Kids Smock

On Monday, I noticed something interesting about the kids’ smock that was for sale at Able Sisters…

The kids' smock at Able Sisters.

Yes, it has a frog on it, and that’s cute. But more specifically, it has a wide, open area in the middle. That’s not the right shape for a frog’s mouth or the frog cap. I’m guessing it’s meant to be a name tag for kids…but to me, it looks like the town tune board.

The froggy town tune board.

Pretty interesting reference. And Animal Crossing games have been using frogs on town tune boards since the beginning. 🐸

Yesterday, I helped out Gulliver by digging up the parts of his communicator. Today, he rewarded me by sending me a Gala horse in the mail.

Label was in town tonight, and she wanted to see me in a formal outfit; that’s a pretty easy theme to nail. She gave me a rose-print jacket to use as an example, but I had something else in mind. I put on a vibrant tuxedo (a red one this time), a top hat, and some loafers. (I’ll need to buy a red top hat to match, although this one does have a red band and bow.)

Label said the look was perfect, and she rewarded me with some Labelle sneakers.

Label: And it all comes together in fashion perfection. Your taste is impeccable, Jeff.

I then started working on a small obstacle course for the little area just south of my castle. I’m trying some things out, but I haven’t decided on a final layout just yet. But I should have it done before I open my gate again…which may not be super soon.

That’s because I plan on opening my New Leaf gate next week (June 9th) for that game’s 10th anniversary. Hard to believe it’s been ten years since New Leaf came out. I’m glad New Leaf has had online play officially supported for ten years, though part of me is upset that City Folk didn’t have that same opportunity.

Anyway, I posted a new video today taking a look at 15 features that weren’t in New Horizons, but I hope return in the next game. You can check that out here if you’re interested.

See you next time!

Duck Playing in the Rain

Yesterday, Label was in town, and she wanted to see me in a vacation outfit. I always seem to struggle with this theme, but she gave me a peasant blouse to use as an example. I added some soccer shorts, a skateboarding helmet, and some moccasin boots. Label said I captured the vacation look, and she gave me some Labelle socks.

Label: Oh, wow! You've really captured the vacation look. Even the details are on point.

My bank account balance reached 58 million bells yesterday (May 26th).

Today, Label only sent me one tailors ticket in the mail, so I apparently didn’t do as well as I initially thought yesterday.

Anchovy was camping up at the campsite. I already have him in Wild World, so I don’t need him on my pizza. I mean, on my island. 😛

Anchovy, at the campsite: Do you camp? You gotta try it sometime. It's like being inside, except you're outside, chuurp!

When I walked into Marina’s house today, I didn’t find Midge. Instead, I found Punchy awkwardly standing directly behind Marina, for several seconds without moving. It was weird.

Punchy standing right behind Marina.
Is he sniffing her hair? Er…head? Bow?

Over in Sudden Valley, I saw Ketchup running around, having lots of fun playing in the rain when she didn’t know I was watching. It was just so cute. 😊

Later, I attended K.K. Slider’s Saturday night show at the plaza. He performed K.K. Dixie for me, Bones, Louie, and Midge.

K.K.: Right on. I'm tuned up and ready to roll. Who's in the mood for a little K.K. Dixie?

I then completed a few Nook Miles+ achievements, and I prepared my first tomato bagel sandwich before wrapping up my night.

Rainy Week

It was raining on Monday, so I decided to use a tailors ticket to buy a raincoat. I also ended up buying a matching wrestling mask. 😛

Mabel: Looking sharp! Thanks so much!

I later found Midge hanging out in Marina’s house (at the site of Midge’s former house) once again. She even said the house seemed so comfortable. Why do I get the feeling this feud is about to escalate, and I’m going to find a dead octopus buried on the beach one of these days? I hope I’m wrong. 😛

Midge: Her home is just so...comfortable! Maybe that's because I get along so well with Marina...

It’s been raining most of the week, and all the excess flower buds popping up are starting to drive me crazy. But I took advantage of one positive aspect of the rain last night: I caught a coelacanth.

Me, holding a coelacanth: Blast from the past!

Surprisingly, I’ve learned two new recipes this week! Static taught me how to make a tomato bagel sandwich on Monday, and Marina gave me a recipe for veggie cupcakes last night. I just haven’t bothered to make either of them yet. Oops.

YUM! Now I can make some veggie cupcakes!

Today, C.J. was in town, and he wanted me to catch three big-time fish. So I caught two black bass and a dace to complete the seasports challenge. Those fish didn’t sell for much of course, but C.J. paid me 22,500 just for my coelacanth alone. 🙂

C.J.: Way to wreck that seasports challenge! What a haul!

Here are a few other quick notes about this week:

  • On Sunday, I caught a man-faced stink bug for Static, and he gave me another copy of his photo.
  • Wisp gave me some hanging stage lights Sunday night, and a pink painted-wood wall tonight.
  • Gullivarrr was in town yesterday, and he sent me a pirate rug today.
