Vines

Today, I was able to harvest my tomatoes and wheat. The wheat could then be crafted into flour, so my selection of ingredients is finally starting to grow. I whipped up a few dishes, including carrot potage, tomato curry, and tomato puree.

Look what I made... some tomato puree!

Julian the unicorn was camping at the campsite. I like him, but I wasn’t about to force anybody out for him.

Julian: Ha HA! Got you. I'm not THAT fancy-pantsy. My name actually is Julian, though.

Redd was in town, along with his ship. I purchased a scenic painting, and I’m pretty sure it’s the real deal. So I should be donating it to the museum after it arrives in the mail tomorrow.

Speaking of the museum, I headed there tonight to buy my first coffee to go! It cost 300 bells, which is more expensive than the regular coffee, but I think I can afford it. 😉

Brewster: If you're after a coffee to go, I'll fix you one up for 300 bells...

Out at Harvey’s island, I saw that Redd was not standing at his RV (since he’s in Forest, of course). I fully paid off Katrina’s stand, and I made sure to check in with Harvey and Kicks.

Harvey: Now, I've never been a cool cat--in fact, I'm a dog! But even ol' Harv can tell that Kicks's shoes are neato!

I took Kapp’n’s boat to a mysterious island, and I’ve finally landed on the very special vine island!

Vines and glowing moss on a vine island.

I swiped a bunch of vines, and some glowing moss too. On the beach, I found a special message bottle: It came on some really cool sunset (or is it sunrise?) stationery, and it gave me a recipe for a vine crown.

My dear anonymous reader, I can NOT stop thinking about this furniture I saw in a dream! So, I have turned it into a DIY recipe. I am compelled to share my recipe, so I have stuffed it in this bottle. May it inspire you to action. Faraway wishes, -Baabara
(Please stay far away, Baabara.)

I’ll need to decide which part(s) of town would look good with the glowing moss. The vines may look good up in Donkey Kong Country.

See you all next time!

Saharah’s Shop

Yesterday, Timo sent me a stage flame machine in the mail, and it’s 🔥🔥🔥. Thanks, Timo!

Look! I dug up a dootoid!

I also received a letter from Nook Inc., thanking me for helping residents participate in group stretching. They sent me a Nook Inc. leotard…even though I’ll never wear it. 😛

Wisp was in town last night, and I collected his spirits and returned them. In exchange, he gave me a safety barrier.

At the Roost, I got some coffee and Brewster gave me the option to drink it hot or let it cool. I didn’t have this option on Saturday…but I still drank it hot.

Brewster: It's best to drink it fresh, before it cools...

On Harv’s island, Reese and Cyrus’ customization shop was now opened for business. I didn’t have him customize anything for me yet, but it’s good to keep making progress with the shops here.

Cyrus: Now, as my lovely Reese mentioned, I can customize darn near anything. Just bring it in, and I'll have a look!

After that, I funded Saharah’s shop.

The mysterious island for the day was a bamboo island.

As I started up the game today (Monday), Isabelle told me that C.J. was in town! This is a new feature, and it’s quite helpful. But it’s actually a new step for the series, since previous games didn’t do this for normal, recurring visitors.

Isabelle: Oh! I just heard that C.J. is visiting Forest today.

Eloise pinged me and ask if I’d like to visit her house right away, and I said yes.

Eloise: Well then, what are we waiting for? Let's be off!

But unlike in New Leaf, I didn’t have to lead the way to her house; we just automatically appeared there. She eventually asked to play a card game, and I lost. After a minute or so, I got tired of hanging around. As I walked out the door, she gave me a gift (a copy of K.K. Soul).

My first batch of carrots sprouted today, so I now have a few veggies for cooking.

Saharah’s shop opened on Harv’s island today. I was very pleased to see that you can actually see what you’re buying from her! No more blind purchases!

Saharah: I have also mysterious flooring and wallpaper. Oh, how surprising you will find it! Are you ready to buy?

Leif had some potato seeds (actually called seed potatoes), so I bought a few of them…and later planted them in town.

Redd’s inventory changed (perhaps because a new week has started), but I didn’t need his new works of art. I then funded Kicks’ shop, so that should be open tomorrow. After that, all I’ll need is Katrina!

