Squigged Out

Turnip prices never went any higher than Thursday’s 132 price, so I ended up selling my last few turnips at a loss (just 60 bells today). But I still made a profit overall for the week.

When I visited Agent S, she asked me for some fishing tips. She said she gets “squigged out” by fish bait, so she tries singing to the fish instead. And as you might expect, that does not work.

Agent S: I'm squigged out by fish bait, so I stand by the river and sing... but the fish always swim away.

Louie was in his house, sleeping standing up, while holding a duster. He was at least half-asleep when he asked me if I won “Best Pudding” at the awards ceremony.

Louie: J-bug! How'd the award ceremony go? Did you win Best Pudding?
Not yet, but how about I make some banana pudding?

I attended K.K. Slider’s Saturday night show, and I asked for a random song. He played Soulful K.K., which starts out sounding exactly like “Lean On Me.”

K.K.: Right on. I'm tuned up and ready to roll. Who's in the mood for a little Soulful K.K.?

I spoke with Tybalt after the show, and he told me that he’s never eaten pizza before! 😮 Somebody needs to get that boy a slice!

Tybalt: I've never had pizza before...but you're getting me pumped to try it, it's scary!

There was a meteor shower underway tonight, so I wished on several shooting stars. This picture was taken by a new fence I put up near Frog Pond. I’m not sure if I’ll keep the fence or not, but I kind of like the way it looks. In fact, the spooky fence might be my favorite fencing in the game.

I’ll be back with another tomorrow for Valentine’s Day. See you then!

Lunar New Year

As I started up the game today, Isabelle informed me that today is the start of the lunar new year. She wished everyone good fortune and happiness.

Isabelle: Hello, everyone! Today is the start of the Lunar New Year! I wish you all good fortune and happiness.

I checked the Nook Shopping app to see if there were any new seasonal items for the occasion, and indeed, there are. They include a lucky red envelope, a Lunar New Year decoration, and a Bokjumeoni lucky pouch. Order them while you can!

But it’s clearly not a major holiday in the game. Each villager will mention it the first time you talk to them, but that’s about all there is to it.

Tybalt: HAPPY LUNAR NEW YEAR!

I received my latest reward from Gullivarrr in the mail today, and it was a pirate-treasure crown. I guess it’s nice to have a crown that doesn’t cost a million bells. 👑

I was playing earlier in the day than usual, so I decided to do some fishing. It paid off, because I caught my first pale chub, and also, my first ranchu goldfish!

I caught a ranchu goldfish! But I prefer balsamicu golffish!
I didn’t get this at first, but it’s apparently a salad dressing pun. 🥗

I donated them both to the museum, and I still need eight more fish.

Saharah was in town today, and I bought a colorful vinyl sheet, summit wall, red argyle rug, and parking flooring from her.

Outside of town hall, I used my camera app to take a photo of Agent S, Bones, and Tia. The big frown on Bones’s face made me laugh.

See you all tomorrow! Have a Happy Lunar New Year. 😛

Buff Baby

Fuchsia the deer was camping at the campsite today. For a moment, I was thinking she was a snooty villager and I was contemplating asking her to move in (dependent on who she would be replacing). But I looked her up and saw that she’s a sisterly/uchi villager, so I didn’t bother.

Fuchsia: I wanna tell you that it's seriously rad here. I don't know what I was expecting, but I'm blown away.

Gullivarrr was washed up on the beach, so I went diving for his communicator. I found it on my 4th dive. He will be sending my reward in the mail tomorrow.

Timmy and Tommy were buying turnips for 132 bells apiece. That’s not a huge amount, and the price still seems to be trending upwards. But on the other hand, it is getting late in the week and I didn’t want to risk taking a loss. So I sold 1,100 of my 1,400 turnips for 145,200 bells. That’s more than I paid for all my turnips on Sunday, so I’m now guaranteed a profit no matter what. And if the price jumps more tomorrow, I’ll at least have 300 to sell at that price.

For the second time in two weeks, Rizzo wanted to buy an ant from me. This time, he offered me 160 bells for it…and of course, I agreed to the deal. I don’t catch ants for money anyway, I just catch them to boost my bug-catching total. Leaving that rotten turnip near my house helps a lot; there seem to be ants there almost every time I walk by!

Rizzo: I'm a rat, I owe you big time.

My villagers continued to talk about Festivale, which is coming up on Monday. Louie asked if I’ve been training for the event, saying that dancing is like if cardio and music had a buff baby. That’s a very weird way of looking at it, but still, I do get his point. 😛

Louie: I hope so, for your sake. Dancing is no joke. It's like if cardio and music had a buff baby. Think about it.

There may not be a blog entry tomorrow (unless something major happens, like Rizzo moving out). And as a reminder, there’s no Friday Night Forest this week. But I will be back on Saturday with another entry. Hope to see you then!
