World Pizza

Yesterday, Gullivarrr was in town. I went diving for his communicator and returned it to him. While diving, I also caught a scallop, which caused Pascal to pop up out of the ocean and ask for it. He told me that he wishes for world pizza. Sounds good to me!

Pascal: Lots of folks wish for world peace. Not me. I wish for world pizza. Hard to fight when you're eating pizza.

Today, Gullivarrr sent me this pirate outfit in the mail. I’ve received one of these before, but this is a different color (blue). For some reason, the blue stripes seem a bit less pirate-y to me, but arrr, what do I know?

The pirate outfit with blue stripes.

I visited Tybalt, and he was talking about his bell cricket. He’s apparently jealous of bugs, because some insects can lift a hundred times their own body weight. 😛

Tybalt: Bugs are crazy! Some of 'em can lift a hundred times their own body weight. If only...

Celeste was hanging out up on Eagle Mountain, even though I hadn’t heard any shooting stars to that point (though I did later). She gave me a DIY recipe for a hyacinth wand.

SWEET! I learned a DIY recipe for a hyacinth wand!

C.J. was also in town, but I didn’t even speak to him. I guess I just wasn’t in the mood to fish.

Midge asked me to catch a stinkbug for her, and I agreed to help out. Request favors don’t show up every day, after all. But I had a hard stinkin’ time finding the bug! 😛 Fortunately, I did eventually catch one before Midge headed to bed.

Midge: You caught me my very own stinkbug!

She rewarded me with some farmer overalls. Kinda disappointing overall.

I shot down a few balloon presents, but I didn’t get any more cherry blossom recipes. So I’ve only received one this year, and there are only two more days to go! I guess it’s going to take me several years to get them all. 🌸

No Friday Night Forest this week.

Wario Hat for Rizzo

Yesterday, O’Hare was camping over at the campsite. I’m not interested in having him move into town, but I was happy to say hello to the guy.

O'Hare: I'll be here for a little while, laughing sometimes and fake-crying other times... Ah, the life of a performer...

I had accidentally ordered a Wario hat that I didn’t need, so I decided to give it to Forest’s own villain…Rizzo. He put the hat on right away, and he gave me a flashy jacket in return.

Rizzo, wearing a Wario hat: Thanks--I feel spiffier already!

Later, Sam asked me to check out his new obstacle course and give him some input on it. So I headed to his town of Seattle; Jac and Nicky also joined in (and later, Matthew as well). But first, Sam wanted to give a tour of his town. A lengthy, hour-and-a-half long tour. 😛

He has a nice town, with a lot of my favorite villagers (including Bob, Lolly, Tangy, Tom, and Shep). But we eventually made it to the obstacle course.

Sam's obstacle course.

It’s quite short, as you can see, but I liked it. I lost to Sam in the first race, and they held a few more races. But I noticed that the person in the top row (yellow) reached the finish line first every time. (The tracks both had a pitfall, but in different places.) Maybe it was just a coincidence, but if it was my track, I’d keep an eye on future results to see if it has a possible balance issue.

Today, Louie sent me some art in the mail: a dynamic painting! It was authentic, but I already have it in my museum. So I’ll probably save it as a future prize for something.

Many of my villagers were talking about the fishing tournament coming up on Saturday. But Apple was just wondering what she should wear to the event. She wants to look good when she accepts her trophy…

Apple: I have to start thinking about what I'm going to wear. I've got to look good when I accept my trophy...

Too bad it doesn’t work that way any more. Unlike New Leaf, there are no trophy ceremonies in this game (unfortunately).

Label was in town, and she again wanted to see a vacation look. But I’ve already passed this test! She gave me a groovy shirt to get me started, so I put it on. I also added the other pieces that I used before to pass this test: moccasin boots, soccer shorts, and a skateboarding helmet. She loved the outfit, and she rewarded me with a Labelle cap.

Wearing a 'vacation' look.

Over at the arcade, Tybalt said he could spend a whole day playing on a pinball machine. That sounds fun, although I think I’d get a bit tired of it before the day was through. 😛

Tybalt: Ooh, I could really lose a whole entire day playing with a pinball machine...

See you all next time!

Bunny Day 2021

Today is Bunny Day, so Happy Easter to you all! Zipper T. Bunny was hanging out at the plaza, and he gave me 10 stone eggs to get me started. When I spoke with him again, he gave me a Bunny Wand as my reward for crafting all his recipes (which I did last year).

Zipper hands me a bunny wand.

It’s actually not a bad gift, because it sells for 11,100 bells. And I felt free to sell it, because I still have the one from last year in storage. Anyway, he also asked for one egg of each type. When I handed them over, he gave me a Bunny Day basket. This step can be repeated for multiple baskets, but they only sell for 1,200 bells.

So unless you’re farming eggs for baskets one at a time, there’s really not much to this event if you’ve played before or if you’ve already crafted everything. In a way, it’s disappointing. But at the same time, I’m glad I didn’t have to spend any more time with this obnoxious event than I already have. 😛

My villagers were all dressed up for the event, and most of them were a bit too excited about it.

Bones: HOORAY AND YAY FOR BUNNY DAAAY!

Apollo seemed to be the lone exception. He didn’t understand why people made such a big deal over Bunny Day. Although that seemed a bit disingenuous, considering he was all dressed up in eggshells for the occasion.

Apollo: It amazes me how worked up folks get over Bunny Day. What's so great about a bunch of candy eggs?

There were tons of balloon presents flying overhead, although the vast majority were just sky eggs. But I did get one that had a new seasonal recipe I needed, the cherry-blossom pochette.

Shortly after 9:00, I headed over to Logan’s town of Moonscar for his Easter party. Logan had an Easter egg hunt, with dozens of eggs hidden all over his town. It was a great idea, and it was a lot of fun…even though I didn’t do all that great at it.

Searching for eggs.

I wish Zipper T. Bunny had something like this, as an official timed, Bug-Off style event. That would be so much better than what Zipper does now.

If you’re wondering, I was wearing a yellow bunny hood and a pattern of Gaston (from the design portal) as a shirt. It was my attempt at being semi-Eastery. At least I was a bunny. 😛

After that, we hung out in Logan’s house for a while. Alex from Pawnee (in the white bunny suit) had the best costume.

Hanging out in Logan's house.

I left about 11:00. Thanks for the invitation, Logan! The egg hunt was fun! 🐇🐰🥚

Note: I uploaded my first annual slideshow of New Horizons pictures today. It’s provides a look back at the events of the past year, including the early days of Forest. I hope you’ll check it out and enjoy the memories. 🙂

Happy Easter and Happy Bunny Day, everyone!
