Welcoming 2023

Today is New Year’s Eve, and there is still no sign of a 2023 celebratory arch in Nook Shopping. New Leaf has a dozen of the zodiac animals that are given out on New Year’s Day, and City Folk still has a unique shirt for every year through 2035. So it’s more than a bit odd that these arches seem to have stopped after just two years. They should’ve been programmed into the game from the start, to be honest.

Anyway, I put on my tuxedo and headed over to the plaza. Tom Nook gave me some party poppers, and I also bought an aqua New Year’s silk hat from him. Isabelle then gave me a light stick. However, I was a bit early for the party…so I just took a photo before putting my Switch into sleep mode.

04:23:23 until 2023

I returned before midnight, and I watched the ceremony as the clock struck twelve and 2023 began with a bang.

LOL3! Ew Yec!
(I hate those loopy 2s.)

I particularly enjoyed these colorful fireworks, which appeared immediately after the “Happy New Year” message and the giant 2023.

Five very colorful fireworks explode behind Resident Services in ACNH.

My villagers all wished me a happy new year, and they’re looking forward to 2023 for some reason. 😛

Bones: Happyyy New Year! It's 2023 starting today! That's pretty cool!

I also enjoyed the fireworks from several other spots around town.

I hope you all have a happy, successful, healthy, and enjoyable 2023! 🙂

Note #1: Gullivarrr sent me a pirate dress in the mail earlier in the week. Ah, just what I never wanted. 😛

Note #2: I also enjoyed the New Year’s Eve festivities in New Leaf and City Folk tonight. If you’re interested, you can check out those entries here: NYE in ACNLNYE in ACCF

Toy Day, Punchy’s Photo

Saturday was Christmas Eve, and I decided to participate in the Toy Day activities. I found Jingle hanging out behind Resident Services.

Jingle: Ho ho how's your Toy Day going so far? I hope it's merry as can be!

He told me that he needed wrapping paper before presents could be delivered. So I shook some decorated cedar trees, collected the required ornaments, and crafted three sheets of festive wrapping paper. When I gave them to Jingle, he rewarded me with some Toy Day stockings.

Jingle then gave me a magic bag full of presents; it was time for me to deliver gifts to my villagers! I visited Bones first, but he was sitting down and he needed to stand up to be able to receive a gift. However, he didn’t stand up! Over and over, he said he needed to stand, and I gave him room to stand. But he didn’t stand up…until I gave up and left his house. I then re-entered and gave him the gift. 😛

Bones: For who? For me? A gift? From Santa?

I delivered gifts from Santa to all ten of my villagers, and then I returned to Jingle. He took the magic bag back, and he rewarded me with a Toy Day sleigh. Even though my villagers also wanted to exchange gifts with me, I stopped at that point. Christmas Eve can be a busy time (irl). But it was nice to deliver gifts at least once, and just to participate in the event. 🙂

Yesterday, I had Maelle the ugly duckling as my camper. I was not interested in inviting her to town.

Maelle: Oh, thank you for stopping by. I don't believe we've met. I'm Maelle.

K.K. Slider was in town last night (a day later than usual), and he performed K.K. Western for me and Rio.

Today, Gullivarrr was in town and I retrieved his communicator for him. He’ll send me a gift in the mail.

I wrapped up a rattan vanity and gave it to Punchy. In return, he surprised me by giving me his photo!

Punchy: Here, man! It's Punchy's photo! Enjoy, oh banana!

I’ve now earned photos of all of my current villagers! Yay! 😊 I took Punchy’s pic home and displayed it in my villager photo room. His favorite quote, on the back of the photo, is “There’s always more fish in the sea!” 🐟🐠🐡🦈

Quote on Punchy's photo: There's always more fish in the sea!

Happy holidays! I’ll see you all again later this week. 🙂

Zodiac Rabbit Figurine

Just a heads-up that the zodiac rabbit figurine is now available through Nook Shopping. It costs just 1,600 bells, and it’s really cute! So don’t forget to order one (or two, or three) by January 5th.

Gulliver sent me a lucky cat as my latest reward yesterday. It’s better than most of his rewards, but I still used mine as a gift I gave to Punchy. In return, he gave me a rounded beard. Not the best trade.

Punchy: Here, Jeff! A rounded beard! Just for you, mrmpht!

Wisp was in town tonight, and I gathered up his five loose spirits for him. In return, he gave me a mochi pestle.

I did some diving tonight, and I heard my NookPhone beeping after I caught a turban shell. That was my 2,500th sea creature caught, and I have now completed the “Deep Dive” goals! 😁

Deep Dive: All Nook Miles goals completed.

Tomorrow is Christmas Eve (aka Toy Day), so I hope you all have a great day! Even though I plan on playing a bit of the event in New Horizons, I probably won’t be posting a blog entry. (Though I will post one for City Folk.)

But there will be new ACNH content tomorrow: Check my Youtube channel for a new Wi-Fi Moments video!

Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays, everyone! 🎄
