Scaring Midge

I received a letter from Gulliver in the mail, and he sent me a geisha wig for helping him out yesterday. I would say that’s disappointing, but I’ve reached the point where I wasn’t expecting anything good from him anyway, so I’m not all that surprised. 😛

Leif was in town, and I bought some rose seeds from him. Rose seeds are very rare in Forest, so I was glad they finally showed up. I want to start breeding some roses other than black and gold, so I planted a few in my flower garden.

Leif: Is there anything else I can do for you, my friend?

Nook’s Cranny had a shaved-ice maker, so I bought one for Hornsby and wrapped it up.

When I ran into Rizzo, he told me he got in a fight with Hornsby. (I’m sure it was all Rizzo’s fault! 😉). He asked me to deliver an apology gift for him, so I agreed to help out. I took the gift (a camo tee) over to Hornsby, and he seemed to like it. In return, he gave me…a shaved-ice maker. So then I gave him the wrapped gift I already had for him in my pockets.

Hornsby: Wait a second! Are you kidding me? A shaved-ice maker?!

So yes, we exchanged shaved-ice makers, but it wasn’t the same one. 😛 Anyway, he gave me an arcade seat in return.

Over near town hall, Midge said she saw me with an axe and got scared!

Midge: Oh! Sorry... I saw you with an axe just now, and guess I got spooked.
You should be more spooked by the killer clown to your right.

Why were you spooked, Midge? You think I would hurt you? I thought we were friends!

I went diving in the ocean, and it took me 12 dives to find a scallop. Pascal popped up to tell me that eyeballs are like windows for the brain to look outside. 😀 He gave me a pearl for the scallop.

Pascal: Eyeballs are like windows so your brain can look outside, and your brain needs that sunshine, maaan!

I played later on to check for Celeste or Wisp, but no luck. I haven’t seen Wisp in eight days and I haven’t seen Celeste in 16 days! Has anyone else noticed not seeing them as much lately? Not sure if Nintendo made a change to their frequency or if I’m just unlucky lately. Well, I don’t even care about Wisp that much, but I really miss Celeste because I’m trying to get her DIY recipes.

As you know, all villagers in New Horizons are technically islanders. But it wasn’t always that way. Originally, islanders were a separate set of animals that could only live on an island separate from your town. Here’s a video that takes a look back at the original Animal Crossing islanders on GameCube.

See you all next time!

Lo No Go

To my surprise, Lopez asked about moving away yesterday. Even though I just said I could let him go now that I have his picture…I couldn’t do it. Not yet, anyway. I told him to stay. 😛

Lopez: That's it, then. Decision made! The Lopez Mystery Tour is postponed indefinitely!
Indefinitely, but not forever.

C.J. was in town, and he asked me to catch three big-time fish in a row. I caught two red snappers and a whale shark to complete the challenge. I grabbed a few fish out of storage, and sold him a total of 115k worth of fish.

C.J.: Oh, you got a whole school for me? All together that'll be... 115,500 bells. Deal?

Today, I was running around town, holding my net, when Hornsby pinged me. I pressed A to talk to him, but instead, I hit him with my net. 😮 He wasn’t mad after just one hit, of course, but the ping was negated. When I spoke with him, it was just the regular conversation prompt. Now I’ll never know what he was trying to tell me.

Gulliver was in town, so I helped him out by fetching his communicator parts. In return, he will be sending me a reward in the mail tomorrow.

Gulliver: Alright, the pieces are crammed back in here.

Tybalt was sick with a cold, so I crafted some medicine for him. He gave me a soft-serve hat to thank me.

Tybalt takes his medicine in Animal Crossing: New Horizons (ACNH).

It also earned me 1,000 Nook Miles for fulfilling my 50th resident request. I don’t know what all counts as a request, because it’s surprising that there have only been 50 of them in 5+ months.

I went diving in the ocean and found a scallop on my 9th dive. Pascal showed up and wondered how you could possibly throw away a garbage can.

Pascal: Where do you throw a garbage can when you want to get rid of it, maaan?
Just put in inside of a bigger garbage can.

