you could in New Leaf, but now you use them for crafting (since there is no snowmam). The frozen furniture looks similar to the ice furniture in New Leaf, and it’s beautiful.

The DIY recipe for a frozen counter.

Catching three snowflakes can also be one of the daily Nook Miles+ goals.

One interesting thing about snowflakes is that you can actually put them in storage! You couldn’t do that in New Leaf, but you can in New Horizons. And yet, we still can’t put flowers (the plants) in storage, but we can keep snowflakes for future use. Give me a break!

And with new flowers sprouting up from yesterday’s snowfall, I’ve reached a point where I had to something I would have found unimaginable in City Folk or New Leaf: I’m having to sell my black roses. I just have too many of them, and nowhere to put them since they can’t go into storage. I kinda hate to do it, but it’s necessary at this point.

I reshaped Frog Pond so that it’s no longer in the shape of a frog face. It’s really meant to recreate some of the hopping fun of the frog race, but in a smaller, non-competitive attraction. Frog suits are optional.

Tia asked me to participate in a treasure hunt, and she gave me six minutes to find the buried item. I found it in less than half of that, and the “treasure” was a diner apron. I know everyone’s definition of “treasure” can vary, but in my opinion, a treasure should at least be a furniture item. Who wants to spend up to six minutes of precious gaming time just to win an apron? 😛

Update: There is one aspect of building snowboys that I want to comment on. When you first start with a small snowball, you don’t roll it around; you kick it. One space at a time. It’s very awkward, and I don’t understand why they made it this way.

At 10:00, I opened my gate for Friday Night Forest. Logan, Alex from Pawnee, and Alex from A-Nation came over. After they checked out the free DIY recipe pile, I showed them my “puppy garden” and frozen counter.

My 'puppy garden' in Animal Crossing: New Horizons.

Over by the snowman, we posed with our snowflakes.

Alex, Alex, Logan, and Jeff show off snowflakes.

We also did some “snowga” (snow yoga) and some synchronized exercises. About 10:30, Xavier came over.

When I visited Hornsby, he told me that his bidet fits his butt perfectly.

Hornsby: This bidet? Fits my butt...perfectly.

At 11:00, Decco joined in. I didn’t have any specific activities planned for tonight, but we hung out at my house for a bit, and we also visited various spots around town to see everything in the snow.

Jumping around at the frog pond.

Alex pointed out that it has been a long time since we played museum tag, so we played several rounds of that. In one round, Alex from A-Nation was seeking, and he ran right past my hiding spot! I guess I was well-hidden (for once, lol). 😀

About 12:25 a.m., I ended the session for the night. Thanks to everyone who came, it was fun!
