Room Sketch App

On Sunday, I received my letter from Katrina with my newly purchased lucky item. Unfortunately, it was another gold turtle figurine, and not one of the other lucky items. I’ll have to hope for more bad luck in the future to get the other items. 😆

When I went out to Lottie’s island on Monday, Niko told me that Lottie wanted to see me for something. I had no idea what this was about, so I went into the office. She told me to pull out my phone, because she had a new app to send me!

Lottie: Can you pull out your phone so I can send an app to you?

It’s an app called “Room Sketch,” and it’s used to create room layouts. You can experiment with design ideas, and use them when you create a vacation home for a client.

Room sketches created in this app can also be used later when decorating a client's vacation home, making it a great tool for testing your designs!

Of course, designing rooms isn’t exactly my favorite thing. So I just made this masterpiece of a room and then saved and quit the app. 😛

A mostly empty room with just two froggy chairs in it.

On Tuesday, I listened in on a conversation between Bob and June. Bob asked June for a book recommendation…

Bob: Heeeey, June? Can you suggest me a book?

June’s reply was just savage. 😆

June: Oh! You read, Bob? That's rather surprising.

She recommended Be the “Y” in DIY and Gyroids 2.0. But then Bob asked which book had more pictures. June said neither, so Bob said he wanted to watch the movie versions instead of reading. I guess June was right about him after all. 😛

Bob: OK... Which one got turned into the bester movie? I can snack while I watch!

When I visited Ketchup, I saw that my other short peppy villager (Agent S, of course) was there too. Ketchup even acknowledged that Agent S was visiting… So when Ketchup said this, I was a bit confused…

Ketchup: That's why I like hanging out with my anchovy here...

I legitimately thought Ketchup was calling Agent S her “anchovy” as a pet name! But it turns out that she was talking about her actual anchovy, the fish. 😆

On Wednesday, I went diving and caught a scallop. Pascal popped up and started talking about ice cream.

Pascal: You gotta be careful what you wish for in life. Unless you wish for ice cream. That's pretty safe.

This is not his only quote about ice cream, either. He also had this one…as well as an octopus one that mentions ice cream cones. I think the dude likes ice cream. 🍦

Gulliver was in town, so I helped him out. The next day, he sent me another candy-skull mask.

Tonight, I found another scallop and got some more words of wisdom from Pascal. This time, he was talking about the expression “hold your horses.”

Pascal: When someone tells you to hold your horses, you tell them no. Maaan, they're way too heavy!
Whoa, you’re right.

Flick was buzzing around town tonight, so I sold him 14 bugs (mostly dung beetles and Rajah Brooke’s birdwings) for a total of 56,700 bells.

Enjoy your weekend, and I’ll be back with more next week!

Bluebear is Green?

Yesterday was Valentine’s Day, and I received valentine letters in the mail from all of my islanders (and one from Isabelle, too).

Breaking news, boss! Did you know feeling can actually make chocolate taste better? It's science. Chocolaty science. Which is the best kind of science! That's why I packed these chocolates all fulla my happiness. 'Cause flavor! I wore a lab coat! -Bob

After reading them all, I found a bunch of chocolate hearts and heart-shaped bouquets in my pockets.

I also went to the Roost for the other sweet Valentine’s Day treat: Hot chocolate! Brewster has served cocoa instead of coffee for this occasion, starting with City Folk. Mmm!

Me, after drinking some hot chocolate at the Roost: Aww...it's so sweet.

Bluebear was camping at the campsite, and she’s cute. I did not ask her to move in, though.

Bluebear: Hey! It's nice to meet you! I'm Bluebear! You live on this island, right?

But something struck me seeing her in New Horizons. I know I’m colorblind, but despite her name, she looks green to me! It looks like her fur is sea green, or a similar shade. I didn’t think she looked this green in the older games, but in ACNH, that absolutely looks like a shade of green to my eyes. 👀

So I opened that screenshot in an image-editing program and got out the eyedropper tool. You know how it’ll show how much red, green, and blue are in a particular pixel? Of course the numbers vary depending on which spot you choose, but I noticed something consistent. No matter where I put the cursor on her fur, it’s showing more green than blue!

