Rhino to Go

Last Friday, I did not play New Horizons…at all. That was the first day I’ve completely missed since the game was released nearly three years ago.

On Saturday, I sold my turnips from Lottie’s Island. The Nooklings only paid me 47 bells apiece for them, but they were free, after all. The good news is that I can finally confirm that free turnips from Lottie’s Island do count towards your Nook Miles achievement goals! 😎

On Sunday night, I told K.K. Slider I was feeling grumpy. So he tried to cheer me up with a performance of Go K.K. Rider.

K.K.: Feelin' dullsville, Jeff? This will put some pep in your step: Go K.K. Rider!

Tonight, I was surprised to see Ankha at the campsite. She was my original GameCube islander, and I’ve always liked her a lot…despite her snooty personality. (She is my favorite snooty.)

Ankha: Oh, thank you for stopping by. I don't believe we've met. I'm Ankha.

In New Leaf, Ankha has visited my campsite at least five times…but my town has been full every single one of those times. Of course, that’s not a problem in New Horizons, with the ability to kick someone out. But you don’t control who leaves. Still, I thought I’d give it a try just to see… and Ankha told me that Hornsby was willing to go!

Ankha: You know, at Resident Services, they suggested that Hornsby might cooperate with my plan.

I like Hornsby, and he’s been my buddy since the GameCube game, schnozzle. 😉 But he’s been in ACNH Forest for almost three years (since April 2020), which is quite a long stay. Not to mention, I still have him in New Leaf too. So even though I don’t like forcing villagers out, this is a rare occurrence where all of my conditions lined up.

So I went to say goodbye to Hornsby. It’s been nice having you around, buddy! Good luck in your new town, wherever that may be!

Hornsby: And I'm gonna go have an adventure!

I’ll be back with another entry once Ankha moves in. Have a great day!

Flasklurb!

Yesterday, Celeste and Wisp were both in town, and there was a tent at the campsite as well. I spotted them all together!

Celeste and Wisp hanging out near the campsite, where a camper had erected a tent.

Celeste gave me five star fragments, Wisp eventually gave me an arched reception counter, and the camper turned out to be Amelia the eagle.

Amelia: Oh, thank you for stopping by. I don't believe we've met. I'm Amelia.

After shaking some trees, I got stung by a wasp. Many of my villagers commented on my face, and Ketchup was so surprised by my swollen face that she made up a new swear word! Sounds like something I would do. 😛

Ketchup: FLASKLURB?!

“Flasklurb” sounds like a unique word, but it’s not quite as unique as I initially thought. That’s because my other peppy villagers, Agent S and Rio, also said the same exact thing when they saw me!

Agent S: FLASKLURB?!; Rio: FLASKLURB?!

Only Punchy actually helped me out by giving me some medicine. Thanks, Punchy!

Punchy: No worries, though! Here, it'll heal right away with this medicine!

Today, I actually found a new D.I.Y. recipe I needed in a message bottle on the beach. It was for a golden meter and pipes. I don’t keep track of all my recipes, so I have no idea how many more I still need, though.

C.J. was in town, and I eventually found him on the vaulting pole course! He wanted me to catch three small-fry fish for his seasports challenge, so I caught three pond smelts and returned to him.

C.J.: ...Huh?! You caught 3 fish in a row?

He paid me just 1,800 bells for them, but I then went to grab some fish from storage. I only had five fish to sell him, but he gave me 47,700 bells for them all.

I then wished on a couple of shooting stars before wrapping up my game for the night.

Note: There may not be a 2nd blog entry this week. I’m not changing my blog schedule, this is just a one-time exception. So most likely, I’ll be back early next with the next blog entry. Sorry for any inconvenience.

Sleepy Saturday

This morning, I updated the dream version of my island for the first time in months. So now you can meet Punchy and test out my vaulting pole course if you’d like. (I left a vaulting pole and ladder near the start of the course, in the southeast corner of the island.)

Luna: Your dream of Forest is still filed under the Dream Address DA-6717-1633-3682.

Tonight, Hornsby was telling me how he’s been yawning all day. I was actually yawning and feeling tired too, so I could definitely relate. 😴

Hornsby: Yikes...I can't stop yawning today. Is it true that yawns are catchy? Do you feel sleepy?
Yes and yes.

So sleepy Hornsby and sleepy Jeff headed over to the plaza for K.K. Slider’s performance. I don’t know if K.K. knew we were tired, but he played K.K. Lullaby for us! Was he trying to put us to sleep? 😛

K.K.: Right on. I'm tuned up and ready to roll. Who's in the mood for a little K.K. Lullaby?

After the show, Rio noticed the aurora up in the sky, and she said they were like night rainbows.

Rio: I've been thinking... Aren't auroras basically night rainbows?

So I went to the top of the mountain to get a good look at the “night rainbow.” It’s a pretty sight, and it’s nice and peaceful up here.

Watching the northern lights over Forest.

Shortly after that, I wrapped up my night in Forest…and took a nap. Pleasant dreams!
