Acting Snooty

Late on Sunday night (technically Monday morning), I found Wisp roaming around town. I recovered his spirits for him, and he rewarded me with an exit sign.

On Monday evening, I saw that Deirdre the deer was camping at the campsite. But I was definitely not fawning over her. She’s nice and all, but I did not invite her to move in.

Deirdre: Oh! Hope I'm not interrupting you or nothin'. I'm just out here campin'!

Eloise wanted to play a “game,” but it wasn’t really a game. She wanted me to give her my unfinished puzzle (in exchange for a mystery item).

Eloise: Well, it's not much of a game, really. More like, you GIVE me your unfinished puzzle...

I turned down the offer, and she told me to let her know when I stop hating fun.

Eloise: Oh? Really?! Well, when you stop hating fun, please do let me know, tooooot!

Well what do you know? I guess she really is a snooty villager after all. They may not show it very often in New Horizons, but I saw a glimpse of it there.

I finished up my new area, and you can see it at the beginning of my latest video, New Horizons Moments #8.

This UFO spotting area is located where my amusement park was. I also demolished the log bridge near there, and I’m in the process of replacing it with a stone bridge. The log bridges were built in the early weeks of Forest, and I just used the cheapest option at the time. But I’d like to change at least some of them to better-looking bridges.

Today, the Nooklings were paying 317 bells per turnip. So I grabbed my 1,400 turnips out of my house and sold them all for a total of 443,800 bells.

Timmy: And done! I can buy these from you for a total of 443,800 bells. Sound good?

That earned me 2,000 Nook Miles for completing the 4th (of five) goals for the “Cornering the Stalk Market” objective. However, the final one requires ten million bells worth of turnip sales, when I just topped one million. That will take me a while, especially since I rarely buy turnips. 😛

I found a lost item near the fountains, and it was an exercise book. I returned it to its owner, Louie. He gave me a thick-stripes shirt as my reward…which he called a “big-ticket item.” I hope he was joking, but who knows what he’s thinking? 😂

Louie: I know. Kind of a big-ticket item, so please take car of it, oh banana.

See you next time!

Learning to Sigh

K.K. Slider was in town last night, and he performed the song “Stale Cupcakes.” That’s a good song! Midge and Tia joined me for the show.

K.K. Slider performs for Tia, Midge, and Jeff.

After the show, I went home to do some crafting. As I browsed through my list, I noticed that the document stack is made from scattered papers…and scattered papers can be made from a document stack! So you can take one of those items and craft it into the other one, back and forth endlessly, with no additional materials needed. This could be a very helpful thing to keep in mind for Nook Miles+ goals!

It was raining in town, and Bones told me about a game he likes to play: Run Around And Scream. 😱

Bones: Rainy days like this are perfect for playing games indoors. Me? I really like to play Run-Around-And-Scream!

Later on, I made a fairly significant change to town by removing the amusement park. It’s been a part of Forest for a year now…almost to the day. But it’s time to move on to something different. The new attraction will be much simpler, but I’m still not done with it yet. It’s tricky getting the spacing just right.

This morning, I bought some turnips from Daisy Mae…for the first time in two and a half months.

Daisy Mae: Alright, so 1,400 turnips comes to... 127,400 bells. Does that sound OK to you?

Just a heads-up that a cheese wheel (officially called a double Gloucester cheese) is available as a seasonal item.

Available until May 31: Double Gloucester cheese, 1,200 bells.

Down on the beach, Eloise pinged me and taught me the sighing reaction! I’m surprised there were this many snooty reactions I still needed (and I still need at least love).

I learned the sighing reaction! Just my luck...

I wonder why Claudia didn’t teach me more of these things!

Tia asked me for a new catchphrase to replace “with cream,” so I told her to say “in my tea” instead.

Hit the Hay

I received the solemn painting in the mail from Jolly Redd today. As I expected, the painting was the real deal. I donated it to the museum, and I was surprised by how big it is! Especially when compared to the paintings next to it.

I found Wisp in town, up on the Rainbow Road part of my Mario obstacle course. That’s not the first time I’ve found him up there. I caught (and returned) his five spirits, and he rewarded me with some pink-paint flooring.

Tia was considering moving out of town, but I asked her to stay. At this point, I think Midge may be the only one I’d let leave…although Apple might be next on that list (even though I like them both!).

At about 10:05 (sorry I was a bit late), I opened my gate for Friday Night Forest. Sacky and Bran came over. I showed them my new race, Hit the Hay. It’s an obstacle course made primarily of hay beds. You have to roll across the beds, cross the tire toy, roll across more beds, turn on your tiki torch, and then race back to the starting point. Sacky didn’t want to participate, so I raced against Bran (and I won).

My Hit the Hay race.

Alex from Pawnee and William also came over, so they raced against each other. William won a close race. I then raced Bran again (and I won again). The races went well…but maybe a bit too well. I was hoping for some noticeable lag, like you sometimes see indoors when someone rolls across a bed, but it all went smoothly.

I won’t be posting a separate video about this race, but I will include one round of it in the next Wi-Fi Moments video.

Anyway, all four of my visitors were up on the observation deck (where you can get a good view of the hay bed races). And I learned that if I dig holes around the cliff, they can’t get down! (A fence blocks them from entering into the race area itself.)

Jeff: Haha, I've found a flaw.

We then did a couple of Mario races, with Alex beating William and me beating Bran. We ran around for a bit, and Bran left around 11:00.

Alex was rolling on Eloise’s bed, and he rolled through the wall. Now that is the type of lag I wanted to see during my races. 😛

Saharah was in town, and some of my visitors bought some items from her. We discussed her annoying dialogue system: You can’t see what you’re buying, and it’s time-consuming to buy everything. I’d love if she had a “buy everything” option.

But I also learned something from Alex that I never realized: The bonus item you get with her rug tickets is different from the normal “mysterious” wallpaper/carpeting! I always assumed it was the same one, so I never bought the mysterious wallpaper if I got the bonus wallpaper. Oops!

We then had a diving competition, and I was surprised to see that it went the full ten minutes without anyone arriving, leaving, or disconnecting! I actually won, with 24 catches. Alex was 2nd with 20, and William had 17. Sacky did not participate…just like every other event tonight. 😛

Over at the campsite, Alex gave my ocean sunfish a GameCube tutu.

An ocean sunfish wears a GameCube umbrella...tutu?
Beware of the flying NINTENDO OCEAN GAMECUBE SUNFISH creature/game system. Coming to a campsite or game store near you.

At about 11:40, Xavier came over. Alex disconnected briefly, and then returned. Xavier and Alex raced on the “Hit the Hay” game, and Xavier won.

After that, we hung out at my house until about 12:30. That’s when I ended the session for the night. Thanks to all who came! It was fun! 🙂

I’m not sure how long I’ll keep my “Hit the Hay” race up, but probably long enough for at least a couple more FNFs. But the Mario race is probably only staying up for one more FNF. I’m not sure when that next FNF will be though, but it’s probably not going to be next week.

Have a good weekend!