It’s not just my colorblindness! Bluebear is green! Yes, it’s technically a shade in between blue and green, but it’s closer to green! Check your favorite image editing program for yourself if you don’t believe me. 😛

Tonight, I had a chat with Ankha in the plaza. She told me some things about her tomb that seem hard to believe… 😛

Ankha: You know, in my tomb, everyone is always accessorizing with umbrellas when it rains...

While I was at the plaza, I asked K.K. Slider to play a random song. He performed Surfin’ K.K. for me, Ankha, and Louie. It doesn’t exactly feel like surfing weather right now, but I guess we can imagine that it’s summer. 😛

After the concert ended, I went out to Harv’s island. I asked Katrina to tell my fortune, and she saw an island where residents prefer to live in tents instead of houses!

Katrina: I see an island...whose residents prefer living in tents to owning their own homes...

According to her, this meant that I was going to have bad luck with money. But of course, she had a remedy for me. I just needed to pay 10,000 bells for it…and I did. She will send me my lucky charm in the mail next time.

I also had a chat with Leif, as I was curious about his weeding service. I didn’t have enough weeds on my island to purchase his services, but he did tell me what his fee is: A whopping 100,000 bells! Yikes!

Leif: But if they get out of control, I'll pull them up for 100,000 bells for one time. So pay me a visit then!
Well, let’s hope it doesn’t come to that.

Have any of you ever used this service? Do you think it was worth the money? Let me know in the comments!

Here a few other quick notes about this week:

  • Agent S was sick on Monday, so I gave her some medicine. In return she gave me an apron.
  • I helped out Gullivarrr on Wednesday, and he sent me a pirate-treasure robe.
  • Today, I returned a lost item to Bones. He rewarded me with a pacifier! Is he calling me a baby?

Just a heads-up that I finally posted my New Horizons Art Guide. I know it’s long overdue, but it’s here now…complete with a pun about every work of art. I hope you’ll check it out! Here’s a sample:

Academic painting: Real or fake, with a pun.

See you next time! Never Stop Crossing!

Iggly’s Vacation Home

On Monday, I found Opal the green elephant camping at the campsite. I like Opal, but not to the point that I would kick someone out for her. We’ll probably meet again someday, though.

Opal, at the campsite: To be honest, darling, I wouldn't have thought camping like this would suit me.

Later on, I spotted the northern lights up in the sky. I stood near a dying snowboy and watched the pretty lights for a few minutes.

Watching the northern lights in Forest.
Too bad the snowboy was facing the wrong way. He missed the show.

When I visited Ankha, she told me she had a deep attachment to her pyramid. You don’t say. 😛

Ankha: There's a story, of course, but suffice to say I have a deep attachment to my pyramid.
Could it be “deep” because it’s also her tomb? 😉

Today, I went out to Lottie’s Island to work a shift at Paradise Planning. Iggly wanted a place to ice down after a hot workout.

Iggly: That outfit... That confidence... You must be that one super-skilled designer from Paradise Planning!

So I put him on a floating sheet of ice near the northeast corner of the map. I added some workout equipment out here on the ice, so he can work as hard as he wants, and never break a sweat!

Iggly's ice sheet home.

Indoors, I used some of his required furniture and gave him an iceberg wall and some iceberg flooring. I also added a few pieces of frozen furniture. This would be a great place for him to just chill!

He enjoyed the house, and Lottie paid me 22,000 Poki for my work. But she then told me that Wardell went out to stare at ocean. I headed to the beach, but I found Wardell in the ocean instead.

Wardell swimming in the ocean.

Once he came out of the water, he asked me if I’ve met new sounds. Apparently, he unlocked some new soundscapes for me to use in future homes. I’ll be sure to forget about them by the next time I design a house. 😛

Anyway, I went to the hospital and donated 30,000 Poki for the expansion. But I still need to donate 19,000 more Poki to complete it. It’ll happen. Someday.

Here are a few other quick notes about this week:

  • On Thursday, I sold 30 fish to C.J. for 341,250 bells.
  • Yesterday, I sold seven bugs to Flick for exactly 33,000 bells.
  • I returned a lost comic book to Rio, and she rewarded me with a clean-room suit.
  • Tonight, I told K.K. I was feeling blue, and he played K.K. Western for me and Ketchup.

Enjoy the rest of your weekend!
