Holiday Party

Happy New Year, everyone! Now through January 15th, there are seven new seasonal items available through Nook Shopping; that’s more than you can order in a day! The highlight is the 2021 celebratory arch.

The order screen for the New Year's seasonal items, including the 2021 celebratory arch.

The zodiac ox figurine may also be noteworthy to New Leaf players, because it was a free gift given out in New Leaf just today!

In the mail, I received several glasses of sparkling cider that I ordered last night. I also got a letter from my latest Snowboy, who sent me a three-tiered snowperson.

I then made my final preparations for tonight’s holiday party, including building a bartender! 😉 That earned me 1,000 Nook Miles for making my 20th quality snowperson.

My bartender snowboy.

I wrapped up seven gifts to give to my visitors tonight: a monster statue, a streetlamp, a lighthouse, a teacup ride, 30 gold nuggets, a public bench, and a bag of 99k bells. They were all wrapped the same, and each visitor could take one when they arrive.

I was happy to see that Crazy Redd showed up today. I was pretty sure that three of his works of art were fakes, and the other one was something I hadn’t seen before: a mysterious painting, which I bought. Even though I’ve heard Redd can have four fakes occasionally, I like my odds when I know the other three are forgeries.

At 10:00, I opened my gate for my holiday party (and the first Friday Night Forest of 2021). Logan, Timo, Alex from Pawnee, and Alex from A-Nation showed up. While Timo disappeared, I showed the others my new winter area.

I suggested we should look for Timo, but I found her almost immediately. She was drawing something on the bulletin board. I laughed when I saw what it said.

Timo's art: Ya ha ha! You found me!

We then beat up Rizzo, fell into holes, and burned some sparklers by my 2021 sign.

Using some sparklers.

After Logan pooped on my pillar and got his tongue stuck on a frozen pole, William came over. We fell into holes again.

Six players falling into holes.

After that, we played an ice sumo tournament. Alex from A-Nation won the tournament, and we finished off the sumo ring with a 6-player battle of sumo. Alex from Pawnee won that one. I actually got 2nd place in the 6-player round, which shocked me. 😛 I’m normally one of the first out, haha. But congrats to both Alexes. Since I had two unclaimed gifts left over (since town didn’t fill up), both Alexes got a 2nd present as sumo prizes.

Logan disconnected, and the rest of us went back to the private beach. We had some fun with ocean sunfish, we did a little diving, and I started releasing fish and sea creatures over Redd’s ship! It was pretty cool. 🙂

William left about 11:30. Some of us did some fishing, and Timo surprised us by telling us that she just completed her fish collection! It was doubly shocking: For one thing, Timo spoke! 😛 She generally doesn’t say anything, so that alone was a surprise. But for someone who does as much fishing as Timo, I just assumed she would have already completed her collection. Well, congrats Timo!

I released some more fish over Redd’s ship, and then I ended the session about 11:45. Thanks to everyone who came, it was fun! And Happy New Year, everyone! I’ll be back with another entry tomorrow. 🙂

New Year’s Eve

Yesterday, Reneigh was at the campsite!

Reneigh: Hey, thanks for stoppin' by. So...is everyone here, like, SUPER friendly?

I thought I’d let her move in, but only if Rizzo was the villager she’d be replacing. When she went to town hall though, Tia was again the suggested villager to replace, and I was not going to kick Tia out like that.

Also, I noticed that winter campers still use a tent…not an igloo like in New Leaf. I was looking forward to seeing igloos in winter, so that’s disappointing.

Here are a few other quick notes about yesterday:

  • Tuesday’s snowboy sent me a frozen arch in the mail.
  • I made another perfect snowboy.
  • I bought a garbage pail and used it to throw away dozens of black roses and orange windflowers.
  • Flick was in town, so I sold him 97,500 bells worth of bugs.

Today, I received a frozen sculpture in the mail from my latest snowboy.

I headed over to the plaza, where Tom Nook and Isabelle were both outside for the event! Town hall was completely closed today, so I couldn’t even go in to use the Nook Stop. Tom Nook gave me some party poppers, and he was also selling New Year’s hats and (more) party poppers. I bought a hat of each of the four colors available. Isabelle also gave me a light stick.

After doing some shopping on my NookPhone, I earned 3,000 Nook Miles for ordering my 200th item.

In the final hour before midnight, villagers started coming to the plaza. And at 12:00, we welcomed in 2021! Happy new year, everyone!

Happy New Year!

UPDATE: Here is the video of my New Year’s Eve in Forest:

At 12:30, I went over to Logan’s town Moonscar. Since he’s an hour behind me, I got to see the New Year’s event a second time. Timo, Nicky, Jesse, and Jj were also there.

The New Year's celebration in Moonscar.

I bought a green New Year’s hat from Moonscar’s Tom Nook, because he had different colors than mine.

We also went up to his Polar Peak to watch some fireworks.

After Logan ended the session, I returned to Forest and shot down a balloon present. I finally got the recipe for the illuminated tree! After nearly five minute of tree-shaking, I had enough ornaments to make one.

I posted the latest New Horizons Moments video today:

I hope you all have a Happy New Year! I’ll be hosting my Friday Night Forest/holiday party tonight, so I’ll be back with another entry late Friday night/early Saturday morning. See you later! 🙂

Snow Mail

I received my reward from the Snowboy in the mail today, and it was an ice flooring…something that I already have the recipe for. So apparently once you know all the recipes, he will just send you a piece of the frozen set. If you’re wondering, it sells for 8,200 bells at Nook’s Cranny. So that’s close to the 8,888 bells paid for snowman stuff in earlier games.

I made another perfect snowboy today, and he also said he’ll send my reward in the mail. The bad thing about this is that they no longer give you a large snowflake on the day that you make them. (But perfect snowboys from previous days will still give you large snowflakes.)

When I visited Tybalt, he told me he had a piping hot protein shake for me. Correct me if I’m wrong, but I don’t think protein shakes are supposed to be piping hot?

Tybalt: I got a piping-hot protein shake here just for you, it's scary!

Hornsby asked me to play a treasure hunt game, and he only gave me three minutes to find the buried item. However, that was plenty of time, because it didn’t even take me 45 seconds to find it!

I found treasure!

Pay no attention to that hideous outfit of mine. I was trying to please Label again, but I keep failing miserably. But anyway, the treasure item was a lettered cap.

Wisp was in town, and I caught all of his spirits for him. In return, he gave me a monochromatic dotted wall. That’s a mouthful.

Wisp: Here, have... a monochromatic dotted wall!

I crafted some frozen furniture, and I made some changes to Candy Cane Lane in preparation for Friday night. We’ll have a new, (hopefully pretty), wintry spot where we can fall into holes. 😛

There may not be a blog entry on Wednesday (unless something particularly significant happens), but I will be back on New Year’s Eve with another entry. But technically, it will be late, probably well after midnight. So if you don’t hear from me before then, have a happy and safe New Year’s Eve, everyone!

Keaton: Do you realize that the year 2020 is almost over, DJ JEF? On a cliff, it's been wild!
You aren’t kiddin’, Keaton!
