Puppies!

Yesterday, Gulliver sent me my latest reward in the mail, and it was a good one: A Sphinx! I put it on my beach for now, although this may not be its permanent location.

Sphinx on the beach.
I think it’s about to pounce on that bird sitting under the tree…

The toy on sale at Nook’s Cranny was a mini circuit (race car track). When I asked about turnip prices, Timmy told me he was buying turnips for 101 bells each. When it gets to be this late in the week, I’ll gladly sell them for a small profit rather than risk losing money. So I sold 1,200 turnips for 121,200 bells.

I didn’t realize at the time that I was neglecting to notice one stack of 100 turnips in a corner of my house! In fact, I didn’t notice until late on Saturday night (when I’m writing this blog entry) that I missed some! So in total, I only made about 3,000 bells profit instead of 13,000. But at least I didn’t lose money, I guess. And maybe I can use the soon-to-be-rotten turnips to catch myself a fly.

Anyway, I straightened up my town a bit and then updated my dream. So the dream version of Forest now includes Candy Cane Lane and the waterfalls (and other changes) at Peach Park. The dream address is 6717-1633-3682 if you’d like to visit.

Later on, I started working on my yard a bit. I took out my pumpkin plants and the fence around my garden. I also moved some flowers around, so that I had blue and black flowers in the area around my house (JVGS colors). 😛

Blue hyacinths and black roses around my house.

I know roses and hyacinths may be an odd combination, but those are the blue and black flowers that I have the most of. As for the empty space where my garden was, I’d like to put in some holiday decorations there…once I find some! It’s disappointing that we don’t get Toy Day decorations at the beginning of the month, like we did for Halloween in October.

C.J. was in town, so I completed his “big-time fish” challenge by catching a dab, a sea bass, and a football fish.

That's 3 big-time fish! Which means...you just completed the challenge! Go tell C.J.!

I had a bunch of fish saved up, so I sold C.J. all of these fish (in three batches): 20 sturgeon, 10 pikes, 5 football fish, 2 barred knifejaws, a red snapper, a koi, and a ray. He paid me a grand total of 375,750 bells. I guess this makes up for my minimal turnip profit. 😛

Later on, Wisp was in town. It took me an unusually long time to find all of his spirits (about 13 minutes), although I was doing a little fishing in between. But when I returned them, Wisp rewarded me with an animal-stripes tee.

OK, so that was all yesterday (Friday). 😛 Today, I found Renee the rhino camping out at the campsite. I had no interest in asking her to stick around.

Renee: Oh! Hope I'm not interrupting you or nothin'.

Nook’s Cranny had a puppy plushie today, and they’re so adorable! They run in place, wag their tails, and move their heads as they (quietly) bark. Breezy and I exchanged puppy colors: She sent me a beige one and I sent her a gray and white one. Thanks, Breezy!

Jeff plays with two puppies?

Midge was finally using the bench near her house, and she asked me to join her!

But after a few seconds, she stood up and started exercising. 😛

K.K. Slider was in town, so I asked him for a random song. He played K.K. Flamenco for me, Bones, and Hornsby.

I went diving to fulfill a Nook Miles+ goal, and my 2nd catch turned out to be my 1st snow crab!

I got a snow crab! It's giving me the cold shoulder.

I took it over to Blathers so it can chill at the museum. Now I only need two more sea creatures! Looks like I may finish that collection before my fish or bug collections.

Tomorrow is HHA judging day. I hope that my two latest villager photos will push my score over the 150k mark. I’ll find out soon enough. See you next time!

Candy Cane Lane

Today’s toy at Nook’s Cranny was an RC helicopter. I bought two of them to give as gifts (for Midge and Agent S).

Tommy: Seems like you're interested in an RC helicopter.

When I ran into Bones, he gave me a free standing toilet that he thought I was looking for. Thanks, Bones! I wasn’t looking for one though, because I normally just go on Rizzo’s house. 😛

Bones: Anyway, I found that thing you were looking for. Ya know...the, um... the standing toilet?

Gulliver was in town today, washed up on the shore. I dug up his five communicator pieces for him, and he’ll be sending me a gift in the mail tomorrow.

I found a lost book up on the cliff, so I investigated further. It was a difficult novel that “only a voracious reader” would read.

This novel looks really difficult. It's the kind of book only a voracious reader would think to pick up.

I thought of Midge, since I often see her reading. But when I asked her about it, she told me it looked like Tia’s book. So I took it to Tia, and she rewarded me with some alpinist overalls.

I then decided to do something with the large, “tall” chunk of land that’s been sitting empty since I took out the Halloween race. I’m not ready to start a new race or obstacle course, but since we’re a few days into December now, I wanted to do something festive. So I put in a really big candy cane! I call it Candy Cane Lane.

Candy Cane Lane

It’s so big that you can see it from space! OK, well maybe not space, but you can certainly see it from the map. 😉

The map of Forest Island as of December 3, 2020.

For the record, I wouldn’t be opposed to making a Christmas-themed race or obstacle course…but the problem is that we don’t have any Christmas items and decorations yet. And by the time we do get them (on Christmas Eve, most likely), the holiday season will be nearly over.

While looking at my map above, I noticed something else. The three villagers that haven’t given me their photos yet are the three that have been in town longest! Louie, Midge, and Agent S! I hope there’s not a glitch or anything that’s preventing them from giving me their photos. Probably not, but it does seem odd that I get newer villagers’ pictures first.

See you next time! 🙂

Pond Smelt

When I put up the new photos of Bones and Rizzo the other night, I earned 3,000 Nook Miles for the “Hoard Reward” achievement. I’ve now topped 100 furniture items in my house. The next and final reward comes at 150 items, which seems insane! I guess I’ll need to hang up more wall items, because most of my rooms don’t have a lot of floor space available.

Today’s toy at Nook’s Cranny was a dinosaur toy. I bought a few to give to my villagers as gifts.

Tommy: Seems like you're interested in a dinosaur toy.

At Able Sisters, I bought a blue Terry-cloth nightcap. It looks like a Santa cap, so I thought it would be fitting for December.

When I visited Apple, she was dreaming of talking to a beetle while on a spaceship. Apple may be a bit weird, but she’s cute. 😉

Apple: Mnn...hey there, Mr. Beetle...zzz... what are you doing...zzz...on this spaceship...wah? Huh?

I did some fishing, and I caught my first pond smelt. It’s new for December (at least in the northern hemisphere). I took the smelly thing over to Blathers at the museum.

I caught a pond smelt! Whoever smelt it dealt it!

I know that some of you have now finished your fish collections, so congrats! Personally, I still need 13 fish! 😮 I bet I’m missing some fish that appear earlier in the day, since I mostly play in the evening and at night.

There are some new seasonal items available for December through the Nook Stop. Don’t forget to order an aurora wall and midwinter sweater!

Flick was in town, so I sold him three wasps, an emperor butterfly, a tarantula, and a scorpion for a total of 41,250 bells.

Later on, I went diving. I caught my first lobster, spiny lobster, and red king crab…all within a three-minute span!

I got a lobster! Lobjective complete.

I only need three more sea creatures now.

I’m afraid there’s not going to be a Friday Night Forest this week. But I’m going to try to have one next week (on December 11th).

Have a great day, and I’ll see you all next time!
