Rio Life

I was a bit surprised to see K.K. Slider in the plaza on a Monday. But it does make sense, because the Bug-Off was on Saturday and the fireworks festival was on Sunday. I told K.K. I was feeling a little blue, and he played King K.K. for me and Beardo. It was actually pretty good.

K.K.: Feeling downbeat, huh? Well, let me lay that beat down, King K.K. style.

Rio has officially moved into town and started her Forest life, so I went in to greet the island’s first ostrich villager.

Rio: Hey, Jeff! Thanks for hanging at the campsite! I've got to unpack, but I'm here now!
Welcome to Forest!

Rio lives on the northwest cliff, which I have been calling Eagle Mountain since the spring of 2020 when Keaton lived up here. Perhaps I should give it a new name now that there are no eagles around. Of course, ostriches are birds, so maybe I could call it the Bird’s Nest?

I prepared an apple smoothie, and it earned me 3,000 Nook Miles. I have now prepared over 500 food items, so I’ve completed the “Mmm-Mmm-Miles” achievement.

Mmm-Mmm-Miles! completed.

I remembered to go to the hospital on Lottie’s Island for my usual Monday visit, and I scored myself 50 turnips.

In the eastern part of town, I’ve started to remove my space race obstacle course. I’m hoping to have a new obstacle course up at some point in September.

See you again later in the week.

Kimono Party

The final fireworks festival of the year was held tonight, and Isabelle gave me a flower bopper for the occasion.

I scanned my Rio amiibo card, and she showed up at the campsite. She asked me to craft a log garden lounge for her, and I was happy to help. That was the third time I’ve crafted something for her, so she was willing to move into town when I asked her. 👍🏼

Rio, at the campsite: For realsies? Live on this island... Yeah! I could jive with that!

As you may remember, I was trying to get Rio back in April when Beardo rudely interrupted the process. But at least one wrong has now been righted. (I still need to get rid of Beardo, though.)

Around 10:45 tonight, I headed over to Sam’s town of Seattle for his Japanese-themed going-away party. Matthew, Nami, Jac, Nicky, Jesse, and Logan were also there, and we all arrived in kimonos (at Sam’s request). We had some fun with ocean sunfish (of course), and we hung out at the plaza for a bit.

Fun with sunfish.

Sam asked us to follow him to the sumo ring, but it wasn’t clear who was playing or not. Jesse and Nami were walking over pitfalls (using hacks? I don’t know), and we just kind of stood in the ring for a while. 😂 Eventually Sam said he wanted to sumo against me 1-on-1. We did, and I won.

We played on some musical instruments, and Nicky was 🔥 on the drums.

After a while, we headed up to the Roost for a couple cups of coffee. During the 2nd cup, I was way out of sync…and people weren’t happy with me. 😛 I don’t know what I did, though!

We also took a group photo while in the Roost.

Nicky and Logan left shortly after that, and the rest of us went outside. Except for Jac, that is. He was caught in lag land in the doorways of the museum. We just sat and waited for him.

Nami decided to help out by leaving quietly, which kicked all of us back to the airport. Nami then returned, and we played a 6-player round of sumo. Jesse was the winner; congrats!

It was almost 1 a.m. by this point, and I was about to leave. But Sam wanted to take one last group photo, so I quickly followed him to the photo spot. But along the way, he pitfall’d me. Don’t worry, that clip will be in an upcoming video. 😛 But here’s my last group photo of the night:

I had a good time in Sam’s town; good luck to you, Sam! And it was nice seeing everyone again. Thanks to everyone who was there! 🙂

I’ll be back with another blog entry very soon!

Angling for Perfection

Yesterday, Apollo told me he was thinking of moving away.

Apollo: Livin' on this island ain't bad, but I've been thinkin' I might just pull up stakes here and move.

Even though I like Apollo a lot, I decided to let him go. He has had a nice year-and-a-half stay in town, and he celebrated two birthdays here in that span. Also, I have him in City Folk as well, so I’ll still see him in that game.

Gullivarrr was in town, so I went diving to find his communicator. I found it on my first dive, and I returned it to him. He ended up sending me another sea captain’s coat today.

The Bug-Off was held today, and I competed in one (and only one) round. I caught nine bugs, which was good for a total of 11 points. I sold my bugs to Flick for 4,650 bells.

Flick: Well done. You earned 11 points!

I then redeemed my points for a termite mound and a bug wand.

Later, I went to say goodbye to my buddy Apollo. I’m sure he’ll launch to a new town and make a great landing there.

Apollo: Oh man... Movin' is so excitin', but packin' is the worst.

I plan on scanning my Rio amiibo tomorrow (since I already scanned her twice back in April). So I’ll finally be able to get her. But there is another benefit to getting a new villager: It means Beardo will no longer be the newest villager in town. That will make him eligible to move out! Can’t wait to make that happen!

I went fishing for a bit, and catching a clown fish earned me 3,000 Nook Miles…because it was my 5,000th fish caught! My “Angling for Perfection” achievement is now complete!

The completed Angling for Perfection Nook Miles achievement.

I will be back again tomorrow with another entry! Hope to see you then!