He gave me a D.I.Y. recipe for a mermaid bed in exchange for the scallop. I made it and put it in my house.

At Nook’s Cranny, I spent 64,000 bells on an arcade mahjong game for my arcade at the amusement park.

I decided to take inventory of my 50 regular design slots to see how/where they were being used. Here’s the breakdown:

  • Rainbow Road: 22 designs (including Lakitu)
  • Frog Race course: 10 designs
  • AC Cemetery: 5 designs
  • Sudden Valley: 3 designs
  • Amusement park: 2 designs
  • Sumo: 2 designs (includes directional sign by airport)
  • Default designs: 2 (I use one for my flower garden)
  • Town flag: 1 design
  • Apple Lane: 1 design
  • Beware of Sharks sign: 1 design
  • Unused: 1 design

I posted my latest video yesterday, New Horizons Moments #2. It has highlights of the past month or so, plus my ranking of my current villagers. You might be surprised where I ranked Tybalt (I know I surprised myself with that one).

See you all next time!

Monday K.K., Shirtless Pascal

Agent S sent me a letter in the mail saying she was acting as my fashion consultant. She sent me a rabbit tee, so I decided to put it on.

I also received three Pocket Camp items that I ordered through Nook Shopping. I put the fortune-cookie cart and Brake Tapper game in my amusement park, and I put the campsite sign at the campsite (naturally). Once I remove the frog race course, I may move the campsite sign over to the left side. But for now, this is the best spot I could find.

A current view of the campsite in Forest, as of August 24, 2020.

As you can see in that photo, there was a camper at the campsite today. It was Pashmina the goat. Even though she’s one of my favorite sisterly/uchi villagers (3rd, behind Cherry and Mira), I did not invite her into town.

Pashmina: So you live here, right? It's really nice! I'm kinda jealous, kidders.

When I visited Tia, she complimented my new rabbit tee. She also gave me some jogging shorts that she thought would look nice with it. Even though I didn’t change into those shorts, it was a very nice gesture.

Tia: You deserve nice things, in a cup.

I made some minor changes with the island designer tool today. I made Lopez’s and Rizzo’s backyards one space smaller, which allowed me to expand the cliff behind their houses. So the one-space-wide path going past the Animal Crossing cemetery is now two spaces wide.

K.K. Slider was in town today. He has previously appeared on Friday, Saturday, Sunday, and now Monday too! As I mentioned on Twitter, K.K. needs a permanent venue so that he doesn’t keep getting bounced around like this!

K.K.: Right on. I'm tuned up and ready to roll. Who's in the mood for a little K.K. Dixie?

Remember how much of a big deal it was to get K.K. earlier in the game? So why is he now so unimportant that he gets bumped around to four different days of the week because of other events? Well anyway, I asked him for a random song, and he played K.K. Dixie for me.

Nook’s Cranny had a chessboard for sale, but it cost a whopping 95,000 bells! Since when does a board game cost more than 90% of furniture? 😮 However, I like chess (though I haven’t played it in years), so I decided to buy it so that it would be in my catalog.

However, I didn’t keep the chessboard for myself. I wrapped it up and gave it to Hornsby as a gift. I was hoping an expensive gift like this would help me get his photo. Instead, he gave me a jinbei. That’s an outfit. Clothing. For a gift-wrapped, 95k piece of furniture.

I went diving in the ocean, and I found a scallop on my 10th dive. Pascal popped up and informed me that he never wears a shirt! 😮 I guess I never realized that. He does wear suspenders, however.

Pascal: They say dress for the job you want. Maaan, that's why I never wear a shirt.
He gave me another pearl for the scallop.

For the first time since wedding season, I made a trip out to Harv’s island. I often get asked how I would rank my current New Horizons villagers, so I decided to do that. Look for that in a video I may be posting tomorrow. But while I was there, I also posed Rizzo sitting on a life ring in the middle of the ocean at night, with no one around to save him. 😛

Rizzo sitting on a life ring in the middle of the ocean.

That’s all I have for tonight. There may or may not be a blog entry tomorrow, but there should be a new video up regardless. Have a great day, and see you next time! 🙂
