Saving 25 Million Bells

On Monday, Hornsby told me that smelling some good smells can cheer him up when he’s sad. So he said that he sometimes tapes an apple to his face!

Hornsby: Sometimes I'll tape an apple to my face! I can walk around happy, even on the rainiest days!

Jolly Redd was in town, and the only real work of art he had was the flowery painting. I already have that one in my museum, but I bought it anyway to use as a future prize for one of my races.

Yesterday, I heard from Rizzo! Well, sort of. I found a note from him in a message bottle. 😛 It contained a DIY recipe for a standard umbrella stand, which I didn’t need.

A message bottle from Rizzo.

I updated my dream while the sun was still out, so you can all check out my King Tut race if you’d like. The starting point is on the southwest beach, and there’s an outfit you can wear for the race. The dream address is 6717-1633-3682. Enjoy your visit!

Today, Tia told me she was thinking about moving out of town. I told her to stay. I may not keep her around forever, but I’m not ready to say goodbye to her just yet.

C.J. was in town, and he had a freestyle challenge for me. I just had to catch any five fish in a row without letting one get away. So I caught an angelfish, a freshwater goby, a crucian carp, a tilapia, and another crucian carp to complete the challenge.

I then went home to grab some fish out of storage. I returned to sell C.J. 345,000 bells worth of fish.

C.J.: Oh, you got a whole school for me? All together that'll be... 345,000 bells. Deal?
Deal!

When I put that money in the bank, my balance topped 25 million bells!

Savings Balance: 25,305,793 bells.

Apple was sick with a cold, so I gave her some medicine. Get well soon, Apple!

July is almost here, along with many summer bugs! I may even do some bug-hunting tonight at midnight! I really want to finish my bug collection ASAP!

Note: I am planning on hosting Friday Night Forest this week. If you’re on my roster, feel free to stop by. But please bring a King Tut mask if you want to race!

And speaking of the race, I made a new pattern to warn racers about pitfall seeds.

Beware of pitfalls pattern on the ground.

See you all next time!

Silver Bug Trophy

Flick sent me a letter in the mail today, congratulating me on amassing 200 points in the Bug-Off competitions so far. He sent me a silver bug trophy, which I displayed in my house next to my silver fish trophy.

My silver fish trophy and silver bug trophy.

Hornsby had an epic rant about wind chimes, of all things. But I actually agreed with him. They can be really annoying when you’re trying to sleep!

Hornsby: Why do I gotta listen to some wind chimes from THREE HOUSES OVER 'cause folks dig clanging metal?!

K.K. Slider was in town, and I requested one of his secret songs, “Farewell.” Hornsby, Eloise, and Midge were also there to enjoy the show.

K.K. Slider performs Farewell for Hornsby, Eloise, Midge, and Jeff.

After the show, I took the aircheck to my stereo and stuck it in, thinking that completed my collection. However, it seems that I only have 94 songs and New Horizons supposedly has 95 in the game. I’m not sure which song I’m missing, but I’ll have to figure that out another time.

Up near the campsite later on, I found a lost item: a fabric bag that featured cartoon characters. I returned it to its owner, Agent S. She rewarded me with a fishing vest.

On my way back home, I saw Tybalt hanging out on a stone stool, holding a can of pop, at the oasis. I joined him for a few moments; it’s always nice to see the villagers using the areas you’ve designed. 🙂

Have a great day!

June Bug-Off

The June Bug-Off was held today, so I went up to the plaza and spoke with Flick to get it started. I quickly realized that having a large, fenced off desert without flowers or trees is not very conducive to a bug-hunting competition. 😛

And when you consider that I stopped to shoot down a balloon present and fish out an arapaima, it’s probably not a big surprise that I only caught five bugs in my first attempt (for a score of 7 points).

But still, that first round kicked my overall point total over 200. So Flick should be sending me a prize in the mail tomorrow.

Flick: That means... Oh! Your total points from all the Bug-Offs now adds up to at least 200!

I continued competing in several more rounds, scoring 6, 11, 15, 10, 9, 11, 7, and 11 points, respectively. In this picture, Tybalt watched me reach my highest score of the day (13 bugs = 15 points).

Tybalt watches me catch a long locust for my 13th bug.

It was time to redeem my points for some prizes, so Flick gave me a butterfly backpack, three ladybug umbrellas, a bug aloha shirt, a butterflies wall, two termite mounds, and a spider doorplate.

Flick: The epic tale of my pilgrimage to obtain these relics should be written on a scroll or something! Enjoy.

When I played later, nothing was going on. K.K. wasn’t around for his usual Saturday night show because of the Bug-Off. And Midge was just talking about a turnip book.

Midge: I'm about midway through Turnip Your Enthusiasm. It's such a great book!

But I saw on the bulletin board that I have two villager birthdays coming up in the next eight days: Agent S on July 2nd and Apollo on July 4th.

See you next time! Enjoy the rest of your weekend. 🙂
