Sharks & Weddings

Today is Keaton’s birthday, so I headed up to Eagle Mountain to attend his birthday party. Tia was also there to help him celebrate. I gave him a retro fan that I bought at Nook’s Cranny, and I think it blew him away.

Keaton, at his birthday party: It's...it's...splendorous! I had to make up a word for how good this is.
A successful gift, for the wind!

Back outside, I saw a large dragonfly and I chased it around. Once I got to the beach, I caught it! It was my first banded dragonfly!

Jeff, after catching a banded dragonfly in Animal Crossing: New Horizons: I did it!
These used to be so hard to catch in the old games.

Crazy Jolly Redd’s ship was in town, and I bought a perfect painting from him. I also bought a beach ball for my beach.

Redd: Wow, you really know your art. You can just FEEL the aura on that perfect painting, huh?

I was standing near that beach ball when I caught my first whale shark. The arrival of June has brought shark season to New Horizons! Yay!

Jeff, after catching a whale shark: Thar she blows!
Yar, she bites too, so be careful.

The funny thing is that I didn’t even know that was a shark before I caught it. The shark fins in this game aren’t as obvious as they were in earlier games…especially if fishing to the south (the fin gets lost in their shadow). This is what my whale shark shadow looked like:

If you’re fishing on the east or west coasts, they’re easier to spot. Although, the new suckerfish also has a fin…so it doesn’t always guarantee a shark.

Rizzo the rat was eating ice cream on the beach, and he complained about me banging my shovel on the rocks yesterday! How rude!

Rizzo: Ain't there some less-noisy way to chip yourself off them bits of rock for your DIY projects and whatnot?

Just for that, I planted a pitfall for him. But to my surprise, he stayed there for a while. Apple even joined him, and she also whipped out an ice cream bar. After about four and a half minutes, Rizzo finally got up and pitfall’d himself. 😛

June is also wedding season, and Harvey has a special event on his island, Photopia. Reese and Cyrus can be found there, and they want to re-create photos of their wedding day.

Wilbur: Apple strudel static! Looks like we got a whole lotta radio chatter goin' on over yonder...
Anyone else catch this? Remember, Wilbur says “November Oscar Whisker” to spell out “now” and “Delta Oscar Delta Oscar” for Dodo. 😉

Cyrus made several wedding-themed items, and we can use them (along with anything else in our catalog) to decorate the room. I just used the items he supplied, and then took the picture.

Reese and Cyrus recreating their wedding photo.
Are they using recycled wedding vows?

As a reward for helping them out, Reese gave me a wedding bench and some heart crystals. The heart crystals are basically currency that you can use to buy Cyrus’ other wedding items.

The wedding-themed items you can get from Cyrus during wedding season in Animal Crossing: New Horizons.

Reese asked me to help out again tomorrow. It seems like you can keep helping them each day in June to earn more heart crystals. I’ll probably keep coming back until I’m able to buy all of the items for my catalog.

It was a pretty busy day in New Horizons for me. In total, I had six new catches for the museum: a banded dragonfly, dorado, drone beetle, firefly, suckerfish, and the whale shark. Good luck with your shark and beetle hunting, everyone! See you next time. 🙂

Meeting Daisy Mae

For the first time, I played New Horizons on a Sunday morning, and I got to meet Daisy Mae the turnip-selling pig.

Daisy Mae: Hullo there! I'm Daisy Mae!

Snot was oozing out of her nose, and it just hangs there. It never drips off, but it swings around when she turns her head. So gross! Wipe your nose, kid!

She was selling turnips for 95 bells apiece, and I bought one thousand of them, for a total of 95,000 bells.

The Happy Home Academy sent me a silver HHA plaque in the mail for topping 30,000 points. I put it on the wall in my exercise room, next to my bronze plaque.

Lopez was outdoors today, sniffing toilets exploring the island.

(Lopez can be seen in the background looking at a toilet.)

So I gave him the push into a pitfall that he earned yesterday. Tell me again how it’s Isabelle, not me, doing all the work around here. Go ahead. I dare you.

Welcome to Forest.

Since I was playing earlier than usual, I was able to catch several new bugs. That included the orchid mantis, agrias butterfly, Madagascan sunset moth, and Queen Alexandra’s birdwing.

