I Surprised Myself

Yesterday, I ran into Resetti in the Roost. He was a pleasure, as always. 🙄

Resetti, in the Roost: You again! You followin' me? You sellin' somethin'?
Nice to see you too.

Since I had a rare vacancy in town, I stopped into Resident Services and redeemed some Nook Miles for some Nook Miles Tickets. But unlike last time, I wasn’t loading up with ten of them. This time, I decided to use no more than five NMTs. And if I didn’t find anyone good, then so be it. I’d risk a random villager.

When I was ready, I headed to the airport and flew to the first mystery island. Sylvia the kangaroo was there.

Sylvia, on a mystery island: Yo! How's it going? Have we met? I'm Sylvia.

I don’t particularly care for her, so it was easy to pass on my first option. So I quickly bounced.

The 2nd mystery island had my old buddy Teddy!

Teddy, on a mystery island: Are you here for survival training too? My name's Teddy. What's yours?

I’ve been a fan of him since the early GameCube days, when he lived in my town for a while before hopping a train to another town. But did I want him in New Horizons? I wasn’t sure, so I thought about it as I banged the multitude of money rocks on the island.

Banging some money rocks on a mystery island.

As tempting as it was, I ultimately decided to pass on Teddy this time. But maybe in the future! I headed off to my 3rd mystery island, and I found Merengue the “strawberry shortcake” rhino. 🍰

Merengue, on a mystery island: I wasn't expecting to meet anyone on this tour! I'm Merengue.

Her horn appears to be an upside-down strawberry, and maybe it was making me hungry. I almost surprised myself when I decided to adopt her. She’s not a villager I normally would’ve thought about taking, but for some reason, it just seemed right. For a long time, Forest had a pink villager in Midge, Marina, and then Midge again. So I guess Merengue fills that role, haha. Or like I said, maybe I was just feeling hungry at the time. 😉 She is strangely appetizing. I mean, appealing. 😉

Today, she officially moved into town. Welcome to Forest, Merengue! 🙂

Merengue: Did you come by to check in on me? You're so sweet, Jeff.
Actually you’re the sweet one. 😋

Are you surprised I took Merengue? Let me know in the comments below!

Anyway, Flick was in town today, and I sold him 27 bugs for a total of 99,450 bells. 💰

Enjoy your weekend, everyone! I’ll see you next time! 🙂

Punch Out

Pascal recently wondered which came first, sea stars or actual stars. So he thought maybe we should be calling stars “sky fish” instead.

Pascal: They're called sea stars, but how do we know who came first? Maybe stars should be called sky fish.

Yesterday, Punchy told me that watching a movie made him want to go to new places (and move out of Forest).

Punchy: I was watching this movie all about going to new places...meeting new folks...and learning new stuff...

I thought about it for a bit, and I eventually decided to let him go. He has been here a year and a half, which is a decent amount of time for a random move-in. (In other words, he’s not a villager I hand-picked.)

Label was in town, and she wanted to see me in a sporty outfit. She gave me a muscle tank to use as an example, but I instead went with a baseball uniform, baseball cap, and cleats. Label loved the look, and she gave me a Labelle skirt.

Label: I am sooo impressed. Thank you for putting it together for me!

Today, Chadder the cheesy mouse was camping at the campsite for a 2nd time. (The first time was in 2022.) Why do I always get so many repeat campers? Anyway, I played a game with him…and lost.

Chadder, at the campsite: It's a heart!

Of course, I went to visit Punchy one last time before he was gone. Good luck on your move, Punchy! I’m sure we’ll meet again, in one game or another!

Punchy: And I'm gonna go have an adventure!

Here are a few other quick notes about the past week or so.

  • Last Wednesday, Bones gave me his photo again after I caught a stinkbug for him.
  • Last Thursday, I played a treasure hunt game with Static…and the prize was another copy of his photo too.
  • On Monday, Bones was sick with a cold. I gave him some medicine, and he gave me an energetic sweater.
  • I helped out Gullivarrr, and he sent me a pirate-treasure robe on Tuesday.
  • Bob started calling me “burrito” yesterday. 🌯

See you next time!

June’s Birthday

On Sunday, Bones asked me to deliver a gift to Static. That gift was a doublet, which Static put on right away. I’ve never seen Static looking so sharp!

Static tries on a doublet.

Static rewarded me with a chef’s outfit.

Over at the campsite, I found Charlise camping…again! This is the third time she’s camped here (all within the past year, too)! She’s my first three-time camper, and I hope there isn’t a 4th time. Enough already!

Charlise, at the campsite: Oh! Hope I'm not interrupting you or nothin'. I'm just out here campin'!

The Stamp Rally (for International Museum Day) is underway now, and I participated on Sunday. I visited all of the stations in each part of the museum to collect all of the stamps.

I collected all the bug stamps!

When I was done, Blathers gave me my rewards: a fish plaque, a bug plaque, a fossil plaque, and an art plaque. The event continues through May 31st, so you can participate every day if you want.

Blathers: To think you've enjoyed the Stamp Rally to such a degree! I can't help but puff my feathers with pride!

Yesterday, I helped out Gulliver by digging up his phone parts. He sent me a candy-skull mask in the mail today.

June’s birthday is today, so I wanted to craft her something tropical to match her house. I decided on a palm-tree lamp, customized with the tropical theme. When I attended her party, she was blown away by the gift. 😊

June: A palm-tree lamp!

Agent S was also there to help June celebrate, and I think we all had a great time. Happy birthday, June! 🙂

Me and Agent S help June celebrate her birthday in Animal Crossing: New Horizons.

C.J. was in town, so I completed his seasports challenge, and then grabbed some fish from storage to sell him. He paid me 54,000 bells for the six fish (4 red snappers, an oarfish, and a coelacanth).

I posted my latest New Horizons Moments video this past weekend. So please check it out if you haven’t seen it yet. 🙂

One other thing, as I recently mentioned on Twitter: The noon theme song has become one of my favorite hourly tunes in New Horizons. It wasn’t really on my radar until fairly recently.

Thanks for stopping by! I’ll see you all next time. 🙂
