Prehistoric Flavors

Yesterday, I received my twinkling painting in the mail from Jolly Redd, and it was the real deal.

The Starry Night. Vincent van Gogh, 1889. Oil on canvas.
This is one of my favorite paintings.

It’s been raining pretty much every day this week, and I’m getting tired of it (and the dozens of new flower buds I have to clean up every day). It’s so bad that I actually agreed with Rizzo about something!

Rizzo: I'm a rat, when's this dad-gummed rain gonna stop?!

Flick was in town, so I grabbed some bugs out of storage to sell to him. I only had a few though, so my payday was only about 25,000 bells.

Today, Bones was talking about bones. Well, not exactly bones, but fossils. He said that if I find a fossil of a yummy dessert, he wanted to lick it. I don’t think it would taste very good after thousands of years, but okay.

Bones: You're going treasure hunting? If you find a fossil of a yummy dessert, can I lick it?

Ah yes, the two types of fossils: dino bones and ice-cream cones.

Bones: I wanna taste prehistoric flavors...
Maybe I can find some fossilized moose tracks.

C.J. was in town with a seasports challenge for me: He wanted me to catch three big-time fish in a row. That’s easy enough, so I caught a black bass, dace, and another black bass. I later grabbed nine fish out of storage and sold them to C.J. for a total of almost 73k.

C.J.: Oh, you got a whole school for me? All together that'll be... 72,750 bells. Deal?

I found a lost item on the ground outside of Apollo’s house, and it was a bag that was apparently “the work of a craftsman.” I think I remembered that being a cranky item, so I asked Apollo about it. Sure enough, it was his. He thanked me for returning it by giving me a sports cap.

I am planning on having Friday Night Forest this week. So if you’re on my roster, feel free to stop by Friday around 10 p.m. Eastern time.

  1. It’s really easy to have an infestation of flowers in this game due to rain watering them. I have friends whose entire islands are littered with flowers because they haven’t dug them up for a while or didn’t think that it’d become a problem. I cleared out all of my flowers which weren’t supposed to be there in the first few months of the game and (luckily) haven’t allowed them to spread out of control, but it was annoying and genuinely made my island look ugly.

  2. Honestly cleaning up extra flower petals from rain showers has gotten so annoying. Why can’t we have a faster way to clean up all of the unneeded flowers? The shovel is too slow.
