Inside Tybalt’s House

I had a bit of a scare as I started up the game today. I couldn’t advance past the black loading screen (with just the island in the lower-right corner). Normally it takes around a minute or so (and that already seems like a long time), but it just stayed on that screen indefinitely. After 20 minutes of waiting, I forced the game to shut down and started the game back up. This time, it loaded up normally and thankfully my town data was safe.

Gulliver sent me an item in the mail, and it turned out to be a pigtail. I’ve been here hoping for more Stonehenge-type, large furniture items, and he sends me something like this. Ugh.

The pigtail accessory from Gulliver.

K.K. Slider was actually here on a Saturday night this weekend, so I asked him for a random song. He performed K.K. Gumbo for me and Agent S.

K.K. Slider looks over his shoulder at Jeff.

After the show, I checked out Tybalt’s house (now that he’s all unpacked). Most of his furniture is yellow (like him), and his carpeting has tiger stripes. I actually like his house.

Tybalt: Heyo! Welcome to my top secret hideout, grrrRAH.

I furnished the outside of his house by placing a paper tiger in front of his name plate.

A paper tiger sits outside the house of Tybalt (a tiger) in Animal Crossing: New Horizons.

I think I’m going to like the guy.

It has been a while since I’ve seen Pascal, so I went diving until I scrounged up a scallop. I gave it to him, and he spoke about breeding flowers not for colors, but for hybrid smells.

Pascal: You do much gardening? Listen, man, forget about breeding for color. The next big thing is hybrid smells.

In return for the scallop, he gave me a D.I.Y. recipe for a mermaid shelf.

Before wrapping up for the night, I wished on a few shooting stars, and I put away the frog suits from last night.

As for videos, I’ve decided to post the treasure hunt video tomorrow, and then I’ll post Wi-Fi Moments #8 a few days later. See you all next time!

New Tiger, FNF

Yesterday, Midge informed me that she bought an extra gas range. I was fully prepared to buy it off her, but it wasn’t bells that she wanted. She wanted my whale shark! I begrudgingly agreed to the trade in the hopes that this will help me earn her photo. 😛

The empty house plot on Apple Lane had a “Sold!” sign on it. Tybalt the tiger is moving in. I’m pretty neutral about Tybalt; I haven’t seen much of him before.

Wisp was in town, so I gathered his spirits for him. In return, he gave me a groovy wall.

Today, Rizzo sent me a shirt in the mail. He told me to try it on and see what I thought. So I did…it was a holiday sweater! He really sent me a holiday sweater in July, when it’s not the holiday season, and it’s the middle of summer!

Jeff tries on the holiday sweater in Animal Crossing: New Horizons.
Christmas in July?

Gulliver was in town (regular Gulliver, not pirate Gullivarrr), and I collected his five communicator pieces for him. He’ll be sending me a gift in the mail tomorrow. I also earned 500 Nook Miles because that was the 10th time I’ve helped out Gulliver.

Nook’s Cranny had a popcorn machine for sale, and I bought it for my amusement park. I placed it next to the cotton candy machine.

At the plaza, I listened in on a conversation between Apple and Rizzo. Rizzo was getting annoyed because he didn’t understand Apple’s slang. 😂

Rizzo: Hold up! Are you OK?! Don't... don't die?!

While fishing at the pier, I caught my first blue marlin! That’s also how I lost my eye. .(

Jeff, wearing an eye patch, catches a blue marlin.

I then went to meet my new neighbor, Tybalt the tiger. He came from the town of Laverre: That’s where Ros lives.

Tybalt: I'm Tybalt! I just moved here from Laverre today!

I set up something different for Friday Night Forest: a treasure hunt. This is how it works: I hid a treasure somewhere in town–this time it was five gold nuggets. I set up patterns on the ground in various spots in town. Each one tells people where to go for the next clue. For example, one clue tells visitors to go to the end of my pier. There, you’ll see a message that says to go to my back room.

A message on the pier says "my back room."

Oh, one more thing. In true jvgsjeff fashion, I buried pitfall seeds around town. So being the front-runner in the race to each clue wasn’t always an advantage, if you happen to fall into the pitfall first. 😉

At 10:00, I opened my gate for Friday Night Forest. Timo, Ros, Alex (from Pawnee), and Logan came over. I explained the treasure hunt and then I told them the first clue was on the frog race course. As they ran west, I headed east. I knew the next clue would send them to the pier, so I set up a camera near my pitfalls. Alex was first, and he passed right by the pitfalls. Logan wasn’t as lucky.

