Bugs, Birthdays, and Don

The Bug-Off was held last Saturday, and I participated (but just in one round). I caught 11 bugs in the three-minute time limit, with the last one being a long locust I caught with three seconds remaining. As time expired, my net promptly exploded in my hands. πŸ˜›

Bug-Off is over!

Flick confirmed that my 11 bugs netted me 13 points. I used ten of those points to score a butterfly backpack.

It was also Ketchup’s birthday, so I made sure to attend her party. Louie was also there to help her celebrate. I gave Ketchup some stacked bags that I customized to be green. Happy birthday, Ketchup!

Ketchup: Some stacked bags! I just KNEW you'd get me something great! I'll take good care of it!

On Monday, I found a scallop while diving…and of course, Pascal popped up to ask for it. He then questioned why flower beds are called “beds” when the flowers seem awake to him. 🀷

Pascal: Ever wonder why they call it a flower bed? They always seem real awake to me.

Tuesday, Ankha told me she chooses her perfume based on the weather. So she said that she smells like apple, in her tomb. I’m not sure any of that makes sense, because the weather wasn’t apple-ing outside.

Ankha: For example, today I smell like apple, in my tomb.

On Wednesday, June kidnapped me and took me to her house. She, Static, and Ketchup had a surprise birthday party for me.

Everyone: Happy birthday!

I blew out my candles, smacked a piΓ±ata, got some birthday cupcakes, and received a gift (some birthday candles). Thanks, June, Ketchup, and Static!

Having fun at my birthday party with Ketchup, June, and Static.

Today, I saw Don in the Roost. He said taking a cup of coffee for the road is great, except that he usually ends up spilling it if he’s with Sonny (aka Resetti).

Don: But when we get the call and I'm with Sonny? There's a 98 percent chance I'm spillin' that coffee.
Don: On account of him flippin' out and spillin' it for me! So maybe drinkin' it here is best, actually.

Here are a few other quick notes from the past week:

  • K.K. Slider performed K.K. Chorinho for me on Sunday.
  • K.K. also showed up Wednesday to play K.K. Birthday.
  • Label wanted to see me in an outdoorsy outfit today, and she gave me a music-fest shirt as an example. I kept the clothes I was already wearing, but added a baseball cap. Label liked it, but it wasn’t perfect. She gave me a Labelle hat.
Label: Oh, wow! You've really captured the outdoorsy look. Even the details are on point.

I recently posted a new video looking at some co-exclusive features in the Animal Crossing series. In other words, features that appeared in two games, but not the others. Each pair of games has something in common. Check it out!

See you next time!

Dreaming of Skellige

On Sunday, June gave me a bold aloha shirt.

June: Is it true that you've been looking for a bold aloha shirt?
No, but I know that won’t stop you from giving it to me.

Since she also wears similar tops (as a reference to her days as an original islander on GameCube), I decided to put it on and be like her. So I said goodbye to my “Zombies Ate My Neighbors” outfit. πŸ˜›

On Monday, Curlos the sheep was camping in town. He also camped here last summer too, but I’m still not interested in him.

Curlos: Hey, you're a local, right? The name's Curlos. Ha HA! That's how I laugh.

On Tuesday, Static was sick with a cold…so I gave him some medicine. In return, he gave me a dotted raincoat. (Not just a dot.) πŸ˜†

Static: I'm all better, thanks to you. So I'm hopin' you'll accept a small gift. It's a dot

Today, I made a brief dream visit to the town of Skellige (dream address 1941-3363-3462). It’s set in autumn, and it’s beautiful!

The dream town of Skellige.
A waterfall in the beautiful town of Skellige.

I even met my favorite ducky Molly there. πŸ₯°

Molly: I hope you enjoy yourself during your stay. Maybe we'll run into each other again, quackidee.

While I didn’t explore the town fully, it was amazing from what I saw. It’s well worth a visit, so check it out for yourself if you’d like!

Some art in the town of Skellige.

Great work on the town, Kayla!

Here are a few other quick notes about life back in Forest this week:

  • On Sunday, I asked Wisp for something expensive (for a change), and he gave me a fashionable royal dress.
  • Monday, I sold 20 fish (including three ocean sunfish that I’ve caught recently) to C.J. for 247,500 bells.
  • I helped out Gulliver on Wednesday, and he sent me another geisha wig Thursday.
  • Today, I sold Flick a total of 47 bugs for 363,750 bells. Nice haul!

See you all next time!

First Rainbow

Last Friday, I met Curt the bear, who was camping at the campsite.

Curt: Howdy! I'm just stakin' a claim for a bit, enjoyin' the campin' life. Be seein' you around, fuzzball!
He must not like the letter G.

I don’t particularly care for him (and I had him in City Folk last year), so there was no risk of me asking him to move in. He can curt-sy right on out of town for all I care. πŸ˜›

Gullivarrr was over on the beach, so I went diving to retrieve his phone parts. In return, he sent me a sea captain’s coat the next day.

The fishing tournament was held last weekend. I played just one round, catching six fish and scoring eight points.

C.J.: I am SO hyped!
It’s really not that exciting, man.

Afterwards, I redeemed 10 points for a fishing-rod stand.

On Tuesday, June complimented me on my skull shirt. She said she was going to turn into my biggest fan if I…”don’t stop that sort of thing?” I know what she was trying to say, but it kinda sounded awkward the way she worded it.

June: I'm going to turn into your biggest fan if you don't stop that sort of thing, in my hair.
…what?

Yesterday, I played a treasure hunt game with June. I found the buried treasure fairly quickly, and I won some octagonal glasses.

June: Some octagonal glasses!

Today, I saw a rainbow in Forest for the first time!

Seeing my first rainbow in Forest.

Well, to be honest, I wasn’t exactly sure it was a rainbow. The colors are so faint that it just looked like a circular cloud. But Merengue confirmed that it was indeed a rainbow.

Merengue: Jeff, did you see the rainbow too?

I must say that I’m pretty disappointed in the lack of color! Compare it to the rainbows on GameCube or in New Leaf, which had bright, vivid colors. But at least I finally got to see one in this game. 🌈

I found June in Nook’s Cranny, trying to decide if she wanted to buy a retro fan. Her catchphrase fit in quite well with her reasoning.

June: Seems like a good way to bring home that summer feeling, in my hair.

Tonight, I attended K.K. Slider’s concert, and he performed Lucky K.K. for me.

Enjoy your weekend, everyone! I’ll see you next time!