Today’s mysterious island was set in springtime, so I had the opportunity to catch some cherry blossom petals…even though I didn’t bother. 😛 But another unusual thing about the island is that it only had nine weeds! Usually these islands have a bunch!

After drinking another hot cup of coffee at the Roost today, Brewster told me that I’ll be able to order coffee to-go starting tomorrow! ☕

Brewster: Starting tomorrow, you're welcome to come around...and order at the counter to the right...

That’s all for today, but I’ll be back again soon. See ya next time!

The Roost Opens

Today was opening day of the cafe in the museum, better known as The Roost. I attended the completion ceremony this morning.

The completion ceremony for the Roost.

I bought myself a hot cup of coffee, and then I used the amiibo phone to call Booker. He came to the Roost, and he also brought his partner Copper. They were surprised when they realized they came all this way and the Roost doesn’t even sell donuts. 😉

Booker and Copper are shocked in the Roost.

Since it rained yesterday, I’ve now started to find random gyroids buried underground. My newest ones are a twangoid, wallopoid, and arfoid.

My six gyroids.

K.K. Slider was in town, and he played a new song (K.K. Polka) for me, Tia, Marina, and Louie.

Apollo was in his house cooking tonight, and he taught me a cooking recipe for pickled veggies.

On Harv’s Island, Cornimer was again standing in for Tortimer. Redd unfortunately had the same items that he had yesterday. I was thinking his one-item-per-day limit meant that his stock was going to change every day…but it’s not looking that way now.

Leif opened up his stand, and as expected, he sells produce starts. Today, he had tomato starts and wheat starts, so I bought five of each.

I noticed that the Kicks stand already has 2,200 bells in donations (which I didn’t make). So apparently villagers can make small donations. But I put my money towards the Reese & Cyrus stand; it should open tomorrow.

At 9:30 tonight, I opened my gate for the first time in months. Bran, MaryAnn, Logan, Nami, Mike, Xavier, and Samzyy came over. Note: This was Mike’s first time in Forest, but I played with him in ACCF and New Leaf in the past. If you’re a long-time Youtube viewer, you may remember him from my final ACCF Wi-Fi Moments video.

We headed over to the plaza, and at first, I thought we couldn’t do aerobics because K.K. Slider was here. That turned out not to be the case, but there was another issue instead:

Group stretching will have to wait. Not everyone who is visiting is a Best Friend.

You can only do group stretching if all of your visitors are registered as best friends. The obvious question is: Why? It’s not like stretching is anything like using a shovel or axe in someone’s town; they’re not going to hurt anything by stretching? So I had to go through my list and add everyone as best friends, just so we could stretch for a minute. So the set-up is more complicated than it should be, but we did eventually get to participate. 🙂

Eight of us doing group stretching (aerobics) in Animal Crossing: New Horizons.

After that, we tried to enjoy a performance from K.K. Slider. But as it was about to begin, Samzyy disconnected. We tried again, and K.K. performed K.K. Break for us. We discovered that we can now clap during the shows! That’s a nice new feature that was quietly added in the update!

Clapping during K.K.'s show.

William then joined in, and we headed up to the Roost for some coffee. While it’s simple enough to buy a cup of coffee for yourself, it’s a bit complicated to get coffee for everyone. Everyone in town has to be in the Roost for it to work, and everyone needs to be seated when one person goes to purchase the coffee, and then that person gets up and has to sit down again for the dialogue to commence. But I paid 1,600 bells and we all drank.

Enjoying eight cups of coffee at the Roost.

After a bit, we went over to Apollo’s house, where he was still cooking. Xavier and Logan had to leave, and then Timo came over and Samzyy returned. We went over to Nook’s Cranny, and we hula danced to the Nooklings’ “closing soon” song. 😛

I took everyone to meet my two newest neighbors, Marina and Static. Around 11:30, we did some group stretching again for the visitors that weren’t around the first time. After that, Nami, William, Bran, and Samzyy left for the night. Locuras came over, and we all danced to the song of the gyroids in my house. 😛

Dancing in my gyroid room.

We then went up to the Roost. Yann left shortly after midnight, and Xavier came back. We all drank wayyyyyy too much coffee, and I ended the session at 12:30. Thanks to everyone who came! It was fun! 🙂
