Nat’s Class

On Monday night, I found Donkey Kong Louie enjoying some nighttime coffee at the Roost.

Louie: Whoa! You're on Team Night Coffee too, oh banana?

When I went out to Lottie’s Island, I was surprised to see Nat on the beach! He said he was giving a lecture on bugs at the school, but he couldn’t find the school. 😛

Nat: Hello there! By any chance are you from Paradise Planning? My name is Nat, and I'm in a bit of a pickle.

I agreed to show him the way, and then we magically appeared in the classroom. He said that I can now release bugs into yards of vacation homes.

Nat, at the classroom: I'd like everyone to select a bug from their pockets and set it free into a vacation home's yard. Any bug at all.

The only catch is that I have to bring my own bugs, to have them fly (or crawl) around freely. You can’t use the bugs from the catalog if you want them to be free. This is a pretty cool feature; imagine filling a yard with fireflies!

I remembered to visit the hospital, and Joan gave me 50 turnips this week. When I told Dr. Octavian I had a stinging pain in my knees, he gave me some knee bandages this time (instead of a mummy outfit).

Octavian: All done! Told you I'd be quick. Now, if you inspect your pockets, you'll notice some knee bandages in there.

On Tuesday night, Wisp was in town. I gathered up his spirits for him, and he gave me a simple bed.

Today, I found Gulliver on the beach. I found (and returned) his communicator parts for him, so he’ll send me a reward in the mail tomorrow.

In Peach Park, I found Ketchup having a “sit party” all by herself. So I plopped down next to her for a few moments. My presence didn’t make it any more of a party, but at least she wasn’t alone.

Nook’s Cranny was paying extra for garden rocks today, so I got a couple rows of stones out of storage and crafted a few dozen garden rocks to sell. I have too many materials in storage, so this was a good opportunity to thin them out a bit…and make some bells in the process.

I found a bone tee in the recycle box at Resident Services, and I decided to wear it. I’ve been wearing green for a while, so I might as well give yellow a try.

When I was up on the cliff, I saw Beardo hanging out just below the edge. So I watered him a few times, and then I hit him with my net. He told me to knock it off, even though he was speaking from a lower level. 😛

Beardo: Hey, I'm not really a fan of that. Can you knock it off?

SPOILER ALERT

Again, if you don’t want to be spoiled by a feature at the end of Happy Home Paradise, you may want to stop reading this entry now. Fair warning. 😛

When I went out to Lottie’s Island, I was a bit surprised to see little glowing things in the air!

It turns out there was another music festival underway, so I made my way to the north beach to do some dancing. Rolf, Cephalobot, and Rio were all there dancing…that’s three villagers I would really like to have in Forest.

DJ K.K. performs at the music festival for Jeff, Rolf, Avery, Rio, Cephalobot, and others.

I’m glad the music festival wasn’t just a one-time thing. It’s a fun little distraction every now and then.

See you all next time! 🙂

Marina’s Birthday

When I started up the game today, Tom Nook called me and told me he wanted to talk to me at Resident Services. He said that people have been talking about my house-designing work at Paradise Planning, and they would like me to remodel their homes too!

Tom Nook: I've received inquiries from folks who would like you to remodel their homes. Quite a few, in fact!

So I can now opt to redesign my villagers’ homes! Tom Nook said there is a fee involved, but I can earn miles for each design. I’m glad I’ve finally unlocked this ability, although I didn’t start work on any houses just yet. But I think Agent S might be the first one; she really needs an extreme home makeover.

K.K. Slider was in town, so I asked him to play a random song. He played K.K. Calypso for me, Agent S, Apollo, Ketchup, and Bones. Yeah, it was a pretty decent-sized crowd again this week!

That butterfly enjoyed the show too.

Today is Marina’s birthday, and I was trying to figure out a good gift to give her. Nook’s Cranny didn’t have anything that jumped out at me, so I looked through my crafting options. I figured something aquatic would be fitting, so I ended up making her a mermaid vanity. She seemed to like it!

Marina: Oh, in 2022! You brought me a mermaid vanity!

Marina moved into Forest last August, so this was her first birthday in town. But she’s already looking ahead to next year!

Marina: I hope I can spend my next birthday here on the island too, in 2022.
The next one will be in 2023, not 2022.

As you can see, Louie was also at the party. I figured this would be a good time to try out my new dancing reactions that I learned yesterday!

After the party, I remembered to go out to Lottie’s Island to check the inventory at my new apparel shop (Forest Fit). Even though it’s nothing new to assign villagers roles in the Happy Home Paradise facilities, it feels a bit weird when they’re actually selling you something. It’s like I turned Olivia into a special character! 😛

Olivia: Let's see... It's 2,300 Poki for an attus robe.

See you all next time!

Apparel Shop Opens

The Bug-Off was held today, and my villagers were all prepared with their cute bug-catching hats. 😂

I participated in the event twice, scoring 11 points on my first attempt, and 12 points on my second run.

Flick: Well done. You earned 12 points!

I redeemed 20 of my 23 points for a bug cage and a spider web.

Later, I went out to Lottie’s Island to work on the final facility. Lottie told me I’d be designing an apparel shop; she had me start off by customizing the shop exterior.

The exterior design of the apparel shop in Happy Home Paradise.

Inside, Lottie told me I can use up to six special mannequins, which will have different items for sale each day (once the shop opens up). I didn’t want to make the shop too similar to GracieGrace, which I’ve already designed for Label(le). So I made the inside of the shop red, with a red art-deco wall and simple red flooring.

I added a cash register, a glass showcase, some counters, a couple of (regular) mannequins, a changing room, and some umbrellas. I decided to hire Olivia as the shop manager, and I gave a name to the shop: Forest Fit.

Or is she just horsing around?

With all the facilities done, it was finally time for the special event that has been in the works. Since the DLC has been out for nearly eight months, I’m sure most of you already know what the event is all about. But for those of you who don’t, you may want to stop reading this entry now if you want the special event to be a surprise.

SPOILER ALERT

Turn back now to avoid spoiling the Happy Home Paradise special event upon completion of 30 vacation homes and all facilities!

Okay, you’re still here. 😛 We went out to the north beach, where DJ K.K. came floating by on a barge. He started playing music, and we all began to dance. It’s like an outdoor version of Club LOL!

DJ K.K. hosts a music festival on Lottie's Island.

It continued to show us all dancing as it showed screenshots of each vacation home and facility I’ve designed. It’s like watching the credits roll, but without the credits. Pretty cool!

Dancing to screenshots of my clients' vacation homes.

When we headed back to the office, Lottie paid me 25,000 Poki for my work. Wardell said he left some products for the music festival at the apparel shop. I then learned some new dancing reactions!

I learned a few dance Reactions! I can't wait to bust out these moves!

After checking out the shop and buying a couple items, I wrapped up my game for the night. It’s nice to finally “beat” the DLC, even though there are still vacation homes left to design. I may do some more of them from time to time, but don’t expect that to happen very often. 😛

See you all next time!