Logan falls into a pitfall.

After Alex read the clue and headed for my house, I went to the next location, the campground. I again placed a camera to see the action when someone showed up, and I moved out of sight so I’d have time to reach the next spot ahead of the leader. This time, Alex fell into a pitfall and Timo and Ros caught up with him.

I scampered to the next location, getting there just barely ahead of Alex (who had retaken the lead). He fell into another pitfall, but he saw the final clue. He knew to go behind the lighthouse!

Alex falls into a pitfall next to text that says to go behind the lighthouse.

Since this was the final leg of the race, I was able to follow him to the lighthouse to witness him claiming his prize. Congrats, Alex! I plan on posting a video of this on Sunday, but I’m not sure if it’ll be part of Wi-Fi Moments 8 or a separate video of its own. But this was fun, and I’m sure I’ll do something similar again in the future. 🙂

Ros shared some gifts for all of us: cherry hats! Thanks Ros!

The five of us wearing cherry hats in Animal Crossing: New Horizons.

After Alex disconnected and returned (which he blamed on his cat), we ran two frog races. Logan won both times! Congrats, Logan and Logan! 😛

After roasting some frogs and posing for frog photos by the waterfall, we went to welcome Tybalt to town. As we did that, Ryan and Valentine came over. But Alex disconnected and then returned. 😛 And then Maria joined in too, so we had a full house.

Ros made enough cherry hats for everyone, which was really nice of her! We went swimming and diving, as a gang of cherry…zombies? Alex again disconnected and returned, and then Ros left about 11:30.

We went fishing in the pond and at the waterfall, stopped at Rainbow Road, and visited with Tia. While we were there, I noticed that Tia had an outfit in her refrigerator! That seems like a funny place to put clothes. 😛 But actually, I didn’t even realize that you could see what villagers had in their storage like this!

I see... Guess it makes sense...
Actually, I don’t think it does make sense.

I went outside and pitfall’d Alex. Shortly before midnight, Valentine and Logan left. I kept the gate open until almost 1 a.m. though. But since this blog entry is getting long (and it’s very late as I’m writing this), I’m going to try to sum up the final hour in one quick paragraph. 😀

Alex laggingly pushed me through the entire amusement park, we visited Agent S and trapped Maria in a chair, we tried pitfall-less sumo with Apple, we jumped on pillars, Timo drowned in the ocean, Ryan and Timo stole my life savings (200 bells from trees), we chased down the thieves, and Alex posted this monstrosity to my bulletin board.

Alex from Pawnee draws a horrific illustration of Pure Evil herself, known as Jambette.

On that nightmarish note, I’m off to bed. 😛 I’ll be back with another entry on Saturday, and a video on Sunday. In the meantime, check out my recent video where I rank my favorite villagers by species if you haven’t seen it already.

See you next time! And Never Stop Crossing!

Keaton’s Photo

With Shari gone, it was weird seeing a vacancy on Apple Lane for the first time.

So I went on four mystery island tours, searching for new potential villagers. I met Willow on a money rock island, Bruce on a bamboo island, Soleil on a waterfall island, and Broffina on a spiral island. I did not want any of them. But at least I had some fun by pitfalling Soleil. 😛

Soleil falls into a pitfall in Animal Crossing: New Horizons.

Unfortunately, my capture device glitched right as Soleil was falling into the pitfall, so I don’t have a video clip of the sun setting on Waterfall Island. 😛

When I returned to Forest, Keaton asked me to catch a horned dynastid for him.

Keaton: Say, have you ever hunted the mighty horned dynastid?

Flick was in town, so I used his bug-buying services a number of times throughout the day. I was actually looking for him before starting my horned dynastid search, but I ended up running into the dynastid first! So that was an easier task than I expected. I took the bug over to Keaton, and he gave me his photo!! Yes!

Keaton: I splurged a little bit, but i didn't think you'd mind. Go on, enjoy. It's Keaton's photo!
You splurged on your own photo?

This is my 2nd villager photo so far (Tia’s photo was the first). I hung it up on the wall in my house. Keaton’s favorite quote is “Even in a room full of fools, someone is the smartest.”

*Wii Sports announcer voice* Nice eagle!

Thanks for the photo, Keaton!

If Shari’s old house plot is still unclaimed tomorrow, I may go on some more mystery island tours. See you all next time! And for people on my Switch friend roster, I am planning on having Friday Night Forest this week.
