Giant Snakehead

Graham the hamster was camping at the campsite today.

Graham: Hey, you're a local, right? The name's Graham. Ha HA! That's how I laugh.

I was originally thinking he camped here before, but I was wrong about that. However, I did see him on a mystery island once last year. I wasn’t interested then, and I still wasn’t interested today. 😛

I was playing in the early afternoon today, because I was trying to catch some new fish that I didn’t have yet. And my search paid off! Up on the cliff, I caught my first giant snakehead in a pond!

I caught a giant snakehead! Um...but I asked for a medium?

I quickly donated it to the museum, and I only have two more fish to go! And now that my list is down to just two fish, I consulted a guide to see what I was missing. One of them is a betta, which is another early-day fish. Hopefully I’ll be able to catch that one soon.

However, the other fish I need is a golden trout. It won’t be out until September, which is rather disappointing. But at least I don’t have to wait until winter. 😛

While I was out fishing, I spotted a banded dragonfly. (I didn’t need it for the museum, but they’re valuable.) Even though they’re not usually very hard to catch in New Horizons (unlike in early AC games), this one was even easier than usual. That’s because it got caught in the bridge and couldn’t fly away! It was just a sitting duck! 😛

Midge asked me to make a delivery to Eloise, so I headed over to the yellow elephant’s house. The gift was a stovetop espresso maker, and she loved it. She rewarded me with something she picked out just for me: a dog nose. Wait, what? Why?

Eloise: I picked this out especially for you. It's going to look fabulous! It's a dog nose!

Umm… thanks?

Hornsby asked me to catch a goldfish for him, so I tried…and tried…and tried. I tried for over an hour and a half, but I never found one! I hate failing requests in New Horizons, and this might be my first failed one. But when requests take up half your day, it’s really not worth it IMO. Sorry, Hornsby.

I haven’t started removing my Mario obstacle course just yet. I’m considering making a video that showcases various parts of my town (not a tour, though), so I don’t want a big chunk of my town under construction when I make it. 😛

Later on, I found Wisp in town. I recovered his spirits for him, and he rewarded me with some pastel puzzle flooring.

Nintendo’s E3 Direct is coming up on Tuesday! I’m sure there will be some New Horizons update news then. Have they been saving up big feature announcements for E3? Or will it just be another standard update with a few new seasonal items and not much else? We’ll find out soon enough.

I’ll probably share my full E3 thoughts in either a video or a blog entry on Tuesday or Wednesday. But I’ll likely post instant reactions on Twitter. See you soon!

Update: Animal Crossing was not mentioned in the E3 Nintendo Direct. So there won’t be a video or blog entry about it, just my tweets.

1st Duplicate Song

I found Eloise doing some yoga in front of her house today, so I joined in. Or at least, I tried to join in. But I don’t think I did it right, because she gave me the side-eye!

I slid on over to the plaza, where I caught some live music. K.K. performed K.K. Etude for me and Apple.

After the show, I took the aircheck over to my stereo. But I got a message saying that I didn’t have any songs to register!

You don't have any songs you can register!

This was the first time K.K. gave me a duplicate song, so apparently, I now have all of his regular songs! I think I may still need one or two of his secret songs though, so I’ll look into that next week (if I remember). 😛

Otherwise, it was an uneventful night (in Forest, at least). I wished on a couple of shooting stars, and then I wrapped up my game for the night. But I’ll see you all next time!

Long Time No See x 3

At 10:00 tonight, I opened my gate for Friday Night Forest. MaryAnn, better known as Yann, came over for her first visit in New Horizons! I played a lot of City Folk and New Leaf with her in the past, but I hadn’t played with her in any game since…2015?! So it was good to see her again!

I started giving Yann a tour of my island, and Sacky and Bran also came over.

Sacky, Jeff, MaryAnn, and Bran hang out near the UFOs.

Alex from Pawnee joined in, and we continued the tour. Once we got to the Mario course, we ran some races on it. Bran beat Yann in the first race, and then Bran left for the night. But Nami and Logan came over, and we continued the races. Alex beat Sacky, Logan finished ahead of Nami (but he cheated by not following the arrow at the turn 😂), and then Xavier came over.

We continued with the races: I beat Yann, and then Alex beat Xavier. We then played several “Hit the Hay” races and then I showed Yann my house. We hung out there for a while, and Logan left about 11:50.

Once we were done in my house, we went out and jumped around the ponds up on the cliffs…until Alex disconnected at 1 a.m. Normally, I would have ended the session around then. But this time, I knew that Megan was on her way! I hadn’t played with her since…Halloween?

With Yann and Megan in town, it felt like an ACCF reunion! I showed Meg the Mario and hay races, and then we played some sumo as well. Just like old times!

About 2:15, it was time for yet another “long time no see,” as Tom41 showed up! I haven’t played with him since last year either. He also got to see the Mario race, but we ended up just acting silly, making puns, playing word games, and playing with fish, of course.

Tom left before long, but the rest of us continued being silly, talking about food and spicy sports, and reminiscing about old times in City Folk. Around 3:30, I ended the session for the night. Thanks to everyone who came, it was a lot of fun! 🙂

I’ll be back with another blog entry tomorrow. See you then, and have a great weekend!
