MVP Bones

On Sunday, Margie the elephant was camping at the campsite! I wouldn’t mind having her around at some point, but I didn’t want to kick anyone out to get her.

Margie, at the campsite: This place is so mellow and laid-back that I can tell already I'm going to go home from here feeling restored.

Just outside the tent, I caught this paper kite butterfly. Of course, I know it’s a common bug, but I just really liked this screenshot for some reason. I don’t know if it’s the sunlight or the fact that I’m centered in front of the tent, but something in this picture just draws me in aesthetically.

I caught a paper kite butterfly!

On Monday, Pascal popped up to tell me that rocks are the oysters of the land. He then gave me a pearl (in exchange for my scallop), and swam off.

Pascal: Rocks are the oysters of the land.
And jellyfish are the pitfalls of the sea.
(New Leaf players will get this one.)

On Tuesday, I recorded my full gameplay session and uploaded it as a video. It had been over a year since I posted such a gameplay video of New Horizons. So here it is, if you’re interested:

Yesterday was Thanksgiving in the U.S., and that meant it was Turkey Day in New Horizons. Franklin the chef had tables set up in the plaza, and he asked me to help him gather ingredients for him.

Franklin, on Turkey Day: And no one knows feasting like turkeys, which is why they called in a professional, gobble gob.
You’re a professional gobble gob?

Louie was already eyeing Franklin in that pic. πŸ˜†

I gathered up the ingredients I needed, one dish at a time. My villagers also helped with secret ingredients to make the dishes even better.

Bones, wearing a chef hat: OK, have you ever had manure? Wait, uh...I mean men...y'air. I did it!

Okay, that was a bad example. But Bones actually did help me out a lot, giving me two of the secret ingredients I needed (a barred knifejaw and a Dungeness crab).

Bones: Hooray! Now my food'll get to be its yum-yum-yummiest self. Here, take my extra Dungeness crab.

With his help, I completed the event with all four dishes and all four special ingredients. I hope you all had a good Turkey Day, harvest festival, and/or Thanksgiving!

The complete Turkey Day feast.

Just for reference, here is the list of the four dishes, including the ingredients:

  • clam chowder: 3 manila clams (secret ingredient: scallop)
  • pumpkin pie: orange pumpkin, yellow pumpkin (secret ingredients: green pumpkin, white pumpkin)
  • gratin: round mushroom, potato (secret ingredient: Dungeness crab)
  • meuniΓ¨re: sea bass, dab (secret ingredient: barred knifejaw)

Today, Flick was in town…but I didn’t have much to sell him. Just two wasps and a paper kite butterfly, in fact. πŸ˜† He gave me a whopping 9,000 bells for them all. Ooh, I’m rich now! πŸ˜‰

I helped out Wisp twice this week. He gave me some terra-cotta flooring on Sunday night, and a popcorn snack set on Wednesday.

Enjoy your weekend, everyone! I’ll see you next week.

You Ape

On Tuesday, Agent S told me that she saw Rio watching her practice her dance moves.

Agent S: I TOTES saw Rio watching me practice dance moves!

Agent S wondered if Rio is her first fan! No, Agent S, I’ve been a fan of yours for years!

Agent S: You think maybe she's my first fan?

On Thursday, Louie asked me for a new catchphrase to replace “oh banana.” I haven’t been changing many catchphrases lately, and they’ve all been getting a bit stale (like an old banana). πŸ˜› So I told Louie to say “you ape” instead. Now he seems angry and hostile all the time. πŸ˜†

Louie: Need something, you ape?

Last night, I happened to notice Bob spritzing my evergreen ash tree with a water bottle. I haven’t seen anyone interact with this tree before, so it caught me by surprise. But it’s certainly a cute detail. πŸ™‚

Tonight, K.K. Slider was in town for his usual Saturday night show. I asked him for a random song, and he performed K.K. Western for me, Rio, and Merengue.

K.K. Slider prepares to perform in the plaza.

Here are a few other quick notes about this past week:

  • On Monday, I returned a lost book to Merengue. She rewarded me with an open track jacket.
  • I helped out Gulliver, and he sent me a tam-o’-shanter on Tuesday.
  • Thursday, I sold 5 bugs (4 wasps and a tarantula) to Flick for 27,000 bells.
  • I returned a lost book to Bones, and he gave me an explorer’s hat.
  • Louie was sick tonight, so I crafted him some medicine. He gave me a paisley bandanna as thanks. (Oh, bandanna!)

I’ll see you next time.

Plantina

Last Sunday, Ankha told me she likes watering plants as part of her daily routine. She even likes to give the plants names…like Plantina!

Ankha: Maybe it's my maternal instinct? I even give them secret little names. Plantina is my favorite.

That reminded me of something from earlier in the series… And if you’ve played much of Animal Crossing: Wild World, you probably know what I’m talking about: Moppina! It’s the name that normal villagers will occasionally give to their mop, who is also their best friend. πŸ˜†

Two days later, I had another interesting chat with Ankha…in almost the same spot. She told me that my clothes a bit low-key! I found that hard to believe, considering I was wearing a gold suit of armor!

Ankha: Your gold armor is fabulous, but isn't it a tad low-key for you?

She tried to help out by giving me a cavalier hat. It has a feather sticking out of it, but that’s actually two fewer than my suit of armor. πŸ˜†

My old New Leaf neighbor Kidd was hanging out at the campsite for the 2nd time. He said 100% of “Kidds” would rate the campground highly. πŸ˜›

Kidd, at the campsite: So far, I like what I'm seeing. 100 percent of Kidds would rate this campground highly.

Last night, Bob and Bones were enjoying some drinks at the plaza. Louie was also there, but he was hard at work exercising. It was quite a contrast from the lazy bros. πŸ˜›

Bob and Bones enjoy a drink, while Louie is hard at work.

Over at the campsite, I had another repeat camper. This time, it was Phoebe the red ostrich. She looks like she could be Rio’s sister!

Phoebe, at the campsite: Hey, thanks for stoppin' by. So...is everyone here, like, SUPER friendly?

As of today, maple leaves are now falling from the sky. And of course, you can catch them (well, some of them) and use them as a crafting material.

This maple leaf is such a pretty red. It's like the exact color of fall!

At the museum, I scared Blathers by sneaking up behind him in a suit of armor. Okay, not really…I just woke him up and wanted an excuse to show this screenshot. πŸ˜†

Blathers: Hooooo... WHO?!

Here are a few other quick notes about the past week:

  • On Monday, I returned a lost book to Louie. He rewarded me with a mesh cap.
  • I helped Gullivarrr yesterday, and he sent me a pirate outfit today.
  • K.K. Slider performed “My Place” for me tonight. Sadly, no other villagers joined me for the show.

Never Stop Crossing!
