Pond Smelt

When I put up the new photos of Bones and Rizzo the other night, I earned 3,000 Nook Miles for the “Hoard Reward” achievement. I’ve now topped 100 furniture items in my house. The next and final reward comes at 150 items, which seems insane! I guess I’ll need to hang up more wall items, because most of my rooms don’t have a lot of floor space available.

Today’s toy at Nook’s Cranny was a dinosaur toy. I bought a few to give to my villagers as gifts.

Tommy: Seems like you're interested in a dinosaur toy.

At Able Sisters, I bought a blue Terry-cloth nightcap. It looks like a Santa cap, so I thought it would be fitting for December.

When I visited Apple, she was dreaming of talking to a beetle while on a spaceship. Apple may be a bit weird, but she’s cute. ๐Ÿ˜‰

Apple: Mnn...hey there, Mr. Beetle...zzz... what are you doing...zzz...on this spaceship...wah? Huh?

I did some fishing, and I caught my first pond smelt. It’s new for December (at least in the northern hemisphere). I took the smelly thing over to Blathers at the museum.

I caught a pond smelt! Whoever smelt it dealt it!

I know that some of you have now finished your fish collections, so congrats! Personally, I still need 13 fish! ๐Ÿ˜ฎ I bet I’m missing some fish that appear earlier in the day, since I mostly play in the evening and at night.

There are some new seasonal items available for December through the Nook Stop. Don’t forget to order an aurora wall and midwinter sweater!

Aurora wall for sale at the Nook Stop.

Flick was in town, so I sold him three wasps, an emperor butterfly, a tarantula, and a scorpion for a total of 41,250 bells.

Later on, I went diving. I caught my first lobster, spiny lobster, and red king crab…all within a three-minute span!

I got a lobster! Lobjective complete.

I only need three more sea creatures now.

I’m afraid there’s not going to be a Friday Night Forest this week. But I’m going to try to have one next week (on December 11th).

Have a great day, and I’ll see you all next time!

  1. well… i am a southern hemisphere player. have you caught the pike and the stringfish yet? oh and because im a southern hemisphere, im at summer with sharks. do you miss them? i got 36 000 bells from nooks after my fish hunt, and donated them to the museum. its also the “air” from arapaima, and Dorado means gold.

    1. I’ve caught the pike (many times), but not the stringfish. Yes, I definitely miss the sharks, but I still catch plenty of sturgeons so that helps.

  2. Thanks for the nice words about me finishing my fish collection, Jeff! I’m planning on finishing my bug collection too later this month!

    1. No problem! Good luck with the bugs! Even though I don’t need many bugs still, I know I’ll have to wait until next summer because I missed that giraffe one. ๐Ÿ˜›

  3. A few days ago I caught my first New Horizons Pond Smelt. I am currently missing 1 fish and 1 bug. I am missing Barreleye and I am missing Dung Beetle.

    1. The dung beetle starts appearing on December 11th, or whichever day snow sets for you. The barreleye also appears all year at 9pm-4am in the ocean and is about the size of a horse mackerel if that helps.

As for if youโ€™re in the southern hemisphere, the dung beetle will appear on June 11th. Good luck on completing your collections! I do hope you complete it this month ๐Ÿ™‚