I caught a Queen Alexandra's birdwing! That's a feather in my cap!

As you might expect, Blathers was sooooo excited to get four new bugs for the museum. 😉

A message bottle gave me a DIY recipe for golden flooring, and it looks pretty cool. I just don’t want to use my gold nuggets on it right now. I’m trying to save them for when I eventually get gold tool recipes.

I posted my latest New Horizons video episode today. I hope you’ll check it out.

Fossil Exhibit Complete

As of yesterday, my house has a basement. It’s a large room, just like the upstairs room. The Happy Home Academy sent me a monstera (plant), so I put it down here. I also installed my manga-library wall and cool vinyl flooring.

My new basement in ACNH.
Pretend those are video games, not books. All those white spines remind me of Wii games.

When I went into town hall, Tom Nook informed me that he can’t expand my home any further. That’s pretty much what I expected. I still want to pay off my debt, though. It just might take me a few weeks or so.

At Able Sisters, I spoke with Sable (as I normally do), and Mabel seemed to get upset! She said if I wanted to buy something, I have to go through HER. That seemed abnormally rude of her.

Mabel: Not so fast! If you wanna buy something at THIS store, you go through ME!

I visited Lopez and got to see the inside of his house for the first time. I like the reindeer up on the wall. 😛

Rizzo taught me the bewilderment reaction before I wrapped up my game for the day. I decided to cancel Friday Night Forest, and I posted on the blog and on Twitter to let people know. Hopefully nobody stayed up waiting to join. When in doubt, check my Twitter page. You don’t even need a Twitter account or app, you can just visit my Twitter with your browser to see my recent posts.

I tried to put my gold rose into storage today, but sadly, I couldn’t! So you can put living creatures like bugs and fish into storage (or in your house), but not flowers. Wow, that seems like a big oversight. (And yeah, you could pluck the petals off and keep those indoors, but not the plants themselves).

I started buying some white hyacinth seeds to replace some yellow ones I have on several paths on my main street. That’s because I want “DK Drive” to be the only path in town lined with yellow hyacinths, because they vaguely resemble bananas. 😂🍌

When I spoke with Keaton, he called me his bestie! That was a bit surprising, but I’ll take it. I wonder if he will be the first one to give me a villager photo. Even though my thoughts on Keaton were fairly neutral at first, he has grown on me.

Keaton: Perfect weather and a random meet up with my bestie. What could be better?

Hornsby was sick with a cold, so I bought some medicine for him. In return, he gave me an attus robe.

One of today’s four fossils was a sabertooth skull. I donated it to the museum, and Blathers informed me that it was the last fossil I still needed! So the fossil exhibit is now complete!

Blathers: Hoo hoo! Is it true? The final fossil has been found? It was! It has! Indeed, HUZZAH!

I know the fossil exhibit is always the first section of the museum to be completed, but two months and 10 days seems rather quick. I think all of the previous Animal Crossing games took me longer.

Saturday night is K.K. Slider night, and I found Tia already enjoying the show when I arrived. But as I was talking to K.K., Apple came up and sat down too. I sat down to enjoy the show, and Rizzo came and sat down during the show. And once the show ended, Lopez also joined in!

Rizzo, Tia, Jeff, Apple, and Lopez surround K.K. Slider in Animal Crossing: New Horizons.

I went over to speak to my newest villager, and he said the brains behind Forest is clearly Isabelle!

Lopez: You know who's the real brains behind Forest? It's clearly Isabelle!
Excuse me? I’m right here, you know.

He said it was unimaginable how bad this island would be if not for Isabelle!

Lopez: Can you imagine what this place would be like without her?
Her?

Isabelle didn’t even show up until Forest built a town hall. This punk just got here and he thinks he knows what’s going on? He just assumes it’s all Isabelle when the only thing she does is read the visitor comments to me. If this was New Leaf, he might have somewhat of a point. But Isabelle honestly doesn’t do much in New Horizons.

I got my net out and smacked Lopez over the head a few times for that. He just moved in, and he’s already on my bad side. I can’t wait to pitfall him. 😛

Yesterday, I put up a new video compilation of cute moments I’ve encountered in the game over the past 2+ months. If you need a smile right now, I hope you’ll give it a watch.
